Shopping Cartdomingocurbelomorales8635: Indy´s friend, Sallah, is played by John Rhys Davies; who also played the dwarf Gimli in Lord of The Rings trilogy.
domingocurbelomorales8635: This was the first film of Alfred Molina (Dr Octopus in Spiderman). The guy who betrays Indy at the beggining.
MrDarkwing78: 17:45 Obligatory trivia time: That scene was scripted for Indy to fight the swordsman, however Harrison Ford got dysentery and was unable to, so he suggested “Why don’t I just shoot him instead?”. It has become one of the most memorable scenes from this movie.
znk0r: One of the reason for the style is not when it was filmed (80s) but what is was paying homage to, the 1930-1950 era serials and comic books.
scarbobblecop: "Is the monkey going to eat them and die? I guess he's a nazi but he could change his ways" feels very very Emme and I love it. Great reaction!
MartinBeerbom: The burnt hand was how Belloq and the Nazis were able to make a copy of the Head Piece of the Staff of Ra. But since it only shows one side, they missed the correct length of the staff, which was noted on the other side. I find it curious how many reactors either don't notice or not mention it.
trefen2534: Belloq did not actually swallow a fly, it flew away but Spielberg cut the frames showing that so it looked like it flew into his mouth.
andrewcrook8170: The Idiana Jones movies are a love letter to the Saturday matinee cliffhanger Spielberg watched as a boy
MartinBeerbom: 36:12 THAT was the trigger for the widespread modern use of the Wilhelm scream. (Of course not the literal 'first', but it was an obscure effect up until here. Sound engineer Ben Burtt found it in the archives, liked it, and used it in "Star Wars", and from then on in all subsequent movies. But it was its exposed usage here that made people recognizing it, looking for it, and use it themselves.)
MartinBeerbom: There was a lengthty scene planned, and some scenes shot, explaining how Indy survived the submarine trip (including using his whip lashing himself to the periscope and using his leather jacket as a air bubble). It was cut for pacing reasons, and it worked amazingly well. At this point of the movie, we all realized that Indy was the kind of archetype that cannot die, even if he did not achieve what he set out to do, and filled in the blanks ourselves.
rossjohnson5114: Watched all sorts of reactions and no one puts it together that when they open the ark, the sand in there is from the broken 10 Commandment tablets that they referenced in the beginning of the movie.
craigmorris4083: Oh, and just FYI Emme, this is why The Red Skull said ""Let the Führer dig for trinkets in the desert".
It is a direct reference to this movie. :)
sean_mccadden: George Lucas and Steven Spielberg are best friends. George helped produced a lot of older Spielberg movies and both hid loads of references to each others movies around this era
TheDMG_DA: "The monkey's a Nazi but he can change his ways," - one of those statements I never knew I needed!
One of the reasons Emme is one of my favorite reactors - so quick on her feet with lines as memorable as what she watches.
robertbunting1342: I've heard so many people say what they know about 'Raiders' and it's always the bag of sand and boulder bits. lol During the scene where Indy and Sallah are lifting the cover off the ark , over Indy's shoulder you can see R2D2 and C3PO carved into the hieroglyphs.
briefmortal11: I love how right as the screen shows "South America" the Kookaburras start calling
samtaholo: Indiana Jones is a trilogy. Three movies, and that's all. I will fight anyone who says otherwise. (Not really, but I might pull a gun on you if I have one.)
DaleRibbons: I remember seeing this in the theater on my birthday in 1981. A terrific film! The best of the Indiana Jones movies!
TheNovaBridger: 11:55 according the novelisation, Marion was 15 years old when she & Indy began their relationship; when the relationship ended she was 16 or 17, while he was 27 or 28…
misterno-ice-guy8082: Haha!
"Squiggles"!
Excellent name for a pet snake
samtaholo: The distinctive lighting in the movie (the shadows and Indy's silhouette, for example) was the work of English cinematographer Douglas Slocombe. Spielberg had worked with Slocombe on Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and brought him on as director of photography for Raiders (as well as its two sequels).
ronfehr7899: When filming the tarantulas on Harrison Ford's back, they were not moving, so a female was added when they filmed Alfred Molina's side.
vincentsaia6545: Indy teaches at the fictional Marshall College (named after producer Frank Marshall) somewhere in the Northeastern U.S.
jacksonconley5117: Unfortunately I already used up all my hype points for this week Emme, but I’ll be back here on Monday to hype this video. Keep up the good work.️
thedoctor4327: Last Crusade is my personal favorite of the series (one of my 3 favorite movies of all time). But Raiders is still one of the best movies ever made.
As a Star Wars fan if you go back and watch various Star Wars content you’ll see Easter Eggs to Indiana Jones throughout (ie at one point Cad Bane is looking for a new hat and picks up Indy’s fedora as an option). And the reverse is true too, if you look carefully at the hieroglyphics in the Well of Souls you see R2D2 and C3PO
MartinBeerbom: The burly mechanic fighting Indy at the airplane was played by British pro-wrestler and stuntman Pat Roach. He also played one of the thugs in Nepal, and a thug in "Temple of Doom". He also appears in "Last Crusade", but most of his scenes were cut, what remains is just a cameo as a Nazi soldier. Another movie where he's recognizable is the 'unofficial' James Bond movie "Never Say Never Again", where he has a lengthy fight with Sean Connery.
jennifermorris6848: So glad you liked it. You commented frequently on the music. This is the great John Williams whose music is iconic across many genre from science fiction to adventure to historical biopic to fantasy to war.
