The Simplest Class Picking Guide In Guild Wars 2

XZ27977: I'm a new player. so I could be wrong, but I found that it was important to choose my class based on the specializations available rather than the base class. For example, I wanted an easy to play class while I was learning the game so finding out about Engineer -> Mechanist and Necromancer -> Reaper had a big influence on my decision.

dAIcco88: I feel like the elite specs are information that the player needs before picking a base "class". :)

LoadedLunchbox: Warrior in this game is peak warrior fantasy

Rook2838: I would love to see a video explaining what changes with each specialization for further look into the classes

knallkasten5159: Dual Pistol Thief. Easy and helped me a lot to enjoy the game much more

LunarValkyria: "Revenant con: a class based on using legends doesn't use a single legend from a race whose whole philosophy is about creating legends." - salty Jora fan(me)

Tavatrick: Could you do a video in basically the same style but for all elite specializations?

aprile1710: You can't have a consensus of one person.

OmegaChaosis: I think a video going over each of the elite specializations would be very nice, and is at least equally, if not more important than the base classes. I main weaver elementalist, and its so much to remember, but very fun. I have played off and on since 2014 and haven't really done too much outside of the elementalist until coming back to the game recently. I have caught up with the story and am now doing the Seasons of Dragons achievment for the legendary and for it I decided to swap to another class when I can. Well I have started with Revanant, and decided to go with Vindicator, I expected something along the lines of swapping between the aspects of the Alliance legend to burst damage, then heal, etc. Nope, Vindicator makes Final Fantasy Dragoons jealous with how much they jump (altered dodge).

Nektre16: Great video, would love to see part 2 that goes over elite specs and weapons that everyone can use (why longbow is so hated by arena), might be big project to get all specs into one video but perhaps split them based on armor types? From perspective of person that is addicted to change classes and characters to try everything elite specs and weapon options are huge deal when choosing a class, also vibe/thematic of the class.

곰바지: As a new player who started few weeks ago, knowing what weapons are popularly used by which classes helped a lot too.

Yes, all classes can wield almost all weapons but you can't help wanting to be efficient for your party or squad as well.

EKCO0310: I picked warrior because it truly can do EVERYTHING and the usability for almost every weapon really changes the feel of mix and mashing specs and weapon combos

LiLei-mi4nh: Merciii

jeffcullifer5629: I've been having a blast with my necro, except for his movement speed. He's a Norn and it feels like he wades through tree sap while walking, lol. I'll find a good workaround sometime.

demiurge_n_dragons: coming from ff14, there are still less buttons on the engineer and elementalist specs compared to ff14 jobs/classes.

"high APM" classes in this game just feels normal for me.

criticalglitch2384: Why dident you talk about the cleric?

ThatArchVillan: Thanks for the video. Gotta say I'm prolly going to go necro once I get bored of rifle deadeye. Helpful tips for those still on the fence on what to pick first or next.

GarredHATES: Nothing beats that feeling dodging everything and taking no damage with thief. It’s like CRACK to me

Jeffren92: I feel like this was such a good vídeo! Id love the same format but for each spec

osoevil9153: Necromancer. Base class has minions and life siphoning skills. Later you get the Reaper spec which gives you a second health bar basically. After trying out most classes, Necro was the class I least expected to be my main, but here we are.

Beriorn: For Elementalist you get a lot of mileage out of the Viper stats since it boost power damage and condition damage, with the downside being is that you're squishy as all hell. So if you want something sturdier you can go with either Marauder for Power builds or Trailblazer for Condition builds. The downside for both of those is that they do not boost the other's damage type, so if you have a Trailblazer build that's geared to the max you will be a lot less effective when trying to pick up Sword, Spear or Hammer. Ol' reliable Berserker works well for power builds, but it has the same issue as Viper has with survivability. For a fifth choice there's Celestial, which boosts all stats and goes great with the Catalyst Elite Specialization on account of Elemental Embodiment. That 20% boost to all stats is nice for all gear sets, but if you already have plenty of points in all stats you will become much more useful across the board and can do pretty much everything the profession has to offer without having to worry about stats.

scottcunni: question. Im a bit older and after working 40 years with my. hands its very hard now to game with kb/m so I use a controller. any controller players out there ? is the game controller friendly ? any specific classes that play better with the controller using skills ? appreciate any input.

jrovel07: Could you do a guide of elite specs where you show combat in action and how the class mechanic works. I went with Warrior for my first class and I find it's elite spec playstyles boring to me. I wish I saw how it looked/played in a fight. I also had a necromancer (base game) and it was the class i hated the most - until I got the elite spec reaper and just recently got into harbinger that I had tried once before for a short time and now loving that as well. They all feel different to play with different weapons. (Soulbeast hammer vs dual maces is a totally different feel and I'll take dual maces any day over hammer unless I absolutely had to.) It would have to be a long series probably. Necromancer: Elite spec =x this is how it plays. This is what it looks like to play it...

burakbarlasatak6843: Engineer is the best class design among all mmos with Mesmer again from gw2 imo , they are both super uniq. Nothing is like em. Its like the chefs special touch. Halosmith engi is real fun

williamnathanael412: Have been playing for ~700 hours now, just created my 5th character (thief) last week. Here's my experience so far:

1. Ranger/soulbeast: very easy, very forgiving. Have been my main ever since

2. Mesmer: quite difficult to understand the shatter mechanic, and seems to need to learn rotations due to the heal signet.

3. Necro/reaper: another easy one, really love the reaper shroud mechanic. I guess I just love bursty easy-to-play DPS builds

4. Revenant: initially confused with legends system due to the lack of choices at the slot skills, then suddenly it clicks and found out the builds are much more limited since slot skills are tied to the legends. Have been enjoying Dwarf spinny hammer so far.

Maybe should have tried guardian a bit earlier. Even complexity 2 classes are pretty complex for me, won't touch engr/ele any time soon.
