I had no idea what a Laurel is, what experimental envoy armor is, or the Secrets of the Obscure legendary armors. No clue what a magnetite shard is. Would be cool to have these explained in the video tailored to new people too.

larrs8887: I recently ground out Soto legendary obsidian armour along with the tier 2 skin, managed a full set in about 2 months earning piece every 7-10 days but the grind killed me. 6 convergences a week, weekly rift trains, daily fractals for gold and Soto metas….need a break now and barely touched the game in the past few weeks but I’m sure I’ll get back in to it soon.

Beriorn: Something to keep in mind is that Ascended Power gear is cheaper and easier to get than Condition gear. Aside from buying it you also have the option to make your own gear: Barbarian and the the tougher but lower damage Marauder gear is made with a few Laurels and Gold from Laurel merchants. They also sell the accessories of those two stat lines. For Condition gear you'll end up using either Viper for damage across both types or Trailblazer for more survivability, but to get those recipes you will need to do the second and third maps respectively in the Heart of Thorns expansion: first to get the recipes for the Exotic gear, followed by the recipes for the Ascended gear. Do note that they do not sell recipes for Ascended Condition trinkets (those recipes do not exist, but they do sell recipes to make parts for Exotic trinkets), nor do the Laurel merchants, so you'll have to source those from someplace else.

As for Celestial gear: you can get that the same way as you get Power gear, but the big issue is their cost: for Exotic gear you will need two Charged Quartz Crystals each, which are daily locked and untradable, and for Ascended gear you'll need Globs of Dark Matter, which are made by salvaging Exotic gear, which costs a pinch of gold. There is one trick if you're willing to use it to get cheap Exotic Celestial gear: the level 80 boost gives you a full set, but this set is special in that you can't do anything with it aside from wearing or destroying it, and any Runes or Sigils placed into it will be locked in permanently and cannot be recovered.

JosephSaintClair: Agree, Raids are the easiest way to earn ascended gear, now that you also get magnetite shards for the quick play queue (easy mode lfg queue).

iridradiant: For fresh 80s looking to get cheap exotics, it's hard to beat what's called "temple armor". The different temples in Orr offer exotic armor for karma (252,000 for a full set) once they're cleared of the undead. The stats offered aren't the best, except for Grenth's Temple which offers Berserker gear. But, Cleric's (Dwayna's) and Magi's (Melandru's) are ok for starting out with a healing focused build, and Rabid (Lyssa's) for a condition damage build. The other way to find cheap exotics is to use the search function for the trading post to look for the stat(s) you want, rather than looking up a specific name. Particularly with weapons, there's plenty of one-off gear pieces with the stat combination that have a unique name (and sometimes a unique skin as well). The main thing to be careful of while doing that is different stat combinations with different values for the same stats, like a search for power, precision, and ferocity will show both Berserker's and Assassin's gear.

oogunn9459: Legendary armour, trinkets and weapons should have a significant stat boost. This is lazy development on anets part. The things needed to acquire them are ridiculous… I know this is how they create content…. But least in FF you get the reward for the grind with stat boost. I started RAID because although this is a ‘guild’ focused game I enjoy playing solo. Lucky I am very good at competitive play I.E pvp. So i got the armor from this easy. WvW is very long and RAID is harder because you have too many divas in there who will kick you for making 1 mistake when you are learning. I like the ‘effects’, RAID armor and pvp and WvW body piece are the best. Obsidian armour is ugly. I am grinding my Coal trinket atm only need gold and Li and I have my second light piece from RAID. I have full set from pvp heavy! Full medium from RAID.
