mikalemadden1762: Part of me really detests having a bunch of 1,000 year old characters hanging out with us all the time. I much prefer it when the ancient history of Tyria is something that we get little glimses of through dusty old tomes in the Priory library, or while delving into ancient ruins. Not something that's just casually explained to us by some guy that we know, as if it happened to him yesterday.
mikalemadden1762: Oh, the bee ranger thing in BG3 is new - they added new subclasses in the latest update
segmanYT: Anet wanted GW1 to be pvp game - so they first created game modes (GvG) and then created some bullshit lore around them and made PvE to serve as a tutorial. They of course failed in being serious pvp game and shifted their focus to pve around Nightfall.
Anet wanted GW2 to be pvp game - so they kept original name (no surprise) and wanted WvW to become their GvG 2.0. They of course failed again, but never managed to find consistent vision to what their game is. So currently GW2 is a game for nobody. PvP is dead, Raids are dead nad PvE/story is lame.
It's time for GW3, which hopefully won't be another anet's pvp wet dream.
InkSpores: Following these streams I've been appreciating the music more and more, there's some fantastic scores in JW! It reminds me, there's a moment in Absolution where the Xera raid music plays and it really fits the scene you're in when it played. The devs knew what they were doing with the music.
I've also been recoiling in my chair at work when I see my name on stream, you've been getting my night shift 2-5am ramblings and hearing my thoughts read back to me has only convinced me I need a better sleep schedule lmfao. Thanks for entertaining and answering this sleep deprived night shift worker. :)
TheAkeledar: Regarding Isgarren's alleged outbursts: I find it funny that we (Commander) are never personally a witness to those, depsite what the story journal is trying to push. When we interact with the Wizard he is back to his aloof, sarcastic self. If it were not for the narrative from the story journal it'd almost seem like he is trying to project a more serious/emotionless/authoritarian persona when the PC is around; keeping up appearances.I don't mind that, it could've been a nice trait but as we don't actually see him behaving like this. I would've liked if the Commander questioned (at least at first) other's opinion of Isgarren. THEN we can have a scene when he looses his temper (deservedly or not). But that might be a bit too much interpersonal drama in an expansion where screen time is already limited.
I personally don't care that much whether Garren should or shouldn't be a tankanterous-prone-to-hyperbole-old-man, I do however care about consistency of character, which he lacks. Just pick a version.
Revanik: idk if you cover this later, im only like 50 mins in, but Efram's VA is Ike Amadi (Gorrik, Ramses, Ryland). His GW2 wiki page says he voices 4 lowland kodan that feature in some events throughout Lowland Shore and Janthir Syntri. So probably could've been available for VA work for Efram? Interesting he's not in any of the future patches, although one of those kodan (a dancer from the Lowland event) comes back in Godspawn (first JW patch) but its possible he just repeats a line from the event so they could've just reused it. Maybe the VA wasn't available for the post launch JW patches they'd need him for if he was a main character? Or (probably more likely) they just thought Malice would be more suited.. for some reason.
Mortimer13: Was really hoping for another stream today. God, the anticipation of finally getting to Absolution. I am so looking forward to the next stream
Slay5and5ing5: I feel anet's inclusion of Malice is for the inevitable Khan-Ur storyline and they want the imperators to be characters the players are familiar with. Malice never really had any screen time since the game's release, much like Smodur's successor Mia Kindleshot who has also been there since launch but has only really really been in the background much like Malice was.
Which kind of works pairing her with Caithe for the base story of the mini expac since the first part of the story was largely a scouting mission and they're both thieves.
