MightyTeapot: Phase 2
Savoritas: Whatever game they are working on.. Im betting money on it not being Guildwars 3.
FortunaeMaxima: What bogs me is that nobody in the official forum is talking about all this stuff.
ryanrodely9461: Darens bro, I want to thank you for actually speaking out on how terrible these recent patches have been, as a vet myself my biggest gripe with this community is how everyone is so clueless and allergic to criticizing GW2 (on forums and even content creators) it's refreshing to hear a veterans perspective on how you actually feel and putting anet on blast
nb4115: The worst possible scenario is that there is no GW3. My guess is that Anet is working on some new games but it is not GW3, and that's why they are hesitant to tell the truth to GW2 players.
ZKuran: Guild Wars 3 worries me; if they are going through with it, I feel kind of bad spending so much time and money in Guild Wars 2. If there are incentives that cross over, it will sound appealing, like in Guild Wars to Guild Wars 2. But I hope Arenanet knows and remembers: Guild Wars is a stable and good franchise, this time and age MMOs, and good ones are a rarity. Blizzard and Square all see this, and they show their effort to refine their MMO's, not make new ones. Refine Guild Wars 2, or somehow expand Guild Wars 2 into 3 without minimal loss of 2. Don't risk the franchise on a huge gamble when the market is already very niche.
Thank you for reading my Ted Talk.
segmanYT: Stop buying new expansions. Stop buying gems. Otherwise, complaining is useless. Anet knows exactly what they are doing. Gw2 is waiting room for next game. Every penny you spend on the game in its current state is voting for getting worse content.
panthrax555: I can't justify purchasing anything in this game any more, most definitely not the next "expansion".
fatmanpez: Honestly it's just how this last chapter wrapped up, a cutscene, not even an hd cutscene following of the final boss fight in Janthir and a recycled battle like the Titan Battles in the first two chapters that actually left like a challenge with a final cutscene talking to Mabon would have ended this expansion is what would have at least made most of us not feel like " that was it?". I just did the Meta Center lane going for the Heart in the new map and honestly THAT battle was sick and engaging, that is what I wanted in the final Story Instance.
miskov1213: The fact that the wheels are gone but the engine works doesn't change the fact that the car ain't running.
XTAKU.: I think the biggest issue is they pitched these annual expansions as something that would allow them to make shorter, complete stories while supporting their various game modes with new content which to be fair they have done somewhat. The problem lies in the overall quality of the expansions and the progression of the story beats. In recent years they have forced players to do events in order to progress the story to artificially increase the time they spend on the maps and doing the story content. This shows that they are well aware that they are not putting out substantial content to keep players engaged during their quarterly releases. The actual story itself has taken a major dip in quality as well. Certain characters haven’t received voice acting which I’m assuming is due to a voice actor strike or something which technically isn’t ArenaNet’s fault but they should have used other voice acting temporarily or just cut those characters from the scene in my opinion. The overall flow of events in the story seems kind of lackluster. There aren’t many big reveals and the story in Janthir Wilds mostly covered ground already covered in the original Guild Wars. We already knew that the titans came from the foundry of failed creations in the domain of anguish, they could have gone more in depth by revealing who created the titans or what their motivations for invading Tyria were. None of these questions of interest are really answered. The Mursaat being from Nayos was an interesting revelation but it doesn’t go anywhere. We don’t seethe wayfinder question the Kryptis about it or find out anything more about their history beyond that reveal which is kind of disappointing. Overall the Janthir Wilds expac felt better in quality than Secrets of the Obscure but that bar was already in hell.
skulpturostone4621: Last map isn't that big. And the worst part is, that it's not designed to be interesting enough.
