RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK 1981 BRITISH GIRL FIRST TIME WATCHING MOVIE REACTION

timingenkamp3973: When the female student blinked revealing "Love You", Harrison should have blinked and revealed "I Know" on his eyelids.

dwightnave2572: Karen Allen's first starring role was in Animal House with john Belushi in 1978. She was in Woody Allen's Manhattan in 1979. She also was in Martin Scorsese's Cruising in 1980. So she had an impressive resume before going into Raiders of the Lost Ark. My favorite movie of hers is Starman with Jeff Bridges in 1984.

lanolinlight: Her enthusiasm for this movie has me swooning like she did over Indy's first closeup.

JamesP0168: The chance to watch Kate laughing at melting Nazis is the reason the internet was invented.

cmrobbins88: When people ask what’s a gold standard Hollywood film this is one of the first movies I think of.

TheCdavy: Literally the greatest adventure film of all time…

PowderedToastMan-510: Harrison Ford was born to play Indiana Jones.

kennylund3821: If you hadn't seen Karen Allen before this, please watch "Starman".

SeedFactoryProject: Alfred Molina played Jones' assistant in the early scenes. This was his first major movie role, and his first day of shooting was the scene with the tarantulas. Those were live tarantulas. Talk about a tough first day at work.

Ironically Molina later plays a villain with multiple robot arms who fights Spiderman in several films.

The final scene was the inspiration for the TV series "Warehouse 13", a secret government warehouse where magical artifacts are kept out of the world's hands for safekeeping. There were also 3 TV movies followed by a series called "The Librarian" and "The Librarians" with a similar concept. Instead the magical items being in a warehouse, they were in a secret library beneath a big city public library.

SteveHall-s6x: When my wife and I were on our second date, she made a joke that was a reference to this movie, and I answered with the French accent of the evil archeologist. About a year later, she told me that I was the only guy she had dated who had gotten the joke, so that, in that moment, I had become more interesting to her, and she decided to keep me around for a while longer. When our first child was born, we gave her the middle name of Indiana to honor that moment. Now we have Katherine Indiana, or, as her friends call her, Kate-Indy.

robertshields4160: Karen Allen was also in Animal House. A great comedy.

chrisd4228: I don't think anyone has ever gone wrong by going with John Williams.

michaeldavid6284: The only film I paid to see more than once at the theater. I was a college student when it was released on June 1, 1981. I had heard about this new Steven Spielberg film and thought I'd go see the first show on opening day. It was Monday, and the first show was either 11 a.m. or 12 noon, and there were only about 20 other people in the theater. The first fifteen minutes had me completely entralled, and when the movie ended, I called my girlfriend and all of friends and told them YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS NOW. I went back to one of the evening shows with my girlfriend and a couple of buddies...and even went back a third time a few days later. And back then, a movie ticket was only 3 or 4 dollars. I think I got my money's worth. Cheers, Kate.

happyapple4269: The map room is one of the best scenes in cinema.

Infamous1991: I watched this movie as a kid i cant even explain how much i love this movie

stonecoldku4161: There are references to Star Wars in every Indiana Jones movie. One such reference in this movie is that two of Hieroglyphs on the wall in the room of snakes are of C3PO and R2-D2.

phila3884: It's heartwarming to see new generations get the same kick out of the "classics", which we saw fresh, as we did. Good storytelling, whether on a radio program, a song, or a movie, never goes out of style.

JustWasted3HoursHere: George Lucas and Steven Spielberg were friends, having shared a connection through the University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinematic Arts. George had made Star Wars and Steven had made Close Encounters of the Third Kind in 1977. After their movies had both done well, their families vacationed together in Hawaii. It was during that vacation that George and Steven began formulating the idea of working together on a project. George talked about making an adventure movie like the ones he loved as a kid, and Steven agreed, saying that he had always wanted to make a movie where a guy gets chased by a giant boulder... The rest, as they say, is history.

JamesWalkerJr-d6j: John Rhys-Davies (Sallah) - Played Gimli in Lord of the Rings!

gregmattson2238: oh my god. watching this as a 12 year old boy was like wrapping every Christmas, birthday, sleepover, and roadtrip into one two-hour package of joy. What an experience. I obsessed for months after I saw this movie, saw it at least 10 times, got into history and devoured world war II films and books after seeing it. I have to thank Spielberg for what he did. He made popular films, yes, but he made popular films with morals, and I credit him with getting a whole generation of young kids interested in history (as well as reminding the adults of the history they had lived through and how bad it was).

LostButMakingGoodTime: For years and to this day, whenever my co-workers and I talk about how some project is going, the answer is always the same: “Well, we’ve got our best people working on it.” To which someone always responds, “Top…men.”

slimmccoy8863: Kate, you mentioned that the large German mechanic looked like a circus strongman. In fact, he's played by Pat Roach who, in addition to many acting roles, was a professional wrestler (Pat 'The Bomber" Roach). He plays parts in the first 3 of the Indiana Jones films.

He passed away in 2004, before the 4th film was made.

chimpinaneckbrace: Faces melt, head explodes….

Hysterical laughter

brianrunyon266: Huge fan of Harrison Ford films.

TheCkent100: Yes, it did look like a fly when into Belloq's mouth. But according to Paul Freeman, the actor that played Belloq, there was a quick cut in the film which made it seem as though the fly went into his mouth. The fly, he claims, actually flew away, but that part of the scene was cut.

shanecampbell7423: The term "GOAT" is thrown around a lot nowadays, but when it comes to John Williams, it's inarguable. He is absolutely the GOAT composer.

melthebell33: First saw this one at the cinema as a kid too, aswell as Star wars
