SoulCasta: I hope that after crafting the legendary aquabreather, it either unlocks its use on all weight classes or it is just usable on all classes. I would hate if you have to craft it 3 times...
TheAerophobe: WP's enthusiasm about the lore and possibilities is actually infectious. Other YouTubers will talk about the systems and elite specs, but WP's talk on where we can potentially go is always the biggest hype and legitimately gets me more excited about the expansions. Really missed this content since the time of EoD Daily.
I've been as active as ever on GW2 with the new expacs compared to the PoF/LWS4 era and onwards. I'm mostly an open world and casual strike player, so the Obsidian armors in SotO were really compelling to me, since it gave me a tangible goal to work toward. I was able to get Eternal Forgemaster before JW's first update. Right after, I worked on getting the legendary spear, and now the backpiece. The Wizard's Vault dailies also helped in keeping interest, since there are quite a few goodies in there every season.
My hope for the expansion is that they consolidate raids and strikes by breaking raids up into multiple strike-like encounters, but call them all "raids". I've always felt iffy about going into raids for multiple reasons (have to commit to 3-5 bosses every time, can't target and practice any specific boss, need to coordinate and make sure people stay the whole time, etc.). But strikes are great since they're so flexible and short, and it's pretty easy to grab another person in case anyone leaves. If they break up raids, it'll be like adding 30 new strike missions in one expansion for people like myself. Of course, they can keep the current full raid wings for people who want to do them in their original context for greater or more premium rewards.
Anyway, keep up the good content!
MrEhaw: Your build template idea with the regions is 100% going to become a Blish addon.
anthonymaringelli7478: “Visions of eternity”, ley lines, inquest all reminds me of Omadds machine,
a Machine that used a ley line to see the eternal alchemy
Thatd be a really cool and unexpected story idea for them to explore
itsonlytyrus: Just used your link to buy SotO after returning from a few years break. Will be doing the same for JW and VoE tomorrow. Thanks for being a great Guild Wars content creator for all this time, we appreciate you :)
ch.k.3377: Could it be that Living World Season 4 gave us a subtle hint about Castora? Rata Primus is equipped with a signal antenna that was directed toward the open ocean at the time. If you extend that direction on the official ‘Unexplored Map’, you end up at an island located northwest of Cantha.
VynytaV: we are so back guild wars fans. i don't know why but this feels like a big refresh and exciting direction. im really loving how they're going to drip feed us information to build hype and suspense. I think the story direction is inspired, unique, intriguing and not overly grandiose & conveluted like SOTO's aspired to be. i'm more inspired and excited than i've been since PoF's press in the lead up to the release of that xpack. good stuff
Daudran: The bounty hunter rifle guy is wearing the Jugle Explorer Outfit, but has a different hat on. Might have something to do with the fashion templates. Also the raptors of the Inquest "leader" look more like cyborg raptors. They miss their tails and arms, which are replaced with mechanical parts.
AlaiaSkyhawk: That ship is from Istan, it's Sayida the Sly's ship (she's the one who talks right at the beginning), so it's fair bet to say that island south-east of Kourna is a likely candidate for Castora. Otherwise why recruit a Corsair captain? :)
gavelkynde4837: isn't there a ley line map? Castora is like a ley-hub, so maybe you can infer it's location roughly from that
LeviathanVIII: Well, inquest do have a lot of underwater research facilities... or at least a few.
jeffjohnson2525: Maybe we'll discover the secret to immortality, and we'll get to play with Aurene again when she wakes up! She better not turn evil....
Ossulstone: I'm playing right now but hadn't played from the launch of SotO to a few weeks ago. I think from vanilla to LS4 I was playing pretty actively the whole time. For Icebrood Saga I only played the first release then had a bit of a wobble, I played EoD but not the patch after. Then for both mini expacs I only got them after launch (only got Janthir Wilds a few weeks ago).
For me LS3 to LS4 was the absolute heyday of the game, I don't know if I'm looking back with rose tinted goggles but I remember the content feeling quality and regular and there was a real security with knowing that it would be LS then expac then LS (until it wasn't). I liked the globe trotting nature of season 3 but I also liked how LS4 really built on and even exceeded what we had in PoF. I was really hoping at the end of EoD they would do something similar.
But to be honest I think the biggest factor in my apathy towards the mini expacs has been the subject matter which hasn't really interested me. I'd love some more grounded stories in Tyria, maybe one on human politics or a proper charr expansion. I think I played so religiously before because I fell in love with the Tyria setting and I don't really care for expacs that take us out of it (Janthir Wild being a bit of an exception and I did enjoy it a lot more than SotO).
I'll keep an eye on this new expac but I'm a bit dissapointed that ArenaNet have built this massive amazing world and don't seem to want to build on it. If you set an expac in central Tyria or Elona/Cantha you could reuse a lot of existing maps for story steps, you could show how the world has developed with the passage of time and really benefit from what has already been built.
But anyway, went off on a bit of a tangent
rowanofrin2504: Maybe its just me, but I would love to see "what would you sacrifice for power?" be a question not just for the obviously power-hungry Inquest, but for the Commander too, although cynically I think its probably just to hype up the trailer. Would love to see the Commander maybe having to choose between saving a companion and stopping the Inquest, and now with the Commander's experience, they choose the greater good where in the past they may've just idealistically tried to save everyone. I LOVED their hints at the Commander's psychology as more than just a player stand-in in What Lies Beneath/Within, and I saw hints of darker themes in the transformation of the three White Mantle into Titans, but that was shut down too quickly imo.
nick0123210: I did play the last 2 expacs and enjoyed them, but my love for the game dropped dramatically compared to PoF/HoT times. The new release system doesn't retain me for longer than a couple of weeks most of the time. But I hope with the coming of new elite specs the difference in playstyles and themes of the specs will keep me going for a lot longer! I'm looking forward to experiencing them, and imo the setting of a tropical island (chain) is a welcome one.
Looking forward to the video with boots!
playlist233: Started GW2 a couple years ago in EoD. I was in awe of the content and lore of the expansions and gave the new model a fair chance; however, the last 2 expansions have felt too small at launch to play and I've kinda settled on waiting a year when all content is out before considering to play. At the very least GW2 expac launch hype doesn't exist for me anymore but I'm still a fan of the game.
ThatguyinKyushu: First time we are getting the new balance team making elite specs. And I have a lot more faith in them than the previous one.
sharondekker36: I'm actually quite excited for this expansion. SoTo didn't do much for me and I haven't gotten around to playing Janthir Wilds yet. The inquest scenes from the trailer remind me of Sandswept Isles. Let's hope this expansion is as good as living world season 4 was.
banditoincognito8950: I'm hoping they use this expac as a segue to remove waypoints and add open world for Unending Ocean sailing. Maybe the new islands are the ones southwest of Mordremoth?
TheScrootch: Castora... Castora... It sounded so familiar...
But I was just thinking of Astora from Dark Souls.
MikeyMacMac: If that fashion template concept isn't already a blish HUD add-on, IT SURE WILL BE SOON!
flobro6768: Plot twist: the big baddie from the Inquest is actually Taimi.
viator_eagle5936: WP is the circle structure an old Mist Gate....
