Shopping Cartjacobruiter592: As a Dad and adult with many other responsibilities and duties the Wizard Vault was 100% designed with players like me in mind.
The less friction a game has the more likely I will spend time in the game and play. Maybe I will spend a bit of money as well.
n1cemaiden879: Might be a hot take:
If a person requires a system like the WV to keep engaging with the game, it's worth stepping back and assessing if they actually want to play the game or just like the easy dopamine wearing the gw2 skin.
Imo being mindful of why we spend our time doing any activity is healthy for our brain.
Thizzin406: Also if your just logging in to get your weekly is not playing the game .. thats a job
Greggggy98: I disagree with this take. Wizards Vault got me back into the game, when I realized that I could play casually and still get a full set of ascended gear eventually. I still run lots of raids and raid encounters for the magnetite, when I have the time.
I really like that gw gives you the freedom to approach the game however you like without forcing people to do one particular type of content for the best items. That to me has always been one of the biggest strengths of the game, especially when compared to WoW or FFXIV.
geromewypukol: If it wasnt for the vault I wouldnt play anymore. After all story and doing every frac and raid a couple times, I dont have a goal to go for that feels worth it repeating the previous stuff SOOOOO many times. I dont see crafting legendaries the old school way worth my time no more. Id rather play what I feel like most but still have a progress via the vault
shakeweller: Maybe that's how I got full legendary equipment in just over a year of playing the game :D
Mars-1995: I think whizards vault was one of the best updates. It's so much fun and rewarding
vninga: I appreciate your opinion as a GW2 vet who's likely completed most of the content in the game.
From someone who's just returned after playing about 100h at launch then putting the game down until now, the WV factors in very little on what I do or don't do in GW2. I play the game to have fun, not collect things just for the sake of doing them.
I like fishing, so I learned some profitable methods to make money with fishing and do that here and there. I like crafting and gathering a lot in games, so I'm maxing all my crafting professions regardless of how useful they are or aren't because it's fun to make stuff.
I'm chasing legendaries because it's fun to have a medium to long term goal to go after. I'll likely make multiple legendaries in the course of a single WV season (I have enough free time to play 3 hours a day most days), not just relying on the "free" one from the WV.
I think ultimately if you enjoy the game, your going to play it regardless of how much or little free stuff you get. If I'm not having fun I'm not just going to login to collect my weekly and log out, I'll play something else instead :P
I personally think you've played gw2 so long that you have hard time taking a step back to take a break if you ran out of content to chase, and that's okay. I just think other newer or more casual players likely have a different take than you on this one.
I appreciate your opinion and thoughts on it regardless! Have a great day!
frostdracohardstyle: Wizards vault is good at getting people to engage with the game. It gives them direction.
But the rewards inflated gold in the economy, which is why they removed the infinite gold. It's why they made gift of fortune unsalvageable. It's why you can't really make money on gen 1 legendaries anymore essentially destroying the point of doing map completion if you aren't a psycho like me.
Anyone still complaining about being poor in GW2 is out of their mind considering it has 2k gold for a single clear. The game needed a bit more direction for casual players, however WV was pretty heavy handed. The same with the VoE mirror farms.
Tillionz: Interesting take on the wizards vault. I don't disagree 100% but I think revamping the log-in rewards was necessary I went from no gold to well over 2000k gold because of the old logging system and having only 4 accounts. I think they needed to fix that issue. But I think you are right when it comes to the ease of getting ascended items and legendary components from the wizards vault. It's not 100% healthy for the player base and as a vet the ascended items are useless and the legendary box makes getting legendaries trivial. I think they should reevaluate the rewards in the vault as they have been doing every "season"
Thizzin406: My problem with not doing raids anymore is its literally where 97% of the people doing raids are assholes so i stay away got what i needed and will never raid again
ThePastaSawce: IMHO I like the wizard vault. As someone who plays as a casual, but is actually playing through story, events, and dipping my toes in endgame stuff, the WV has help me do those things with it's dailies and weeklies. I'm starting to do map completion and get my crafting to 500 now because I want the early leggys too. Also, the WV leggy kits help with not having to grind as much (cause there is still grinding if you want to do it properly) which is also nice.
kesamek8537: Wizards Vault has a mobile phone U.I. that conflicts with every other menu system in the game. It looks, feels and sounds horribly immersion breaking like something from a different game. A mobile game.
The system itself is a free battle pass because GW2 followed the mindless battle pass crowd. It is fundamentally anti-ANet to blindly follow the herd instead of innovating.
What would be better? Some simple plot driven collection that takes players to rarely visited parts of maps many never see or forgot since their leveled their 1st character. Something actually GW2.
gusblacksmith9: Maybe the real wizard's vault was the friends we've made along the way
Zorro-Anónimo: I remember having to level up most of my craftings to make ascended gears and a a few legendaries... but now I'm stacking ascended chests effortlessly... making of crafting something you can definitely bypass. Also, there's so many legendaries who've been added that a thing who was ment to be prestigious and unique became the norm. It's a matter of time until mobs will start dropping legendaries...
