The Visions of Eternity Story IMPRESSED ME SPOILERS Guild Wars 2

DavidHammond-xf3gb: His disdain for immortals; and our history with the Elder Dragons, it makes me wonder if the Human Gods are returning now that the dragons are gone, and Vloxx plans to fight them.

saritor: I think Vloxx went into it knowing exactly how it would play out with Sebb. You're just seeing him being disappointed in Sebb for being predictable.

jrovel07: I couldn't tell you more than the basics of the stories of previous expasions, when I got to the end of the story of VOE, I was thinking... "THAT'S where you're going to end it?! You can't leave us hanging here!" That's the ultimate compliment for the story in this expansion. The map and events are quite fun too.

Kantharr: Love the spoilers! I would love to see a spoiler & speculation podcast with you, Laranity, and wooden potatoes.

glowdonk: Sayida got INCINERATED the entire time and it's so funny that Rytlock and Canach are calling out Sayida when she talks about the Inquest, with Canach going as far as to recall the time Sayida sold us out to Joko

raeshin13: I just get the vibe in that last fight that Vloxx was talking to the Commander more than Sebb with "take your time." That look just says... "Make him pay, Commander."

repapeti98: Saving this video for later. After I get paid, I'll definitely buy the expansion but until then, hang tight and take this engagement comment.

pyrakitt: I'm so excited, this has been really good so far and I really enjoy your theory.

Yeah on one hand the whole "I'm evil and I"m doing evil things but it's for the Greater Good and you'll understand and support me when you just come around to my way of thinking" thing has been done in a fair bit of media recently. On the other, It would be really neat if they lampshaded the trope this time and there really was a big bad that even the Wizard's Tower didn't see coming and this Was the best way to deal with it.

The irony of the secret society that couldn't tell anyone of the good they were doing but just trust me bro not seeing the BBE that was much higher up the chain ends up being saved by the Evil Mastermind who did see it coming but for whatever reason felt he had to do it this way. Basically I think it would be cool if Vloxx remained irredeemably evil but still saved Tyria.

GasMaskKai: theyve definetely listened and learned with VOE from Soto and JW. Much stronger world building, using a cast of allies we know so you dont have to build a backstory but expand on an existing one, much more enjoyable maps WITH a strong META, engaging story with characters with motivations other than kill, skimmer feels fun, map exploration feels diverse, and the especs just add a layer of player enjoyment

albertotokos3679: I think the story could be linked to the demise of tyria itself. First of all, in Tyria there was this elder races: Seers, Mursaat, Jotun, Dwarves and the Forgotten.

The Seers created the bloodstone and the shadowstone and both requires some sacrifice and a ritual to obtain inmense magic. The reason behind this was to be safe from the cataclysm of the elder dragons. Thanks to the commander, this is no longer a problem (although killing every dragon almost destroyed the magic balance of tyria and the void almost consumed everything in the tyrian plane), so in SoTo, when rifts start appearing, we meet the astral ward, a group of mages which the most important members of it are representatives from the elder races (except the Forgotten, which I think there is so little about this race) that are "inmortals" due to the ritual of ascension that Isgarren does to every mage.

In SoTo, we fight against the kryptis, demonic creatures that tries to invade tyria through the rifts created after the dead of the elder dragons. Visual aspect of the kryptis reminds me of Abaddon, the God of Secrets. The name of the expansion is Secrets of The Obscure so maybe in one way or another, we could have known more about the misteries of Abaddon's origin. Also between the storyline, mabon, a mage mursaat, dies.

