HUGE GW2 NEWS! The Future of Guild Wars 2, Paragon and Ritualist, And More!

johnwalsh1774: I'm actually really good with a 6 month break in expanding the game. It will allow some of us who have lives outside the game to catch up and finish in game projects like alts and legendaries.

Unserioussam328: its hard to find my favorite slop when I have to go only by thumbnail since I can't read. thankfully mightyteapot is kind enough to post his beautiful unshaven face on his videos making it nice and easy for me. thank you mr pot for always caring for your viewers.

johnboog4437: Gw3 won’t be better than gw2. Just because gw2 is great with good game philosophy, doesn’t mean a brand new guild wars is going to have that. It’s not like the same people who make gw2 are still here making gw3. Our gaming competency has went down the drain in the past 10years. More than likely gw3 will fall flat just like every other mmo.

ElderNewt: Necromancer squirrel confirmed... Cannot wait

WildSoul10: I am looking forward to Ritualist, seeing the Spirits in EOD gave me hope and it looks like they might finally deliver.

ShadowKallig: Only half-way through, but re-organizing and re-vitalizing old systems doesn't mean being in the endgame.

Especially in terms of a business perspective, this is not what games do before they die off.

What a lot of this reads to me, personally, is that they want to modernizing and bring a lot of systems and features up to speed first, that have been in the game for a while. Focus on those, before they start pushing majorly huge expansions out. ESO is doing the same, Warcraft, quite literally, doing the same. STO, having done the same. I could continue to name more - but the idea is to update current systems, instead of continuing to stack on top of old and keep homogenizing the experience for players. The game has so much bloat, that they need to address it before bringing in new and bigger things.

Taking what you have, making it better, plus this builds confidence if people enjoy the reworks and updates, means they can hit the ground running when they do launch another big expansion.

Not only that, to introduce one of the best housing systems in Gaming, that outperforms FF14's and to abandon it after one expansion, and the game not having any follow up would be the biggest mistake ANet will have ever made.

bloomins8088: I have only played 30 minutes of Janthir Wilds, I'm so behiiiiind!!!

The_Caracal: I feel like what they need to do to bring more players to the game is to streamline and rework the base game. It feels so outdated and it turns away so many new players that the game will always struggle to grow. That's an unpopular take from a veteran player's perspective, but I think it would be healthier for that game in the long run if the first thing new players saw was ArenaNet at their very best.

MrBurrana: i know my numbers and letters ...i can reads

caveslug-t2k: With regards to "core" streamlining, get the feeling they might be talking about making the past parts of the game more doable for a future dwindling population. What makes GW1 even playable today was the addition of heroes and being able to do the content solo.

fadedcrayon4764: Anet has not and will never get their content strategy right. We been complaining since launch. They keep changing it. They need to either cut the scope and be honest or hire the staff to prevent this from happening. Either way, I'm sick of content delivery changes.

m.poppins4843: N/Rt is back baby!!

GT-legendary: friendship with revenant ended.

Necromancer is my new best friend.

iamcyndelaq3515: I actually want a group finder for the game rather than an LFG. I think a lot of players would come back to the game if you could queue up for fractals and raids like you can queue up for a PvP match.

I understand it would be complicated considering organised content has dedicated roles, but I would love it if ANet could figure it out and get it into the game. It would improve GW2 immeasurably imo.

meolloew: Base expansion has a lot of pressure to deliver if they want people to wait 6 months for a follow up and not fall off right after release.

TheColonelSassacre: If you are right that this is the "break in case of emergency" expansion, then the setting has to be the Dominion of Winds

borislavangelov3697: It is pretty obvious that Anet wants us to board the nostalgia train and the new elit specializations will be classes from GW1. They know the game is bleeding players with the new release model and they will try every trick under their sleeve.

phoenixtwolf: I really do want Guild Wars 3 and I think it would be wonderful.

I have lost interest in Guild Wars 2 since halfway through Living World Season 5.

Even though I was excited and played through EOD after that I have not really been back playing (I get on for 1 minute and then go back off)

Even this with new elite spec coming that I like talking about it and want to see what it is does not really make me want to get back on.

anthonymaringelli7478: Them saying system development will be their focus for “years to come” is very interesting

On one hand it means there’s years to come. On the other hand there’s a question of what else there will be besides working on old systems.

kataguruman: They had reduced the scope of their expensions with their new yearly model. Now they are reducing the scope of the reduced scope. Maybe next year we'll get 1 map and another adrenal mushroom mastery for that map.

oooSKYLIGHTooo: Sunsetting 2

izzy7716: Im curios why they said they have learned about story being too short and maps quality, idk if that also implies asset reuse. Because they said the same in SoTo and even to some extend in EoD and weve gotten the same or worst however you wanna see it. They havent hired anyone for GW2 in the past years, so i dont see a way how they can fix any problem they recognise in this post. The only hope is the 2 months delayed, that i think has more to do with them getting ppl out of the team for Guild Wars 3.

71775926: New story content once in 6 months that takes what? 2 hours to finish at best? Is farcical. I get more than that every 6 weeks in another game. Yeesh. I'm captive to sunk cost fallacy having played this from Day 1 so I'm not going anywhere but this just feels bad. In a way, end of development for GW2 might not be a bad thing for me personally, I can finally move on to other untouched games in my Steam library.

BigSkoomatv: A lot of people are dooming over this post because we arent getting "more content" in terms of more maps, more raids more slop.. despite the delay but heres my copium and prediction. Arenanet are still doing 4 maps total based on this points if those maps are baked right and provide that experience your talking about and the story experience improves I think the expansion will be very strong especially with elite specs coming. We don't need more content in these annual expansions but we need substance with in the content. 4 solid maps is essentially comparable to a HoT PoF and EoD.

fullmetalathlete: Why is Ritualist Necro but the art shows him with the covered eyes like a Revenant? Looks like Green Revenant. Channeling spirits from the mist. It's the entire Revenant thing. The description says they're unique to Cantha and all that green seems like the jade technology from Cantha. Are we sure this isn't Cantha green and not Necro green?

izgico6860: so Basically they are saying dear gw2 users, we are transfering our game design, map design, char design, and other visual artists to gw3 development so no more campain expansion for you.

banditoincognito8950: New classes ? everyone said it wouldnt happen, but here we are.