I started playing about six months ago or so. Completed base game. It was really good. Excluding last story fight. But maps, quests, events, it was SOOO good. And then I got into LW 1, 2. And ofc, you know it's coming, I got into the Jungles. Insane verticality of Verdant Brink, huge architecture of Auric Basin, Tangled Depth maze, and ocf a true battle of Dragon Dtand. My mind was blown away each time I entered a new map. Right now I'm finishing IBSaga. Each map in every expansion was designed. Thought through. But I've never been to Cantha yet. Almost finished SotO. And even 3d map in Jantir was better, then the 4th. It feels wrong. There is no magic of attraction, don't know even how to say it. Verticality is shallow, that's for sure there. No insensitive to climb somewhere outside of some mastery points. For example, in Verdant Brink there was another different world literally .
krajtin: Right the future is in the next expansion but i will not to do
logdog4848: Every single time someone brings this up (discrepancy between content quality from past LWS3/4 and now) people go on talking about how it required developer 'crunch'. 'Crunch' is a buzz word that companies like Anet use to justify giving less content for more money over a longer timespan. The team has been confirmed to be at the very least the same size as it was during LWS4 due to the growth EOD gave. There is no 'crunch' besides the impact Anet has self-inflicted by siphoning workers off to GW3. Is this to say developers weren't overworked during LWS3/4? No, absolutely not. They pumped out a lot of content over a short time for free. But these are paid expansions. Just raise the price if you need to justify adding more developers on. The common sentiment is that these expansions are GOOD for the price (~2$ per month) but not good enough to get excited for.
heykimandtyler9950: I'm done with it 5 years playing and I unistalled it last night I'm out it's dog shit now
geromewypukol: I actually was really happy with Janthir. I really loved the scenery and how the DLC was so much connected to GW1 story wise. Big thumbs up from the GW1 enjoyers
TheGreenDeath8914: one thing you didn't point out is that in the past before the new model ANet went through so many internal problems and shifts, etc. they claimed to solve this or have solved it post EoD or later, either SotO or Janthir. That either seems to not be the case, or it hasn't held them back much* before LW S4.
*(as much as we believed or they made us believe)
713Lord: if they say "the future is in the next game" people will jump ship completly derailing their entire operation. They will not cut into their own flesh like that.
lauraceae1809: In my opinion all they need to do is get those LWS4 writers back and give them full autonomy to create good story content and cool maps mechanics like Dragonfall you need to get a lot of people moving in the whole map to get it done, it is an amazing map that is very much active even today because is a fun map to do!!
justBiYao: What Arenanet underestimates is that people love them for Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 not for being an exceptional game dev studio that could make any great game like Blizzard in their peak era. The rug has been pulled now and I am not spending a single cent to finance whatever they are cooking, when I want them to stay focused on their main product. Sucks to be them right now!
mismismism: The problem is, they're charging people for something and then they can't even be bothered to do the bare minimum. It's absolutely insane for these tiny patches to come out buggy too, like you see modders make more impressive things for free as a hobby. There's a point of quality that needs to be met if they're going to keep selling expansions IMO.
Because frankly, I cannot imagine anyone outside of the most diehard fans, that would play SotO or Janthir, that would care or be excited for GW3.
Liisjak: Whatever they're working on is killing 2 games instead of just 1.
nd6886: I'm surprised NCSoft has let this charade go on for this long. They would be way better off selling Anet and their only IP at a loss.
rept7: Hopefully, this next project is any good. I'm hoping it's improved GW2, but with further improved combat so we can get away from stacking, rotations, and DPS optimization and just do more of what makes the combat feel great solo.
If it makes nobody happy, oh no, ANet will be in danger.
triple1: If they announce Gw3 right now, it will absolutely kill gw2... and since there is a good chance there are a few more years left to finish Gw3, it won't be good financially...
uniquename111: You know when you where a teenager and did stupid shit that was so dumb that even you as a teenager knew it. Then your mum said we need to talk, and then the dreaded words came out: I am so disappointed at you. That is the worst thing a mum can say to their kids young or adult, because they know they screwed up because there is nothing they can say back because they know she is right, they did something very stupid and their mum have the right to be disappointed with them. So from a 56 year old mum with adult kids who have heard those words a few times my response is: Arena Net i am so disappointed at you.