Vidiri: She said what she was doing before joining the Lowland Kodan during an instance last episode. She was in the north doing "something" having to do with Jormag, and when Jormag was killed, she decided to go to join the Lowland Kodan instead of going back to the Wizard's Court. She put on the timeline that she joined the Lowland right after Dragonstorm happened.
xuzhang9580: Darda and Orestes are actually not that old. Though they were considered elders, they were not from the original batch of mursaats that got exiled from Nayos to Tyria (Darda's record said "We inherited the punishments of our forebearers—at least, those who survived the last cycle"). Since they didn't approve Manikaz's experiments or the whole thing about the Door of Komalie, and considering the information from the new patch (which I won't quote here to avoid spoilers), they might have even less blood on their hands than Mabon before his ascension. Anet wrote these two mursaats in and created their background story very carefully to not have them done anything majorly "wrong", then have them survived the titan crisis, which to me heavily suggests that we will meet these two and perhaps become allies in the future.
BigSkoomatv: Schedule for the xpac 6 is scheduled for early July but we may get something at the summer games fest cause they did buy ad space.
viator_eagle5936: WP I've been thinking about this for a while, but what if the Deep Sea Monster is a failed version of Aurene from a previous cycle.
_Banjo_: I feel Anisse was well placed. There has always been something "off" and mysterious about her, particularly when you ask about her age: this scene really fleshes out that she was always involved to some extent.
Anet added the Extra Life questline, and it had a few callbacks. Little did we know they were laying the groundwork for a future story. In the final JW base story, we learn that Mabon was actually the leader of this collective from a nearby book. Then, seconds later, we talk to Anisse about her links to Mabon.
Anisse mentions lavish banquets they used to have; one of the last things we see in the mesmer collective is an old dated receipt at the bottom of that Dwarven JP.
Hearing Anisse talk about Mabon brought it all together. We're supposed to feel significant loss about Mabon's passing, but the reality is, we didn't know him; he wasn't on screen long.
Can we align with the other Wizard court members' views on him, especially when they are still so closed off about secrets? Anisse was quite reassuring about Mabon, and she's someone the commander knows reasonably well up to this point.
Talking about seeing his face is quite fascinating to me too, though quite light hearted jokes - puts her in quite a unique position. How many people know what a mursaat really looks like? The fact he showed himself to her whilst not in disguise then further without the mask, shows how close they actually were.
Originally, I thought the extra life quest was some fun lore throwaways, but it's crazy to think how the mesmer collective storyline has been such a well-thought-out throughline through this mini-expansion era. Them bringing back characters such as Anisse, Dagonet, and Malice actually helps build on characters that are important but could easily be forgotten about. It gives me faith that they actually have a plan inplace (despite some dodgy nayos stuff). It all fits very cleverly and expands on previous lore.
Also now i think about it Anisse was also very relevent during season 3 and topics surrounding Caudecous / Livia / Mursaat etc
_Banjo_: Still finding it really difficult to place some of these timelines. I feel like we're juggling what has happened to the wizards from a long time ago but also mixing in what they were doing in either gw1 history, or in recent commander history. The commander works out some secrets that you as the player may have mised. So when hes calling Waiting sorrow out, i find it jarring and had to take a step back and find out what im accusing her of.
We've got two identity-related reveals on the same character. Fading Aurora the village healer, is infact a Wizard Waiting Sorrow. Then Also... she was a missing Voice. Two instances of identity change where she has also ran away from people, but at two very different times in history. Its very easy to confuse this. Especially when the baseline lore for when these things happened hasnt been that prominent. Some of this is reliant on old lore that we've not been reminded of at all as far im concerned.
You've also got some stuff about Mabon/Isgarren's relationship. Its hard to picture when this stuff happened, even us WP video enthusiasts may be struggling. We're hopping quite casually between the Seer/Mursaat war and Gw1 main story/Titan quests, but there are also hints about the caducous stuff going on at the gate. Then talking about characters leaving/returning to places, possibly confusion on talking about multiple prominent doors / gates. If you missed a lore book you could easily get two situations mixed up.
Might be old man brain, but I can't be the only one who is finding it hard to know what they're talking about.
GeminiKLY: You can cut out the Q&A section of the stream and post it as a video
osiek8: I mean it could be me but isgarren went from grupy old man into a MAN that thinks is always right and can't change his mind - I don't know but writing teams feels going into politics...