In JW, the astral ward opens to the world and unites with the Tyrian forces. The discovery of a koda's race in janthir that doesn't have a Voice of Koda starts a diplomatic mission in order to collaborate to the new menace: the titans. Titans were kept sealed by mabon. When mabon dies, titans returned and we discovered that they were white mantle members, shaped and forged in the realm of torment with the suffering of the souls trapped in the bloodstone. According to the lore, Abaddon was imprisoned in the realm of torment, where titans are created, so finally a bit of more lore about Abaddon. Before e continue, I know that Abaddon is dead and Kormir took his place as a god but, death doesn't mean the end. On the Final Chapter of JW Mabon appears in front of everyone, not as a vision, but as a "ghost" form that explains that mursaat lives in different planes all at once and the death of a mursaat in one plain doesn't mean a total death, so maybe we could have got more lore about, Abaddon, the margonites and the other plains mabon was talking about. Instead, JW story felt rushed, and the only time we got access to the realm of torment is to fight the souls of 3 humans (the white mantle guys), and there were posibilities to do so much (bava nisos is a titan city after all, but it was like before mordremoth's final battle in dragons defense meta event) so there were no space of new lore.

Finally, in VoE, we know:

* There is a great menace coming(?) for tyria

*A guy from the inquest wants power to ascend just like the seers to fight

*The astral ward is not as powerfull as we thought

*Seers may not be dead just exiled/dissapeared from tyrian plain

*The eternal alchemy may have an important impact this expansion (after all, the inquest is in the middle)

So I think that the cataclismic event this time would be the eternal alchemy in some way (or the eternal alchemy is a ritual or something else), maybe without beings that causes calamities/ consumes large amounts of magic, the world is doomed. Or maybe, a land centered about the water and secrets of the Seers, finally can reveal the Secrets of the fallen God of Secrets and Water, Abaddon (also Kormir mentions that the death of Abaddon released a ton of magic, causing the elder dragon primordius to move), how Abaddon created the margonites (initially humans that were ascended by abaddon and aquired an ethereal demonic form)

or maybe I am just wrong

followthewolves1991: Do you think it might be the gods returning?

Maybe they left under the guise of fleeing the dragons, but perhaps there were other motives?

I hope its something cool and they can keep up the writing. The Kryptis were also supposed to be a big bad, iirc lol.

MunkeeBreath: Vloxx is exactly why I loved the asura in gw1 and fell out of love in gw2. They’re conniving, cunning, and very sharp schemers not some cutesy character. So good to see these asura again.

sqrrlbot: I need a lot more speculation and theories about all this, it feels amazing to actually have some INTRIGUE in the story. Vloxx is a fascinating character, amazing voice acting, genuinly interested in his motivations and end goal.

My biggest hope is that the threat he's talking about actually IS large and dangerous enough to be at least somewhat worthy of his methods (even if they're clearly questionable) and that it doesn't just come down to "Vloxx bad, Isgarren good" in the end, because Isgarren really is shady AF and I really fear we're just going to excuse his withholding vital information and move on.

NVSpartan: Other complaints aside, the story is pretty good. Cheese was kept to a minimum and Anet didn't girl boss the thing. Vloxx doesn't seem very asuran though.

ThomasLuongo: when you realize that the 3 mini expansions taken together are a full expansion doled out over three years, at a post-Biden-flation price, the past three years makes a lot more sense.

imtypax8341: Bro Vloxx is voice acted by silco himself. Crazzy

AjaniGoldmaneFFXIV: Me personally-

Story really good!

The huge amount of busy work and collections? Huge turn off. I was waiting for a lot more story beats or just talking between characters, but I just get another collection to do. And I just really disliked that part.

In conclusion- great story! Horrible busy work.

MD-ee2fq: On the topic of voice acting. I dont remember how Mercer was doing the voice of canach in EOD but i remember how i didnt like it in Champions. He sounded really close to the Canach i knew in the older seasons and im really impressed by it

Kossage: There were a few issues in the plot unless I missed some key details.

Both the Inquest and the alliance are able to sail from Rata Sum and Lion's Arch to Castora, yet the story seems to forget that EoD made a big deal about there still being a notable Risen fleet of Dead Ships patrolling the sea between Orr and Ring of Fire, thus forcing Kasmeer and co to use an airship to reach Cantha under an illusion. If the Risen are still such a menace, how did any fleet get past what may be hundreds of active ships commanded by intelligent champions? Just because Zhaitan is dead, the champions wouldn't stop being a problem as we saw e.g. Tequatl receiving a power boost post-Zhaitan, and the same should be true for other surviving Risen champions as well.

