Raids not worth it in GW2?

Lothkru: Main issue with raids is there's not really many incentives to do them nor a good way for beginners to get into it. Finding a group to do raids is hard when you're a newbie, they need to make raids have a dumb down difficulty (that is not very rewarding) to practice mechanics or something like that, that way people can start looking for raid groups knowing how to do mechs.

Any game that requires you to go to an outside source to know how to do something in-game is just bad game design, plain and simple

seo1995: To be honest i dont think you need more than 10 employees to make a fun raid, if they are clever with the reuse of assets and the mechanics i think if you give them time (but thats another expense) 10 ppl can do a ver VERY decent raid

omegasrevenge: >Anet wants to make a raid that gets more people into raiding

>Releases the hardest raid they have ever made

>Very few people play it

>Anet surprised Pikachu face

kessy628: Worth also looking at how many people have killed Ura in the story and the convergence. Since there's a lot of reuse done for the most time consuming parts of the raid (the base design and the art assets).

That being said, it is hard to justify. I'm half expecting they go back to the strike model for the next xpac, just since it's slightly less work.

H0m0f1rST: I've recently tried to get into raids, and it's just dam near impossible as someone new to the content. Practice runs are extremely rare, and good luck not getting kicked when jumping into an actual group. Like I have an easier time finding and clearing T4 cm fractals.

Hekk.: People will run them more if there is a proper LFG ever put into this game.

Raiding is a hassle first, fun second.

And that's after you manage to get a group going.

Thelastpagangod: I think they fucked up. They had an opportunity to make a piece of content that could entice and initiate new players into raid content. But we got three encounters with high skill and coordination requirements further cementing raids as a gatekept elitist type of content. I say this as an experienced raider who is glad to have gotten another wing, but if you look at it objectively the numbers don't lie, they catered to the minority and failed to reinvigorate raiding content.

joshuaherring9674: Been playing GW2 since beta….. Haven’t even played Story past SoTO.

It was so bad that I didn’t buy JW. Glad I didn’t…. Almost Everything I’ve heard about it has been mostly negative.

The few positive thing I have heard don’t seem to outweighs the negatives

michu1247: Also stop using efficiency as source My guild has 52 people doing raids 1 has efficiency account.

SensualSquirrel: Strikes, Raids, and Fractals not having a dedicated party-finding system makes the ceiling for participating in those activities very high. I have to find a guild, or something like RaidAcademy to even begin to participate. That's a lot for the casual playerbase.

iamnotsurewhoknows: Those numbers might be very optimistic ... senior level it person you would be looking at probably no less than 80k pa salary in central europe (even in gaming). Since Korea probably has left the "Tiger" status behind and should be considered "1st World" country, I doubt salaries would be very much lower. And at "Full Cost" for an on site office worker, 25-50% overhead is quite realistic, once you account for rent, devices, licenses for all the stuff that's required on the Laptop, Support and Maintenance for all the infrastructure etc. up to and including the coffee maker, bathroom cleaning ...

Rocketdog3752: They need to give us better tools to communicate and group up and play the content and giving us more information. The main problem with LFG is you have to go looking, rather than seeing open groups, LFG would be so much better as a filter system, rather than the category for content, show groups for everything and choose to filter for groups.

Also they need to drastically look into replay-ability, at base all content should have 3 tiers Easy (full story mode) Med (story is cut because we don't want dialogue again and again for repeated content) and Hard. Easy should be solo'd or smaller groups, Med standard and Hard the challenge mode.

The main problem with raids is how different the structure is and GW2 is terrible at communicating new mechanics and what's going on. A small little box above your skills or a little box beneath the bosses health bar, that maybe even disappears. It's just convoluted trying to learn what's happening cause the U.X is trash.

All these things are what contributes to me avoiding raids personally.

TohnR: Honestly I'm a GW2 veteran I played 10 years (not daily) completing all of story, fractals till 90th, all strikes and some CM strikes, actually did like maybe 10 "easy" raid bosses with a training group.

But all of that is not enough to even get into a group to just try the bosses, how can newer players even get into it? Raids are just inaccessible to people who play casually. At least fractals have tiers, so you can climb your way up

kklouddn9ne: That's why it takes passion and talent to make raids

Buran01: I do look raids the othwer way around. how much effort they cost compared to the rewards.

I've only played 3 raids and stopped after the WvW clan in which I was faded away after the PoF expansion. I have other activities which provide better rewards with less effort and don't have to deal with the raid mechanics, time limits and annoying interaction with others...

prashantgaikwad9808: I mean ... How long have gw2 raids existed? 8-9 years .. and the core problem of newbies entering still persists to this day .. that is by design ..

MrTimdeK: Yeah but these people are generally big fans of the game and spend more gems through cash on shit

nitramx1470: Everyone in comments talking about getting into raids, you gotta use outside resources to learn some basics. Watch a video, read a guide on snowcrows, hardstuck etc. The reason training runs are relatively rare in the lfg is because they require an experienced commander - who would be better off running with their experienced static - for profit, time saving etc. and having to explain mechanics before every encounter takes time, especially since plenty of people will still end up auto-piloting and leeching. If people treated raids as a proper endgame challenge and prepared accordingly in advance I reckon there would be more people willing to take on training, because while there are few groups in the lfg, once a group is there it fills up pretty damn quick. Unfortunately, as it stands, you can have 7 ppl who diligently prepared and 3 clueless who sink the whole squad and waste everyones time. If you ask me that’s pretty selfish.

ReyAudentio: ANET really needs to make raids worth it. Once I got my legendary ring from raids, I had little reason to go back in. I may do them again in the future for the armor but that would be it

FrycoN: RAIDs was only way to get legendary armor when they first get into GW2. Now you can get that in any other mode. Why would you even wonna do raids now?

LadyWolverine9: Even at 1.25 million, that's pitiful! If they're trying to compete with the likes of WoW, well, not even apples to oranges there. WoW made raiding accessible to everyone without having to coordinate outside of the game with scheduling etc.

I tried to find some numbers on WoW raid bosses, but that likely requires way more research. Since 2004, though, that game has made them over $12 billion, and that's with raiding being a core part of the endgame.

I don't want GW2 to be WoW, but raids are just too difficult for 95% of players to even start, let alone complete. Strikes and DRMs are waaaaaaaaaaaay better!

michu1247: I wasn't even trying to do this raid because most of my guild doesn't even have expansion and is going through early expansions still.

But its a goal for later its long term thing that is there for me and keeps me playing the game.

Erase it and I will quit the game even if I never even tried to do it.

battlebots1: Raids improve the game even for those who dont play them.
