johnreesekl6249: Short version from my point of view. 1. Don't spend any gold bothering to gear up to Ascended Gear, just a waste of time (farming mats) and/or Gold. Fact of the matter is, better to learn to play with minimal investment (exotic gear, 1g per piece from WvW vendor), rather than waste gold chasing Ascended gear. You will get random Ascended along the way, or from the Wizard's vault (4 pieces-3 armour, 1 weapon) per reset. Better to just horde mats, and save for Legendary gear. Also, a well played player in exotics >>>> than some noob in Ascended. I know, I was THAT noob =P 2. install a pathing addon, and just do world completes, as time allows -- rather than mindlessly trying to "level honestly." You will need the map completes later anyway, so might as well start on them, and they will achieve the goal of advancement. After those two tips, I think the game is pretty wide open, you can do whatever you want: WvW, PvP, Open world, Fractals, Strike Missions, Raid, Convergences, Metas, etc..I mean, you can do whatever you want, without stress. Great game.

Average1212: On the free account you will never be able to sell that level 80 gear on the AH. You have to "unlock" the account.

I know this because i tried to play the free account until the next sale. However other than select vendor items and some crafting mats you are locked out of the AH.

There is a very very small selection of gear you can buy off the AH on the FTP account but not enough to put together a full set. I was sitting on all the gold from the wizards vault and literally couldn't spend it.

JeanWintersong: I finally finished both map completion and storyline completion in the Shipwreck Strand map and started map completion on the Starlit Weald map - the challenge of the new maps seem to be higher than usual for them...which is perfectly fine, of course