Sayida's statement mentions seeing Castora on the horizon when ships veered a bit off course from Cantha. The statement makes me think as if Castora is next door (which the world map might make one think), but as per the measurements in Ghosts of Ascalon novel (where crossing the shortest bit of Brand takes circa a day when in-game we can cross it in 15 seconds, and it takes circa a week to get from Ebonhawke to Ascalon City Ruins), the distance between Castora and Tyria is vast, and any ship bound to Cantha would have to get really off course to even see the silhouette of Castora given all the miles you'd have to sail west "accidentally".

I was also a bit disappointed that, to my knowledge, High Inquisitor Maut (who has both a mini and an ascended amulet, Conundrum of Maut, with an interesting lore tied to him but who has never shown up in story) didn't make an appearance in VoE even though the ascended amulet seemed to suggest that the original writers might've planned him to either be the leader of the Inquest or some top enforcer given his title. I wonder if they'll ever canonize Maut, perhaps making him Vloxx's predecessor to smooth things over. Or someone they might be saving for later if we ever get a Depths of Tyria expansion with Inquest...

handheadman: I may make a mess of this for not having an encyclopedic knowledge of the game (and the laziness to not look it all up), and it's a ramble of thoughts, but...

We've revisited the story of Abaddon, who gave magic to the mortal races of Tyria, in various ways over the years. The human gods, I believe, brought their own, different flavor of magic into Tyria when they arrived, bringing the human race with them. The seers and muursaat sequestered native Tyrian magic (and god magic from humans?) in shadowstones and bloodstones, respectively, to prevent the dragons from waking, since dragons feed on magic and would wipe out magic users. (The mursaat also used bloodstone to power a barrier (the Door of Komalie) to seal the titans (Abaddon's creations) in the realm of torment, because the dragon Glint revealed a prophecy that the mursaat would be destroyed by the titans. Castora is loaded to the brim with magic. Aurene has contained the lion's share of magic that was released from the other elder dragons when we killed them. In End of Dragons we learned of The Void, a different pool of magic, native to the Mists, that combines the various forms that powered each of the elder dragons, but itself is all-corrupting, and essentially an anti-life element. The inquest have notoriously meddled a great deal with magic, most notably combining chaos magic with dragon magic (influenced by Scarlet) causing the catastrophic Thaumanova Reactor explosion, and Kudu's efforts to create his own dragon minions, and even combining it with technology (the iron forgeman). I noticed signs of void magic in Castora, most notably being used by a champion inquest golem. There's an asura called Vlox in the original Guild Wars, set 250 years ago, is Vloxx named for him, or is he somehow one and the same? (Probably the former, but the latter was an interesting thought) Is Vloxx, as Mukluk suggests, planning to distribute more magic to mortals? Maybe he hopes to power them up so they can fight what will eventually become the ultimate enemy, the Void? Aurene has the Void under control, for now, right? But the future is always uncertain. Blah, blah, blah, I could go on, but my main point is that all this seems to be coming to a head with so many reveals in the story and scattered reading material, particularly since End of Dragons, making me really curious where the rest of this expansion is headed, and what might follow. A lot of plot lines are converging in this release. Exciting times!

Apologies for whatever whatever grammar issues I may have unloaded, and the scattered thoughts, but this expansion has my mind abuzz already and I just figured I'd dump some of it here.

nd6886: Well good thing they have another 6 months to cook.

JulioBiason: When you mentioned the "orcs vs humans conflict made both stronger", I thought that maybe the idea is to break the race alliance apart, making everyone fight, making everyone stronger. And that will draw a nice parallel in which the start of the expansion is like "every race is providing things to make the whole stronger".

FurosutoJouku: I feel like Muk is entering his Villain Arc slowly showing on this video. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

asgarzigel: I'm so glad we have a compelling villain again.

Reiea_: This has me super excited to see where they go with it

mrditendat: Story looks promising, I'm sad they killed Sebb so early though. He looked like an interesting character, someone we could've hated and disliked during the rest expac.

And I really liked the mobs (augmented animals) he created, I really hope we will see more of those.
