Behind the Scenes Raiders of the Lost Ark Spielberg, 1981 with Harrison Ford and Karen Allen

joeblough4605: You could make that exact movie today, and it would be at least as big of a hit as it was back then. It's a classic.

rojoloco3911: A movie was absolutely magical and never gets old to me.

markr.devereux3385: l love these behind the scenes docs. the tarantula story had me laughing outloud. thank god they went with HARRISON.

thelevellerx: loved raiders as a boy...saw it when it came out and still love it..

god i feel old

lenwenzel7440: The first three Indianna films are shear magic. Every one of them could carry you away on wings of imagination, and adventure. Spielberg had, and has that inner child that has a great gift for the story tellers art. When you have that, an ensemble cast, and crew you have something that people can watch in fifty or one hundred years, and fall into the story.

davidmckayii752: Karen’s scene trying to escape was pure genius.

atariboy9084: Steven is like a grown up kid in a candy store all hyped up where George is a quiet shy nerd who ready ton of fantasy books^^

glenrich-uu9zr: The most surprising joy for a scale

modeling enthusiast is the movie

prop of a replica British Mark VIII tank.

prairiedogsareextant: Cracks me up that fanboys of this franchise think that the Nuked Fridge bit in the 4th flick was ridiculous, but the face melting Ark isn't.

rekunta: Danny Devito as Sallah? I can not imagine that one.

UNUSUALUSERNAME220: Anyone that's ever been to Egypt, knows that snakes are the least of your worries especially in big temples. It's BATS that are all over the place. If you ever go, ware a hat! Don't worry about them getting in your hair, they won't, they will poop on you though!

tomwilson1006: WHY didn’t they stop at 3??!!

kthx1138: It's so sad Ronnie Lacey never achieved the success of some of his contemporaries. With his looks, he was never going to be a leading man, but he could've made a whole career out of playing sadistic bad guys. I saw him in Clint Eastwood's Firefox as well as the earlier than Raiders Zulu Dawn and found him under utilized.

trex6142: The movie is so seamless, but then you see it came together piece by piece.

stevenslater3421: Still remember watching it for the first time, it was so thrilling.

kthx1138: What a wonderful creative combustion, all the ideas and all those talents that came together in that one movie.

davewestner: It's funny to see that concept art for the Indy look where he's clenching a smoke in his mouth.

Glad they didn't make Indy a smoker.

I wonder if Winston-Salem tried to talk them into it?

denvermusic8557: This was terrific. Was John Williams's epic score mentioned, though? I definitely heard it in my head watching this!

ianrotten4453: Your a good man. I've got all of these wonderful box sets that have these bonus features that most folks will never see without channels like this. Thanks!

lib556: Raiders was connected with 1980's Dogs of War. Both films shared crew, props and even some actors. I believe the boat was the same one. The most obvious actor in both was Paul Freeman (Beloq). Also appearing in both was George Harris and Eddie Tagoe.

As for the Indiana Jones costume, Charleton Heston wore pretty much the exact set of clothes in the Secret Of the Incas in 1954. He was also a very similar character.

ray4807: Harrison Ford was perfect casting for Indy. Tom Selleck, albeit probably would have done a good job, was too tall and big to be Indy. As such, you would lose that ‘in over his head’ idea. For example, when Indy fights the German Mechanic, because of Selleck’s size, you might think he was an even match. However, Ford’s size compared to the mechanic, he seemed overmatched. His casting works on all levels.

JonBaldwin-f3x: The film might be good, but it is a totally unrealistic account of how real life archaeology operates.

enriquevillareal666: I used to be glad they picked Harrison Ford, but now I wish they had picked Tom Selleck. I bet he wouldn't be trying to play Indiana Jones at 80 and let someone younger pick up the role.

etienneleroy4075: "'i had to have a hat". perfect combo :)

Sbannmarie: Classic! LOVE LOVE LOVE Indy!

hamonryechinaski180: Magnificent film. Epic.

Funny how quite so many are of the same tribe. Were they the 'best in class' OR is it just yet another example of nepotism, tribalism and why so many in Hollywood change their name cos it'd be so on the nose?
