Why NOW Is The Best Time To Start Guild Wars 2 Especially If You Are Leaving New World

HeaterCalhoun44: One thing I think needs clarity, is the pricing for expansions. People typically gloss over the prices, and mention that they always go on sale. I think it makes expansions sound like they are in the $50 dollar range when sales are brought up in videos. This is not the case. All expansions are $25. And I think this should be more readily pointed out. That is less than 2 months of subscription cost in WoW and FF14. That is a significant point imo. One month of subscription cost in EVE Online is $20. GW2 expansions are dirt cheap. Because most MMO players can afford 2 months of subscription cost to their favorite MMOs. The barrier to expansion entry in GW2 is very low. And I wish more videos got more specific on this point.

BlueMammoth2024: I’m a New World refugee that’s watching this video.

davidvidya9657: Other MMOs upon launching from launcher:

- company logo

- company logo

- company logo

- loading screen

- character select

- loading screen

- you're in the game (SURPRISE CASH SHOP WINDOW)

GW2

- character select

- you're in the game (animated expansion icons on your lower right screen)

Who does that?

Lyudo: Screw AGS, going back to GW2 and got the new xpac. Cya in shaemoor my friends.

RobinDuehring: HUGS to fellow MMO players, losing a beloved game is rough. Y'all are certainly welcome to come visit us in Tyria, You can try out Guild Wars 2 for free. There's hundreds of hours of premium core content you can enjoy before ever laying a penny down. We love new folks, we have a vibrant, very active and supportive community. If you are avid MMO player, I guarantee you will find a game mode in Guild wars 2 that will vibe with your play style: PvP, PvE, WvW, Raiding, Exploring, crafting, homesteading, legendary armory, Jumping Puzzles, Mounts, Races, Fishing, Underwater exploration and combat, epic open world fights and so much more.

Nicosfrs: I dropped around 3 years ago. I started playing wow classic and retail. Now I realize when I came back, that all my legendary items are still top-end late game viable, even after 3 years!!. That made me realize how dumb it feels to grind for everything again every 3 months on wow...

bobshewmake5369: I started playing around a month ago as well...and I will say this video is 100% on the nose on every point. Something I would like to add, as being someone that enjoys playing classes 'differently' than the normal metas in games, the customization in professions and playstyles is insane. A ranged warrior? Got it. Melee Caster? Yep. Support Tanks? Yessir. Everything from melee elementalists to ranged guardians, you don't even need to change your builds, just simply equip a different weapon and you are basically a whole new class. Every profession can cater to ANY playstyle, so the whole mentality of 'I don't like warriors/casters/etc.' goes right out the window. It sounds weird, but you can level to 80 in a few hours, but there is honestly enough content to keep on playing for years. Great game and great video.

ipunchedu8884: I think the main reason people don’t connect instantly with gw2 is cause people are used to the other mmo design of questing. The moment I kinda stopped comparing and tried to see what they were doing it just clicked

Volodimiraz: GW 2, FF14, OSRS, hell even smaller indie MMOs like Project Gorgon or the upcoming OKUBI look a lot more delicious now with the aftertaste that New World fiasco has left in my mouse. OKUBI in particular since it's looking to be when it comes the only indie PvP MMO alternative that isn't pay 2 win

Sev-j3: I came to GW2 from XIV, and loving it. Alas one of my friends who was NW player, simply lost all want to play MMO's. And seeing both discord and reddit, closing NW is hitting people hard. There isn't another MMO like that, it was unique. And it's also sad for any MMO fan. Because with this shut-down, even more companies will not want to make any MMO, even if Amazon couldn't pull it off. And we all know why they ''couldn't'' Greed.

siffegy: having a blast on my mesmer main again!

saint75401: Saw few comments saying there is no controller support, But if u are on steam u can use a controller. I am using it more than 2 years now

JosepiSopp: MY FELLOW NEW WORLD REFUGEES. The Guild Wars community is nice and knowledgeable asf. Welcome home!

trypn0: Great video. My thoughts exactly. It's a special game.

Apheleion: skyscale is like a helicopter and the griffon is like a jet,

capnmorgan867: RIP New World. I just blew $54.93 to get the Premium Pass (mostly for cosmetics Giant Fox mount). Now I have less than a year to complete all Trade Skills, do some stuff I've wanted to do. Amazon Executives should learn that millionaires are never happy, even if their greed makes them billionaires they will never be satisfied. Lost Souls, all of them.

Kezzic: This hurts so bad man. I don't want to leave NW.

Husmanmusic: Unfortunately a lot of people who play new world play it for the atmosphere and graphics aswell. And that unfortunately is something Guildwars 2 cant provide

Jett125: NEW PLAYERS! USE THE ADVENTURE HANDBOOK!

I would like to say to any fellow story skippers. I skipped all the story and love the game.

huntatla1216: GW2 doesn't have what NW had, and unfortunately, it can't replace it.

risunapple105: gonna keep playing new world for the time being but i dont think i'll play another mmo for a while. only three mmos have been able to give me that feeling of home and all 3 got shutdown relatively quickly (new world, maplestory 2, wildstar), besides even if gw2 can be action combat there's just nothing else like new world's combat on the market, i don't really want to downgrade to hybrid action like gw2 or eso or god forbid some tab target mmo i can't go back to that lmao

RadioAeternum: there is no any mmorpg like New World.

marcinsarniak: I have so many amazing memories with my friends and guild in this game. It's sad to see New World die like this.

wretchedknave5740: I have been a Guild Wars player since 2006. I have 15k hours in GW2. I took a break and been playing New World for over a year now. (When Aeternum released) game was good. Got really good with Angry Earth expansion and Nighthaven honestly put it in top tier. It feels a bit wrong to say this but I had no intention to return to GW2 anytime soon as I was having such a blast in New World. Pretty gutted New World is over. But Guild Wars 2 has never let me down - I always end up returning to it one way or another. Yes it’s semi-tab targeting but the combat generally speaking is probably the best I have played in any MMO especially PVP. You can also have action cam for the hardcore New World players. So for any New World players I would highly recommend GW2, it really is one of the best if not the best MMO out there at the moment.

user-ob4kn3rp3j: Not to mention Sylvari Female is voiced by Jennifer Hale herself. The Commander Shepard.

nallari411: theres so many things i love about gw2. i have played it for like 300 hours and i want to love it soooo much. but i just dont like the combat. i tried so hard to play it despite not liking the combat but its such a huge part of an mmo.

LordGrape: As a returning GW2 player, one of the best features about coming back (especially if you buy new content/expacs, etc) you are not forced to do story. You can go straight to endgame content if you want and do the story later (or never if you chose) and you don't really miss out on much.

Now in some cases, some critical masteries (especially ones that have extremely high QoL, like mounts) may require specific story chapters to unlock, but most aren't too bad to get to.

GW2 does a fantastic job of respecting your time AND doesn't erase all the work you did when you last played (7 years ago in my case!)
