I Tried QUICK GALESHOT in Guild Wars 2 Thoughts

smackfanxion: I tried running bows but no, it's not there.

You can absolutely run melee weapons, especially with the quick build. Treating the bow as a primary weapon with the melee weapons treated as utility/gap fillers when needed. (GS/Sw Ax, for me)

This got me SOME of the highest dps I've seen on ranger in 5yrs almost 3K/hrs on ranger alone. I'm sure it's not 'meta' or w/e but it works great. Unless they changed everything on it's head in the last week or so(I've been demoing other classes more) the booooble just didn't actually add much to my rotation and was a catastrophic dps loss if I in any way whiffed the burst window.

I really do agree that it kinda sucks that we got more bow without really even getting good bow but the class grew on me a lot. Like a tumor. I drew a smiley face on it and had my fun.

Jmvars: I did try this but I skip cyclone bow 3 because forced movement is unacceptable. I will gladly trade the damage to stay in place. I like the archer roleplay but I agree they could have focused more on making the longbow good rather than create a completely new bow. The longbow is around literally only to rapid fire projectiles through the shiny new skill.

I am trying to cook up a longbow shortbow hybrid build just so I can do three bows. For fun.

TrevorFullbright: I'm a huge fan of galeshot. It's one of my favorites from VoE and honestly my favorite range spec now. ONly thing I dislike is GB 3. The forced movement is annoying

summonerize: I have been trying to play Galeshot for a few hours since the VoE was released, and I have never picked this class again, although I was really excited about Galeshot after ANet announced this elite spec, it turned out that it is just not my cup of tea. It runs bad in the open world, even longbow soulbeast feels better imho due to boon stacking and high mobility with merge pets movement skills, it has almost zero survivability against tough targets, force movement with skill 3, and force stuck with skill 5, big dps losses if you have been knocked before you release the Hawkeye.. all of it just feels bad and uncombortable.

RobbinnDaHood: Flanking gets you to 100% crit chance because of the skirmishing minor traits

CrowleyLewart: "they said they didn't really like ARCHERY on the RANGER" Okay, whoever said that needs to be fired from whatever team they work on. Next they're going to tell us ELEMENTALIST shouldn't be using magic. No wonder RANGER has been shafted for years regarding its RANGED capabilities...

ShawnTheSpoofMan: Mistral is a lousy buff and a waste a skill slot my opinion

Glantern7883: Oh God when you said troll I instantly knew what was coming I was alac otter healing my strike lead was rocking gale shot and dropped it I did not see the ground aoe and instantly died

Cross_111: "...and i will FIGHT you there" at the end, felt a bit personal there Muk

PlusTenVictory: I understand why they gave it quickness. Fast archer shoots fast. I just want them to give alacrity to Soulbeast. Share stances share alacrity / merged skills share alacrity, something like that.

MD-ee2fq: I enjoy playing quick Galeshot a lot even thought i dont like bows at all. The reason why the build is fun is mostly because of the reset mechanic of your gale 4 and 5 reseting your 2, which makes weaving them really fun and fast to play.

Mistral is my greatest critique point of this spec. I thought when it came out that i would be able to use melee weapons plus the galebow, but im loosing so much dps if i dont utilite the additional projectile damage of mistral so that i dont wanna swap longbow and main axe. Using a mace offhand is okay in t4 fractals for some personal defenses, because oh boy you are so squishy compared to untamed or even soulbeast.

The thing about hawkeye getting interrupted is yeah it feels horrible if that happens. Its a "good" thing in pvp/wvw because of counterplay, since it does a lot of damage. When it hits its very satisfying either in pve and pvp.

All together is a great and fun build but a bit of a learning curve, that feels satisfying to play

lunarezlycablood1838: Qdps and pure dps don't really play exactly the same because galebow 2 doesn't reset cd when using galebow 4 and 5 when using dps trait. but it is not really that much different. you just have to use 3 instead of another 2.

