the least played class in guild wars 2

Apoxiosis: fun fact, as of very recently with the fractal incursion event, we know who the mist stranger is. like we had an idea before, but its confirmed now

CeeMz: Just started playing the game this week, been looking for a profession that I havent seen or played in other MMOs and went with Mesmer. Loving how not only do the specs change how you play but also the weapons, been loving great sword.

VampysWorld: Rev-Main here since his release: The most ppl I asked about, why they dont like to play rev, they always responds the struggle with energy management. And the funny thing is, that mostly that are thief, warrior or necro player - Professions which all have any kind of "energy" even its named in a other way. So I dont really get it... Revs are so strong and freakin flexible to play!

RobinDuehring: Congratz on your coming nuptials!

gailbrookhart1777: Thanks for the video. Enjoyed it.

Just an FYI...

Decided to get the weapon recipes (because it's important to look good while you have dead people in your head to keep you company) and it was a real snafu.

First, the whole UTC time conversion thing was bending my brain.

Second, the game said i didn't own the recipes when I first checked.

Third, when I got to one of the map locations and talked to the vendor, Zeghai, I was warned that I already owned 1 of the two things that the recipe teaches (the Revenant's Inscription) but didn't show that I knew the actual weapon recipe. It was my understanding that you could only know the inscription from learning at least one of the full weapon recipes.

Fourth, so I bought the recipe just to make sure because 13 silver is cheap to look good.

Fifth, now checking with my weaponsmith says I know ALL three weapon recipes and the inscription recipes when they didn't show up previously.

So I think that either Shiro or Mallyx just wanted to really mess with my head. LOL It sounds like something they would do.

misterbrady100: I switched mains recently as well. I took a break, and when I came back I decided to 'race change' my necromain from asura to human. I think humans look better in practically all the armors. I'm still on the journey of unlocking all the maps and other nick nacks in the game that I have unlocked for the old main. Sounds like you're in for a fun ride. Cheers.

DreamingDolphing: Revenant for those who find the warrior profession too boring.

baaz6968: The main reason I don’t like revenant is cause it’s the least flexible class. it has strong skills but there’s always a “but”, which is energy or legend swap. the support builds are also really weak so I don’t wanna play them

akki2283: Congratz Moo! And perfect timing on the video - was considering hopping back over the Guild Wars soon. Might actually try to get the flame sword in GW1 first before hopping back to GW2. :P Keep up the nice content ! :D

DreamwroughtAlchemy: The reason why I don't play rev much is definitely because it's locked behind an expansion. I started playing the game a few months after launch and stopped around the release of HoT. When I returned after a few years I still didn't have access to revenant and by the time a finally had, I already had a whole rosters of alts that I really enjoy. I eventually got around to adding another character slot and creating a rev and she is indeed a lot of fun, but I just find myself gravitating to my older characters. They already feel familiar and I am just more emotionally attached them. My rev is currently doing daily chest duty in Inner Nayos. I think the fact that revenant is locked behind expansions really skews the data, if you want to figure out how popular it actually is. You'd probably have to find a way to only count accounts that had access to rev from the get go, to get a fair comparison. Although judging from all the new player let's plays I have seen recently, you might end up with a questionably small sample size, since it's so rare for someone to invest in expansions early on.

Also, I think having a main is completely overrated in GW2. The game is just so alt friendly. While I do consider myself an engi main, I am actually a total alt hopper. Engi just happens to be the one I got around to getting better at first. And I currently have two engis that I constantly switch between. The only area where I feel forced to commit to one character is fractals, since agony resistance isn't account wide. Which is also one of the reasons I don't do fractals much. I can see how there are benefits to committing and mastering one class, but I think GW2 does a really good job of supporting the jack of all trades play style as well.

dallassukerkin6878: :grins: As someone with thirty characters the question of which one is my Main is always a bit fraught :D However, I do love my Renegades - totally not meta ... sword and shield Mage Knights!

