eksleja: I started playing GW2 last year with Janthir Wilds launch and you're right, Heart of Thorns is what got me super addicted to the game. HoT was the absolute BEST exploration experience I've had in any video game.

If the price for Verdant Brink or Tangled Depths is a loading screen, screw seamless world.

Map design is far, far more important than having a big empty thing.

5133937: HoT is a masterclass in map design, especially Verdant Brink (map 1) and Tangled Depths (map 3). Verdant Brink is incredibly vertical in an upward direction, and TD is vertical in a downward direction. You're exactly right both maps are giant map-wide puzzles, basically. I played HoT when it was current content and still get lost in TD today. Their explorability never gets old.

Atlas3060: GW2, especially Heart of Thorns, really was "fair" in how it laid you out on the ground and made you tank the floor.

You'd be there dead as a doornail and it just says "So what did we learn?" and now suddenly you're rethinking either that glass cannon armor you have or practicing your dodges better. The game doesn't care how you go about it, just improve.

dahak2358: As far as relevancy, HoT is likely the most relevant expansion out of all. It consistently ranks either at or near the top in player rankings, and is the one expansion pretty much all players keep returning to. next one in line (PoF) for example failed in that regard, lacking any meaningful metaevents/worldbosses to sustain it longterm. It did introduce mounts though. And mounts are one of the things that make frustration from HoT map traversal way lower than it once was.

Zivuzx: Guild wars 2 heart of thorns is a good expansion but the hero challenges in there are HARD !!!!!

It really was the WotLK of GW2 in that it was so good that it set the standard for every expansion since though none of them even came close and it almost seems like Anet has stopped trying. Don't get me wrong GW2 is still the best MMO out there but it definitely peaked in PoF.
