Why Play Guild Wars 2 in 2026?

ImmortalityV: Because the game really is just that good. All you need to know, go download and enjoy.

sarkairox1516: Ayyyy, a new Laranity video is out, time to forget life for 15 mins straight.

bbdiabo: "rat like asura"

Skritt: am i a joke to you?!

RealPearlMania: Laranity with the best views & thoughts.

We appreciate this great video!

ViolentMuffin: All that time spent on editing paid off, great work!

targettmark88: the best part is the community, everyone is soo happy to help you when you need it , you all Rock xxx happy new year everyone <3

warrentrietsch8047: Really enjoy your enthusiasm. This game has one of the best communities I've ever found in an online space. Somehow it's like they have made what you imagine an mmorpg should be when hearing about or downloading it. Hundreds of people on the same maps running around, some in parties or large squads... Some just soloing on their own mission in a vast world. Such kindness from veterans and newbies alike. If coming from a toxic or stressful community in an online game, the people of GW2 might restore your faith in humanity and that is not an exaggeration. W vid.

justBiyao: The best part: "Truly introvert" title and you can get many more.

Zeckonn: You forgot the most important rule in GW2, if someone jumps in front of you, you start jumping too!

_xolari: This video is amazing! Hope it helps to bring more people to GW2!

Max_Winters: Another banger by the queen of GW ! Good job Lara !

25Jvke: I just started playing this month and all of your videos have helped give direction so much! Thanks laranity

iDelayOn: I played it for the first time in 2026 and I come from an old mmo called RO.

Im a dad and needed something to release stress.

Having lots of fun just doing map completion, doing it solo while learning Elementalist.

Piegearat: I started playing the game 2 days after its release. I don't have a lot of time played though, but I always come back to it. There's a really good feeling about it, like the game doesn't lose you on the way if you don't play for a while. You can come back and play like you never left. Just like meeting an old friend after a while and you can take where you left off, as if no time had passed. Love the game, love the comminuty :)

DarkBladeesx: Thanks Lara! Your videos are always a safe place for me and really helful :D

johndoe-qo8cy: May the force forever be in your favour to live long and prosper

lirenalaria7707: "...shouting at people to make them feel better."

I can't... XD

ScarletStarless: great video as always Laranity haha as a new player your videos have help me sooo much im now 300 hours in and loving this game

andrebrito5706: I never tried GW2 before and started playing last week.

I'm having a blast and your guides are super useful!

I wish there was more info on what is good (builds and gear) with out all the DLC's since I'm waiting for a sale, and only bought the Path of Fire and Thorns bundle for the mounts!

djukor: To be honest all the popular MMOs are over a decade old. But i will argue GW2 is the only MMO in which almost all content is relevant. Just to point out an important fact. Anyone who wants to get the game make sure you get the Complete elder dragon saga just the expansions are not enough if you want to experience the full story. In fact id argue the Living world episodes especially later ones are like mini expansions and they dont just give you more story they give new global abilities mounts and QOL features.

tranquilitydove1155: I tried getting into GW2 some time ago and I was just kinda confused like I didn't really know what I was supposed to be doing and stopped playing

QbenPL95: As a lifelong osrs player I really appreciate the gear not becoming outdated. I also have 2k hrs in Aion back in the day, and this game feels like a love child of those two but very much improved. You Miss have made a new GW2 player. Thank you for this awesome vid

NatiiixLP: I know many people who unsub from WoW/FFXIV between patches, which often means they're unsubbed for 8 months, then resub to come back to clear all new content in 1 month when a new raid tier is released, and then go away again. I think the absence of a subscription makes GW2 much more welcoming to people who want to come and go without the burden of any financial commitment. The way GW2's grind is structured also makes it a lot more appealing for the same type of audience.

I took a 2-month break from GW2 around the end of the year after grinding out the Fractal Incursion legendary, and when I returned, I could easily continue exactly where I left off, with a bit of extra VoE content to cover. Since the Wizard's Vault cycles are so long, I didn't even miss any major rewards from that system. My perspective may change if/when I finish all the PvE content, but for as long as there are things I haven't collected, I will feel that there's something to do, but at the same time there isn't a major hurry to do it now, unless there's some kind of event, like the Fractal Rush that just ended.

While the aesthetic of many zones is very pretty, the graphics are probably a major contributing deterrent to potential new players who see the game, especially the rather aged Core Tyria, and discard it as outdated/dead. The characters look very 2012 at a glance, compared to the popular eastern MMOs, many of which have vastly more modern lighting/shading engines. The absence of a sub makes the game seem more free-to-play, i.e. pay-to-win, and when people see the gem<>gold conversion system, it would be easy to get a negative impression of just how much of a money sink character/gear progression. Granted, there are some really significant cash shop items (looking at you, TP2F saving me from weekly JPs), and you can technically buy legendary weapons with real money, sort of, but most items you only need to ever pay for once and they'll stay useful for all characters for a long time.

ANet also invested a lot into marketing VoE to a wider and more mainstream audience, which is possibly why the game saw an uptick in active players on Steam, although I'd personally not suggest to anyone to use the Steam client, since they still haven't managed to merge accounts from different platforms, just like Square Enix...

CarlosOliveira-oq1jx: When I get bored in WoW, I play Guild Wars 2, but I always end up going back to WoW. It's a great game, but there isn't a large Latin American community, and it feels distant to us.

cagataysuhan: Ah yes, the manadatory yearly "Is GW2 worth playing in 202X" with absolutely not the same talking points over and over again. There are already like 10 videos with the same title lmao.
