I Tried Wow Burning Crusade As a Guild Wars 2 Player.... Heres What Happened

IanAlexJones: You and Strife.

Get out of the pocket of Blizzard

snig01: Great video! I played wow years back and moved over to gw2, don't think I could ever go back now. Watching the combat again feels slow and not as involved.

dryziger: i quit wow in shadowlands fot the last time, this company will never get another euro from me

KevinG9012: I played a ton of classic wow and swapped to GW2 right before TBC Anni. I love classic and it’s a great alternative to playing GW2. Different enough to complement it well as another game to play. However, I loathe classic wow’s endgame loop. I hate the minuscule random drop chances on some items. TBC is very fun though, just not for me this time around. Classic leveling is a great time but endgame raiding can be pretty boring depending on class. The Anniversary servers are also nothing but gold buying. Around 90% of raiders are buying gold through 3rd party gold sellers and risking getting banned just to skip the grind and focus on raiding. Glad you’re having fun but

pez6905: Get questie and restedxp addons for easy questing. Join a guild and join /world and /lookingforgroup for active chat, get to 58 for outlands to see thousands of people.

dasdingo10: Questie and leatrix maps

Radditz-xf2ks: I remember when i played wow back then, that i really did not like the fact that u need tonsit down and refresh ur mana after every trash mob, and the slow paste traveling and even the "taxi" needed up to 10 or 15 minutes for long distances ... never looked back to wow :D

But still, glad that u and others can find fun in it :)

jonrexjr: Maybe you can do a video about retail wow, I liked your analysis of tbc! I'm enjoying retail as I'm playing through the new midnight expansion.

Marthisdil: vertical vs horizontal progression still. wow endgame comes down to gear and skill...whereas, for the most part, gw2 is about skill (since gear pretty much ends up pretty much the same).

old school wow pvp in battlegrounds used to be fun. nowadays not so much. arenas are fun in wow if you like small group pvp - i've not tried pvp in gw2 (but i enjoy wvwvw), so i can't directly compare.

raids in wow, esp at mythic level, comes down to gear check dps check skill...gw2 raids don't seem as hard, but i've not tried the updated raid stuff really.

lencombs67: I have tried WoW a few times over the last 20 years but just don't like the goofy cartoon art style, I wish Blizzard had a MMO like that with a DIablo art style.

Hurtlocker151: Gw2 gives you zero direction for any level of questing.... wow is far superior in that aspect.

tehlewlz: gw2 is garbage and i honestly dont understand how it can retain so many players, theres nothing to do ingame, youre BiS in less than 2 months, unlocked all skills and elite specs, PvP is trash. PvE is avoid the circle, theres nothing u can do to get stronger.

Stady999: the combat in WOw is sooo...

slow

Trazynn: The Draenei starting zone always felt a bit tacked on while the Blood Elf zone clearly felt like something that Blizzard had been aching to do for years.

Opus_Fluke: Remember, kids: GW2 Core is really the tutorial for the rest of the game. And I did enough stand-still-to-cast back when I used to play "Anarchy Online" (Neutral Fr00bs Rise!). Most important thing is: you're having fun.

jgkitarel: I started WoW back when it launched in 2004, but didn't really get into it until BC. Military duties and other responsibilities tended to cut down on my play time, but the Classic Era (Vanilla WoW to WotLK) was a change from previous MMOs at that time. Seriously, people don't understand that WoW was a lot more newbie friendly than most MMOs of the time. At the same time, I got into Guild Wars 2 back when it launched, played it a lot, took a break, came back for Heart of Thorns, rinse and repeat until I simply decided to remain with Guild Wars 2. There are other games I've played around with (and intend to go back to, PSO2 is a solid MMO that has been around as long as GW2, even if its current incarnation with New Genesis is much weaker than the original Base PSO2, which is still playable as Base and New Genesis are both on the same server BTW). But GW2 is one of those games where, if you find something else, something that interests you, you can go there and leave GW2 for awhile and then come back without losing anything from it.

As for the leveling experience, it's been easy since HoT, though the story progression was trimmed down to what it's like in Core GW2 back in 2013. But the classic era of WoW is one that I still have fond memories of. Yeah, the grind was real in ways that GW2 doesn't really do, with RNG being a major factor on what you got and whether or not it would be usable for you, leveling took a lot longer because combat was slower paced and mounts were very much an investment that had to be done each and every time on a character. You had to earn the right to have one. At the same time, I like the sheer variety of mount types GW2 brings and how it pays attention to a lot of little details you don't see in WoW. And for all the customizability in WoW when it comes to traits, each trait line had only one viable setup in the end when you reached endgame, while GW2 had any combination you did be valid, if less effective than anything meta. But meta was pretty much limited to far less. At the same time, how WoW did traits did mean you had to think long and hard, not to mention plan, how you wanted to play and be ready to be stuck with it. GW2 encourages build crafting and experimenting to find what fits you best. WoW doesn't, never did.

ghostapi874: At a certain point experiencing value is inversely proportional to the level of convenience.

sidyaking: The thing is - levelling in wow classic was always amazing. But the problem is both the developers and the community for some reason decided to hate it and rush to the end game. And at end game you get the toxicity, the meta mentality and so on

ItsACinche: Addons sir! Addons save your questing life! Can’t help you with the cardio though…

A-Mih: Well, good video, only he forgot to mention that all player go initially to lvl 80 zones and start play latest expansion, and if you want to lvl low zones with old expansions you will be completely alone on lot of maps. And let’s not forget that WoW is a subscription. If you pay for month but suddenly you can’t play you throw money away. WoW ones was the best, now it more like pay more money and you can enter to mythic dungeon one extra time. Lose season and it like endless chasing for gear. My opinion if you value your time, stay GW2

iridradiant: As much as Blizz has gone downhill over the last several years (at minimum) and how bad some of the later expansions got, I still recommend players who have never played MMOs before to run the free trial for WoW, although considering some of the recent videos I've seen for retail means I may need to amend that to Classic WoW. Blizz used to know how to on-board computer players into being MMO players; it is one thing I'd love Anet to eventually get around to amending again in GW2 is the tutorial section. And, it is very apparent that you only got to low levels, because that talent tree "freedom" evaporates when you get to raiding at end game. They got rid of it in an attempt to give players back agency over the meta police mandating cookie cutter builds.

jun_sheng: In terms of time and money spent, GW2 has no sub and has fsster progression and pace. While WoW, you are actually paying for game time yet it takes longer grinds. Really comes down to how you want to spend for your game time.

Barkebain: Feels like that old school WoW experience where you can give Blizzard $20, and get 60-70 thousand gold in return. Don't even look at the AH for purchases because the economy is blown up. Imagine how bad end game will be with nothing but GDKP, and every item going for 40k gold (only gold buyers need apply). No thanks - if I want a TBC experience, I'll go to the only place that still offers it - private servers.

vgpowerlord: Most of the things you complained about in WoW were fixed by Cataclysm, let alone current retail.

niotek: every so often i give WoW a try and it lasts all of 10mins each time. i mean i can see how WoW took over the world early on but c'mon now? nah.

jessett7827: I dont like the cartoonish graphics of WoW
