manmataya: Music guilds shivering and twitching in anticipation
nikhosinthemachine: Necromance if you want to
We can bring your friends to life
But your friends aren't dead and if they're not dead
Well, they're no friends of mine
emewyn: Back before GW2 was first released and they were revealing the professions, the last one shown was mesmer. The video initially shows a bard with a lute and says "Minstrel", but that breaks apart into butterflies to reveal "Mesmer' instead. It was a funny way to show the mesmer's illusion theming. Is "Minstrel" finally real now???
jurare89: imagine this (under the assumption it´s accessible to every profession):
- warrior: heavy-metal bard (smacks the enemies with an ukulele)
- guardian: orchestral bard (makes music infused with light to support people)
- revenant: medieval bard (channels an ancient musician for moral support)
- ranger: symphonic bard (makes nature-themed ambient sound that controls nature)
- engineer: industrial bard (turns up the techno-music so loud that your eardrums burst)
- thief: streetmusician bard (distracts you with street-performance to steal your coinbag)
- elementalist: indecisive bard (can´t decide which music they like, so they cycle 4 genres continously)
- mesmer: deceptive bard (tricks you into thinking they do classical music, then hit you with the most insane deathcore-drop you can imagine)
- necromancer: death-metal bard (screams their lyrics loud enough that even the dead start a moshpit)
manmataya: Not bards, we gettin lore on the frog from Verdant Brink.
About time we got some important and relevant lore ngl
roblaing1418: The next expansion will be the Metal Legion, singing a forbidden song and summoning an Eldritch horror from the mists, then joining the Commander on an epic musical road trip.
arkanaloth2617: my guess:
new elite specs... this is the first.. they'll show us more later with similar teaser images.
Ranger new elite - Bard.
that's my guess. Now I could easily be wrong and I have zero idea how it could possibly work given how GW2 in general works... but.. here we are.
ajneuschwander: It'll be interesting to see if we start seeing more of these dropping over the next two weeks, implying a new set of elite specs. They've mentioned that they want to do more, and just have them without new weapons
ihappy1: My most level headed expectation: an update to the instrument and maybe music systems in the game.
A lofty expectation: next expansion will have new elite specs, and bard (or maybe minstrel) is the first one being revealed (for Mesmer likely).
Even loftier thought: every elite specs will get a music or sound based elite spec. While kinda crazy the end of JW sorta introduced a Mesmer collective that Kasmeer is a part of, and sound/music/performance fits in with Mesmers as a school of magic. So if they take center stage in the next expansion maybe we learn new techniques from the Mesmer collective (or whatever they're called).
Even less likely than that (imo): a whole new class
Opus_Fluke: My Necro kinsfolk dreaming of bringing Metal Legion back together.
TukSet: Imagen being in a fractal and our bard class just start playing, Staying Alive.
maakonis11: Elementalists 5th attunement
Bruno_the_bear: I mean Skalds are mentioned in Norn lore and territories. Is usually what I think of when playing any 'Shout Warrior' build.
raarsi-dar: I feel like the most curious part of that is the color combo they used for the icon. Could just be the color scheme for the next expansion, but could be something more.
tavish1658: I always thought it would be interesting if they added class-less specializations that augment mundane things that every profession can accomplish in one way or another. That means such specializations could be unlocked via the mastery system and become available to all professions.
bosunbones.8815: Many months ago I made a suggestion on a community poll. I think it was Connor concarne.
I suggested a new profession, that used instruments like engineer kits.
Halak014: An Apocalyptic thought is that Everyone gets the ''Bard'' trait-line and it is, now for the big thing, the Rework of the boon System... you have to select the ''Bard'' to be able to give boons...
anirutheblessed: The minstrel in Lion's Arch finally found a job
ShiniestSkritt: If the next teaser is a completely different instrument, that'd be interesting. Maybe each profession gets a different instrument - percussion instruments for heavies, string instruments for mediums, and wind instruments for lights.
Mystic___: What's interesting to me is the mixed colour background. Could the bard be a combo between two existing classes, in this instance mesmer (purple) and thief/ele (orange)? This would align with the profession system in GW1.
EthanSchmethan: Necromancer Bards but they're only allowed to perform Bring Me to Life by Evanescence
tombocai: The color of the background isn't clearly indicating a class as they normally do, that is mysterious...
_Libosido: Nice! New weapon type - "guitar"!!!
NymphiusE: Mesmer Bard Mesmer Bard Mesmer Bard Mesmer Bard Mesmer Bard Mesmer Bard Mesmer Bard
PCLRN: Note the dual color scheme of the hexagon and frame. This screams multi-class. Two scenarios are possible. The most likely scenario is a common specialization that can be used by mesmer an orangish class (elementalist or maybe engineers). Or it could be a new profession that can mix some specialization and weapons from two different classes. Also, Bard is more likely to be called MINSTREL.
Levitexx: Could be an elite spec as elite specs usually are represented by hexagons
goki8838: New profession: Minstrel!
but it's more likely just a new spec