KalTaron: I really wish they d stop with the white numbers on blue and white icons. Horribly hard to see.

How is the self-healing? Maybe this could be an alternative for Pylon Kite on Q2 or Hand Kite on Deimos?

Sounds to me like making the Mistral a ring instead of a bubble, wall or circle would make sense.

Rhumolein: I played Galehot for a while now and I totally agree with your thoughts. Why do I get a new longbow when I already have a longbow?

MurtorSH: Untamed literally saved the game for me. Just like you said, Mukluk: It's freaking good. It's the strongest and friendliest open world build (in my opinion) you can possibly play for all the reasons you mentioned. Galeshot is like: "I have range and nothing else." I, as a Untamed nerd, tested Quickshot for like 5 minutes and figured out that this is not my cup of tea. Not even in the slightest. The ONLY reason why I would play this over Untamed is for the Decima (ranged team) or Deimos on ranged (which no one does). And yes: It kills me that Ranger still does not have an Alac DPS build. Why, ArenaNet, why? The elegant bow (Galeshot) as a counterpart to the brutal hammer (Untamed) would be the perfect fit for Alac.

KHfanz: So for me as a fellow ranger main, Galeshot is one of the most fun specs IN PVP, you get to run as basically full glass and just nuke people from far away, and with all the mobility you have access to it makes it easy to kite/rotate/roam etc. However, in instanced PvE i'm not a fan, the rotation feels very "forced" due to how much damage is in mistral. You have to basically shuffle through 3 weapons just throwing out as many projectiles as possible for damage or you do way less. It just makes the whole thing feel "off" to me, whereas Soulbeast and Untamed (and condi druid) have much more fluid rotations imo.

I think i'd honestly prefer Galeshot MORE if it worked like Bladesworn where it completely replaced your second weapon set instead of just stapling on a 3rd weapon set without letting you use one of your original 2 for utility (IE using Hammer for a bunch of melee CC or GS for mobility etc).

Wyrdnairon: VOE's elites feel like the team rotated off their preferred classes, everyone who's a fan doesn't play that class and everyone who plays that class is not a fan. Where Deadeye didn't just slap a sniper kit on Thief and call it a day, but instead gave Marking to enable spotter or headhunting builds, Galeshot demonstrates a complete disinterest in Ranger mechanics at a deeper level. Galeshot's pithy 450 radius quickness means even if you can "attack fully at range, like Virtuoso", you're still forced to move back to stack, and if your timing's off, your DPS drops like a stone bc you didn't keep up your Hawkeye spam, or your team quickness evaporates because you used the Hawkeye away from the group. Despite the "birds" theme, Flock Together doesn't bump avian DPS up above justification level over other more powerful and consistent pets, and Mistral inflicting several chill applications serves no purpose on a Ranger kit. I bet dollars to doughnuts none of the people who are excited to play longbow now that we have a "true archer class" tested longbow during the two months longbow 1 and 2 got a 20% and 60%dmg/CD buff before Galeshot came out, and none of them have given the slightest notice that shortbow is ignored entirely.

digitalshoes5520: I just want a blishhud addon that plays a vine thud sound effect when the empowered auto becomes available

wild_shaman: My ranger doing bonk.

Marxone: Galeshot is very good at shooting into reflect in wvw.

stonegrimmsblood3201: There is actually a skill on guardian pistol that works like Mistral, Symbol of Ignition. It looks like a regular guardian symbol so the visuals aren't too bad

Talmead: Count on Anet to fix bows by giving us another bow

manuelmusetti5026: I think it's gonna become super popular because it's very easy to learn and use effectively. This might even skew the balance even more in favor of qdps and aheal

void2258: Reffect has a really good addon to track the hawkeye buff counter much more easily. Anet needs to redo the buff bar. It's just impossible to track anything there with so much and random order.

ouroboros02: mistrel should be a big wind arrow stuck in the enemy rather than a bubble.

206Zelda: But does it feel better than Antiquary?

Because I'm still reeling over THAT design choice
