MisterNonspecific: I saw that popular streamer guy "win" that black lion chest contract. I'm guessing it was rigged, and his adventures in GW2 was just a paid advertisement by Anet. (Which was smart, BTW, if that's what happened. We always say that Anet needs better marketing... well... that incident certainly made some waves online. Everyone was talking about it, and it built up hype for the game). I imagine the streamer "quitting GW2 because he lost at PVP" was just his excuse to move on. He was only being paid for a short while (I'm assuming). The commercial wasn't going to last forever. ;)
