Bonoscot: FUN FACT: The scene with Indy shooting the guy with the sword in the street was not supposed to happen. There was supposed to be a big sword fight that went on for a few minutes but Harrison Ford got really ill and when he turned up to the scene the director asked him to kinda go off script due to the illness and they came up with the idea of just shooting the swordsman in a humorous way

slickrichelicopter8977: It's amazing the practical effects in this movie, especially the face melting scene. Wax, a hot lamp and increased time lapse go a long way.

anyviolet: When this movie came out, audiences were used to seeing opening scenes like this one at the END of movies. I believe Spielberg/Lucas were two of the first to put a big action sequence right at the start. Now it's more commonplace, but back then we lined up for it (yes I'm old :D). Nice to see new generations enjoying this classic!

His music scores for Jaws (1975), the Star Wars film franchise, Superman (1978), E.T. (1982), Schindler’s List (1993), and Jurassic Park (1993) are also simply amazing.

AARONANKRUM: The man who plays Indy's guide at the beginning later becomes Dr. Oct in the second Spider-man movie - the great Alfred Molina.
