xiaodaoputh2548: I love the idea of thief being tied to Skritts, I can finally re-create my rat thief character. But yes, the cards teaser was misleading. They could have just chose a rat's face.
frustratedsquirrel: Anet used cards as the class's symbol because this class is all about RNG and gambling. However it thematically doesn't have anything to do with actual cards. Weird decision.
dyno_97: Antiquary does feel like that meme "Random bulls**t go!!!"... also, ritualist actually have the same vibe as the Speaker Ritualist mobs in Cantha fr
Raelthorne: I have been playing MMOs for 2 decades. I have never been so happy to not play a class as I was during this thief reveal.
donut7907: ANET **HAS**
FlashyKG: As a thief main I am a bit annoyed, the skritt is completely un-necessary, thieves have been able to steal for 10 years without it. And a guitar and a hammer? really...
johnmytsu: by the reactions on the previous 3 specs I tought of me overreacting as these being really lame, this will be the first dlc arena net release that I don't prepurchase, at least until the beta.
mathieucollette3405: antiquary look ridiculous.
ggamerg1306: The moment I saw the guitar, I was like "seriously, the f... is this?" At least use tyrian themed old artifacts, but okay let's throw a hologram of a skritt stripper at someone.
endsage2163: Whose class fantasy is it to summon skrit, play heavy metal, and slam a giant hammer as a stealth based class...it just doesn't make sense
TheAquarius87: I'm really hoping revenant gets to be a Dervish.
Hell, I'll take Dervish on engineer even.
Engi and rev are the only ones Anet has remained tight lipped about...
buddylord3276: I don't think anybody knows anything, but they just want to complain
JReyesTbn46: Paragon: Mid
Ritualist: Pretty cool
Antiquary: What the fuck is this bullshit?
mismismism: Antiquary feels like 4-5 different people made different Thief specs and they just tried to force all of them together even though none of the parts thematically go together.
It's Indiana Jones collecting artifacts, except the artifacts are actually mundane, modern items that do wacky things that completely don't go together. In essence, it's actually just Thief Pro Max, so the name, icon, even the poem, feel so confusing.
lunerlilly: The thief is a bit odd to me but funny.
Alaus: this bs just reeks of desperation to be "different" and "unique" basically the embodiment of the meme "im not like the other girls" its embarrassing. beauty in simplicity. anyone who have played a fair share of mmos know what happens with the game when devs start putting immersion breaking and meme stuff in the game. and anyone who says its quirky and cool arent thief mains and wont be playing it. no one will be playing this long term.
Layer3D_Up: Let’s not get upset until the full reveal. The specs could be fun.
虫369: Ritualist is gonna be support or aggressive power dps, that what the paragraph says for it, you choose based on traits.
petersoncameron0323: The antiquary is a bit all over the place. But I like the necro. I main mesmer. But I want to eventually have time for a side piece. Necro is really enticing. Plus they share armor type for legendaries
TrevorFullbright: As a Thief main the antiquary doesn't inspire joy. The blog post made it sound better then the video, but still seems meh. Rit seems about on par with what I expect, which is perfectly fine, not sure why anyone would be upset by it. Hyped for paragon though, bring on a solid support warrior spec.
ilyakusenco8151: Ritualist could be fun, but they really need to adjust the models. They’re to Canthan, won’t fit most people’s aesthetic. They should make them smaller, less “personal”, add chains and other details like GW1 ones had and it would be top fantasy. Also a bit more spectral blue, it’s TOO green.
gryphawoo5444: i think the scritt thief looks fun though, ritualist just looks like Scourge 2 to me unfortunately which is kinda boring i was really hoping for a minionmancer spec because those really need a buff
balthazargreen: Paragon was aesthetically lame in Gw1, still incredibly lame looking in Gw2, except now instead not only just shouting like winged moron they can finally be the punching bag Warriors always have been for LameNet. First impression is all three suck compared to the first three Elite Specs revealed. Creatively inept, actual brainlet presentation and concept for the presenation of these three, very bad first impression. Ritualist's spirit's animations are incredibly jank and they kept that in to boot, those spirits animate in 30fps.
Dielock123: thief didn't get a single "thief like" spec since daredevil release. It's insane.
ashnemo2718: I think the issue people really have is that they forgot that the thief is a thief. Look at the other professions and their elite specs; you will notice they are all sticking to the main profession theme. A warrior is a master of weapons, a revenant channels legends from the mists, an elementalist harnesses elements, and so on. Then look at the thief and you will see the elite specs did not stick to the thievery theme of the thief, and they were designed for a profession that doesn't exist. With Antiquary, I think they tried to go back to that long-lost gimmick which people forgot about, and that is what caused the confusion.
misterbrady100: The spec I'm most looking forward to is Ritualist. That looks like it could be fun to play, and depending on the tuning of the spirits it could be something to help necro be less 'selfish' and have more group support. Looking forward to playing around with it.
I've never been into the thief profession. And the worry I have with RNG gameplay is that you can sometimes win or lose based on your luck. And even in open world a bad roll could get you killed. So players are going to do their best to minimize the randomness to get the outcomes they want. To balance that, Anet will have to either buff baseline Antiquarian or buff the random effects. I don't see Antiquarian making it more than a couple of years without a major overhaul, though I could be wrong. We haven't gotten the specs yet to try.
