Opus_Fluke: Best tip ever for a noob: NEVER boost yopur first! You'll get lost with all the Trait Lines, Signets and everything else (lot of players boost and bounce). BUT from Level 2 the sword and shield icon top left of your screen takes you to the PvP Lobby- you don't have to fight but you become Level 80 (max level) and play around with all the skills. Just tap again and choose leave to warp back to where you were back at the level you were. Free trial of a Profession with no hassle. Also that Lobby has Bank access, merchants etc and fast travel to Lions Arch (the old hub). Have fun and welcome to Tyria!

thomastgnome6526: Good to hear a new player stating the "Not going to use my Auto 80, because if I do I won't know what I'm doing." It's something that I always advise, and recently had someone on Facebook reply to such with "Not all of us have time to grind a character to 80."

SlashingMike: Dude, I can relate to this video so much! I'm 36 years old and just missed the feeling of a good MMO and jumped into this about 3 months ago. It's been amazing! My personal tips (feel free to play your way however), any class can play any way, so don't get to lost on what class you should start out as. I started out as thief cause I wanted that dual wield play style. I ended up playing as Guardian cause it's willbender spec fit that more to my liking. For the first time through, play the story through in order, unlock things in their order and you'll really experience the game as it was for everyone when it was new. It's been a great ride so far and I'm only though the 2nd expansion. Hope you enjoy this game as well! Feel free to add me as a friend in game :)

Sometimes I'm away from it for long periods of time, and unlike other games, theres no degradation of gear efficiency etc. I can start back in after a year, and my character is still viable

tonyr9487: If youre not stuck on guardian, you can make a new character, level it to 80 with the instant 80 item thing i think you get with expansions and test level 80 in the silverwastes and when you decide to leave the map it asks you if you want to keep the xharacter level 80 or not so you can try it on all the classes to see if you get an instant click with one of them, ove recently returned and just getting into the swing of things

zechariahbaker5246: I have been playing in the land of Tyria since 2005 with the first Guild Wars. Have played Guild Wars 2 since launch 13 years ago now. It never gets old, and I love just hopping in and helping people such as yourself. I main as a Norn Female Ranger but I have all the classes and all the races. Check out Sylvari and Charr when you have a chance. Both are quite unique in terms of MMO races.

Tindra-111: There is about 8000 armor and weapons in the game that is not in the gemstore that you can use as wardrobe as soon as you earned them. So make sure to always unlock something you know you might want to use later on as wardrobe.

jgkitarel: Love it when someone gets down the rabbit hole that is Guild Wars 2. The mounts are done better than other games due to the fact that they are dependent on things like personal endurance, momentum is real, and when idle, they don't just stand there.

jgkitarel: On the levels, if they have an icon beside their "level", it isn't their actual level. That level is 80, which is the max level. What you're seeing is their mastery level, meaning they did mastery tracks in the core game or expansions to unlock additional things. Mastery tracks can only be done once you hit max level, but they add in things for the endgame you can do. They came about with the first expansion, Heart of Thorns, and were added to in each expansion. They give you plenty of things to aim for from the core game through the expansions.

jenfine: Vet here who has played off and on since launch. There’s no such thing as a tanky class. Each profession can be geared and stat’ed to whatever you want or need. You can tank on light armor classes too. You can heal on heavy armor classes. It’s all in the build and armor/weapon stats you pick. It’s wonderfully flexible. And healers duel serve as tanks and agro is based on toughness in instance content.

Also we had to do map completion back in the day without mounts. Took forever. Mounts were definitely the best add to the game.