CryptidBones: I've kinda done everything i wanted to do in the war within and this video showed up. Guess its a sign to get back to gw2 in the meantime.

baalmoloch4933: Just started messing with Hizen's open world vindicator build, and it is AWESOME!

jestmoba2200: I came back to the game with a brand new account (forgotten my original account from like 10 years ago). I went with the idea of playing a profession from each armor tier. So I'm playing necro and might end up with harbinger as soon as I get that expansion

collectiblesnrandomstuff544: Reaper is the least played profession

5133937: Didn't know Engi is the least played profession, but as an Engineer main I'm glad to hear it :). Power Quick Scrapper is S tier in Fractals and other group content. Easiest party Quickness generator spec in the game, plus party Superspeed, AoE Stealth, and a number of other tools needed for speed running stuff. aHeal Chronomancer Power Quick Scrapper Power Dragonhunter is arguably the strongest core comp for most PvE content.

NotAlinity-t5n: Rev is not the least played. Also context gw2 in its prime didn't even have rev yet so the data is misleading and not correct. Guild Wars 2 (real game) was 5 years with no expansion as it was not suppose to have expansions with the original og devs of the game. 2012-2015 till heart of thorns came out was basically gw2 prime when it was the most populated and popular.

Warrior is the least played class in current era for like 5 years and for a long long time its been in a awful state. If you look at proper data and put the correct parameters in and exclude data pre heart of thorns. Rev is played by everyone in all game modes at a higher frequency than warrior.

njorun1829: I guessed Engi, so you got me there.

Rev main here. I'm surprised it's at the bottom, it's so much fun! I should probably say I'm Herald main, though, because I have only dabbled in Renegade and Vindicator. I was Thief and Necro main before I took a long break from GW2. When I came back, between HoT and PoF, I re-rolled Rev and never looked back.

Fun fact nr 1: The Facet of Nature skill on Herald gives you extra boon duration (when using Glint) that goes above the Concentration cap. Legendary Dragon Facet has perma boon uptime even without it, but because you wanna use the "flipside" of the utility skills and also swap legends back and forth, it still comes in handy.

Fun fact nr 2: The autoattack on hammer is a combo finisher (physical projectile) with a 100% chance to hit. I think it's one of the few (if not the only) weapon(s) in the game that has a 100% chance to combo on the autoattack.

Fun fact nr 3: Staff 5 is one of the best CC skills in the game. It breaks bars for breakfast, and it's incredibly satisfying. Just be careful so you don't surge over any edges (been there, done that!).

kreginzen: Welcome to revenant. Honestly I have tried every profession but it is the one I vibe with the most. I have over 1300 hours on revenant and still just love playing it.

GryffIsHere: I mained a rev for years before taking a break. I play mesmer now but rev still has a place in my heart, thanks for showing it some love!

rackyXCV: I began as a warrior 8 years ago, moved on to mesmer once PoF released and then, 3 years ago moved on to rev, I love it... from the way it plays, the legends lore, everything about it is just peak. absolute cinema.

sevenember3332: I’m a Berserker Warrior main because I love going for the face and because it’s pretty friendly to my needs though I will switch around if I get bored and want something different and a bit more challenging like my off-main Virtuoso Mesmer. The class I’ve played the least is probably thief because it just doesn’t mesh with my play style and I have a hard time keeping it alive. Yes, even more than Ele.

awakenedBanana: I think in the case of veterans, all professions are somewhat equal in play time. And it depends on how good revenant is during the path. At one point, herald was the best pqdps and vindicator was very good in PvP, so people just went crazy with the elite specs. Also, when you look at HTCM and some other encounters, playing revenant can help you a lot, because of special roles. If we consider open world, I don't think that many people are playing it, even though it has very good boon generation, so maybe that is what has a large influence on the overall playtime.

AATproducer: I first played this game in 2014 as a thief main but quickly quit because my guild quit. When I returned to this game in 2021 I wanted a fresh start with a new character. My main decision point was that I wanted a fast, very mobile class which used a sword in his main hand and so I landed on Rev where a power build was and is always viable while using swords and the swords skills together with shiro gave this mobil and fast gameplay feeling. Now i am maining vindicator with Sw/SW - GS weapon set and i am very happy.

SuperCereal92: I recently changed from Thief to Revenant as well. I am enjoying so much
