Shopping Cartjanellems: Moms are playing this game too! I played this when it came out originally and my husband and I only had one kid at the time, then life got busy, 4 kids later and we both got hyped to hear about guild wars 3 so I jumped back in and it's like coming home. Now our first baby is 14 and plays the games with us and this is a great MMO for him to try, my younger kids love watching me play this as well.
actuallyroger: Playing again for the first time since yesterday. Amazing game.
bradenjoseph1692: This was such a relatable video to watch. I saw the gw3 was coming out and gpt excited and wanted to start gw2 but it felt like a chore to progress to "catch up" or I only had an hour to play after the kids went to sleep but this video spoke so many truths. I'm going to download it and play casually and just enjoy my time. Cheers for the video from another busy tired dad haha
Surokkh: I went into this video thinking "Oh great, another video trying to turn the levelling experience into an instruction manual and a checklist." So I watched the entire thing.
And I'm glad I did, because I can now safely say it's one of the most humane new player videos I've seen for GW2.
I there was going to be talk of how to maximize gold, resources, crafting legendaries ASAP, etc. But no, you did a wonderful job, and did the game justice.
For any new players, or people wanting to get into the game - everything the man says is true in my experience. Good old curiosity and openness go a long way in GW2. It opens doors to so much joy and many fun experiences for you. Absolutely disregard the amount of content there is and go at your own pace - you're not losing out on anything. And if something simply doesn't interest you, that's completely chill, just don't play that part of the game.
I'm mainly an open world enjoyer myself, and at times I felt like I be earning more gold and stuff through PvP and WvW. But I don't enjoy PvP content. Learning to let that go allowed me, time and time again, to appreciate what I do love about GW2 a lot.
75shakedown: Bit of advice during that first playthrough, put your core Tyria mastery points into the one that ends with auto loot first, fractal ones you can work on later after capping.
droidix: Your quote “curiosity first, optimization second” is spot on!
hawk4192: New players looking for a small, casual guild can look for Legion of the Core. We were a founding Guild, but over the years life pulled most members away. Looking to rebuild and expand. Hit us up if you're on the US server some time! Happy to help through getting you started out!
m4rk_90: Hey, thanks for the video. Just started playing again after several years and it was very overwhelming at first. I had that feeling of being "too late to the party" kind thing. Going to stick with it. Played thousands of hours of GW1 back in the day. Didn't gel with GW2 originally.
michaelpants: I'm thinking of starting up! I love that there will be rewards in GW3 for completing things in GW2.
LoadedTunafish: insta subbed. What a calming, amazing video.
Stands-In-The-Fire: This is a very well put together wealth of new player advice, especially if people are coming from other MMOs. Nicely done!
derpydelame3226: You sounded like a dad teaching his first born about his first MMO and i liked that lol
LiLei-mi4nh: this video is exactly what we need now. ThX
dela911: Great video thank you. I’m a WoW player who recently made a casual char on GW2 and I think you made some good points. Definitely understand that feeling of being excited to finally come home to play only to then not know wtf to do that night.
ScottysAnimals: Everything seems so serendipitous to me right now. I have a friend who loves guild wars 2. I used to play lol and have been playing again and asked them what game they play. I started GW2 about a month ago. Necromancer engineer asura I think. I'm at level 34 and really enjoying exploring. To be a noob and see the community so enthusiastic about GW3 and the future of GW2 and this reawakening that is happening is very fun to be a part of.
David106-d9c: Great guide ,thanks. I started a new Ranger Enjoying it a lot.
glenhendler7709: In addition to the advice in this video, I would suggest balancing crafting disciplines across characters and match them with each class to make them easier to remember, e.g heavy armor class makes heavy armor. I also recommend using a mouse with buttons on the side. I activate skills 0 through 6 with my thumb.
CDBAILEY: Hey, this vid was awesome.
I played GW2 at launch but sadly none of my friends back then were in to it so I didn't stick around. After the GW3 trailer I decided to give it another go and I'm loving it.
I'm in a similar stage of life with a job, family and commitments. In between the time I last played until now my wife has also picked up gaming and this video is the perfect explanation as to why GW2 is "not just the same" (her words) as FFXIV.
I've hit subscribe, looking forward to more of your stuff on my feed.
IUrgez: Man you should do more GW2 content. Loved it
rasmachris94: Man, I'm guilty of the trying to complete everything before I move on mindset.
It's literally killed my enjoyment for some games.
So I think my goal [returning with a fresh character] in GW2 is to just do the main quest and pick at things that interest me like open world events to reach a high enough level to continue the main quests.
MMO's are massive, especially long running ones - there is no shame in curating your experience.
wibblesobb: i was ur 1000th follower lol also new to the game wish me luck
DocSardo: Good video. I would also suggest trying all weapon types and combinations (if you can dual wield) that are possible for your character. You may find that you are not enjoying a staff that much for your mesmer, for example, but may end up loving dual wield swords or a greatsword. Playstyles can be very different depending on the weapon, so it is worth trying other weapon types before abandoning that profession. There are merchants that sell common (white) versions of all of the weapon types for cheap, so there is no excuse not to try them all.
SammyTheBu11: This has been my main mmo since launch so I have easily over 2000hrs and I play it very casually basically just on weekends at this point but even with that I have all the mounts and a decent amount of legendaries.
I feel like my main advice is just take your time a lot of mmo's are a race to end game then the real game begins but GW2 is different in my opinion. The journey is the best part especially if your a mainly a PVE player.
Also if you are going to buy the expansions and you haven't finished the base game and can wait, I would wait there are a ton of sales on them throughout the year.
Omatic8: Just started 2 days ago
eliudrodriguez2708: Should I play on Steam or the official launcher? I know sales are better outside of Steam, but I like having everything there so much that I'm willing to pay a little extra. But are there any other downsides to playing on Steam?
ChefMurdah: This video helped me out, I played this earlier in the year and just felt overwhelmed with what do i do or where do i go so I back burnered it and just gave it another try this past week. definitely gonna utilize this perspective
tijnieken: Ive been playing on and off for 12 years and only have a 1000ish hrs into the game. Other than a few world events I mainly play WvW. What I mostly love about the game is that my core/heart of thorns elite specs and my marauder/berserker ascended gear is still very relevant versus way more experienced players who have played 10000s of hours. It respects your time in the sence that if you know your build well enough you are competitive (even with exotic gear). I never played the story or any of the expansions as I fall asleep doing them. Some may call me a casual for being a reaper main, yet I still keep coming back to it :)