IchiExorz: The reason why people don't like battle passes are usually coz they're an extra microtransaction and because they create fomo.
Anet made the Wizard's vault that has neither of those 2 problems. That's why most people seem to enjoy it. It doesn't matter if it's still a "battle pass" if you remove the parts that people dislike abot them.
I think it's cleverly designed so people who want to play get rewarded more by playing the game and people who don't want to play don't feel bad for not playing because the season exclusive items don't leave the vault and the generic rewards will be there next vault too.
I can see the rewards being too good being an issue & i haven't played much in the last year. But i remember the rewards being great but nothing too much that invalidated other content.
ned71cro: @ 8:00 ''login on monday, do weekly, log out...'' Why do you still play this game then, if that's a playing at all? It's known that gw2 is maybe the biggest MMO out there, and for sure 99% of the players didn't explore 10% of this enormous game. As an Arena partner maybe you should consider cancelling that partnership and focus on some other games tbh.
KimahEye: So your whole take is "I like playing in groups and the WV makes it easier to solo stuff, so it's bad"?
I hate playing with other people, especially in things where you get screamed at if you don't have a very specific build and/or know your rotation to the 0.1 milisecond. The WV is a godsend.
Also there are some casual players who don't have hours to sink into the game while appreciating it, and punishing them for not devoting their entire life to the game is not healthy either.
Making it easier for ppl like me doesn't make it harder for ppl like you, so why are you complaining? Do things in group if you like it and leave people like me alone. What was even the point of this video?
xecor1: Gaming has changed, nobody has time to play full time the whole world of tyria to gain something especially when getting most end game rewards in gw2 are spread out in terms of materials. Wizards vault is a blessing which solved key issues with gw2 in current era. The fact that few players feel that they arent playing core game anymore doest not indicate that they are playing wizard vault simulator its either that they dont have enough time to play core content or they have played it enough times and now bored or they feel its dated content now and wizard vault is a way to keep these players still in the game rather than people fizzling out due to not being able to make end game items.
Ian.Farrell: I can agree that some of the items to reduce interaction with the game. I feel like some small changes could make a world of difference, maybe something like (I will also point out that I had never fully made a legendary weapon until these kits, only just started the gift collections for some) Legendary Starter Kits should not give the gift of {enter Legendary here}. It should give some similar in time/value but not remove the widespread world interaction that it seems like those gifts take in the original creation method.
eliseren9127: I only get about 2h (if im lucky) nightly to play. Between weekly and bounty raids, fractals, story, open world, mirrors....I don't have much time left so having the WV come up every quarter with some sweet rewards is pretty cool. Plus a lot of players squad up for the meta events which is a breath of fresh air. I don't agree about changing the rewards but I can be convinced to raising the required completed objectives for the weekly chest.
Mr.DustyOstrich: I could definitely see the rewards being a bit TOO good for the passivity of it. But I feel like it’s definitely designed with players who don’t have the time to play hours on end to still get some kind of account progression.
While it may take you an hour and a half to finish the weeklies, it can take some of us the entire week to finish them. But I can understand and respect the perspective of a person who does have the time to play hours on end every week that the wizard vault can be easy and quick account progression that takes players away from specific content.
Though as a WvW only player, it is nice to have something like the wizard vault since WvW rewards are severely lacking compared to PvE content. Hopefully the new reward system they implement will fix that problem, even if just a little.
Fredericke-q1v: yep, couldn't agree more. it made everything trivial and meaningless. it's on par (not actually much worse imo) than all the level80 boosts they're handing out like free candy. those boosts make leveling redundant the same way the WV is making crafting redundant. and that used to be an imporatnat part, for gameplay AND the economy. idk why they straight-up assume people don't actually want to play the game. (edit: sorry, guess i was wrong. after reading the comments i have to realize that people actually don't want to play the game.)
Nimoot: Honestly I have more fun on Guild Wars Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, and Eye of the North ... I know the builds on there won't get nerfed into oblivion, or new content will come out that will break anything... GW2 is an Ocean of content but only Puddle deep.
far-v8c: the game has been pointless since SotO xDDD
Thizzin406: And in my experience with this game the wizards vault didnt ruin it what did was the allowing of blish and a dmg meter those ruined the game
Buran01: I disagree because since the latest Wizzard Vault Nerf I've almost completely stopped playing the Game. Before there were reasons (37 gold coins a week) to do the daily, but nowadays I only play the first 3 weeks after the quaterly patch and them ho to Last Epoch and PoE II. Bad rewards means no engagement, and there's no reason to play content that is not fun and wastes my time...
