MMOADHD: Guild Wars 2 finally clicked with me after so long. Literally took me 10 times for me to get into it, but it's so rewarding. I'm 33, and as you mentioned, a lot of us just don't have the time anymore. GW2 really respects your time. I can't go back to others now. Great video.

After the gw3 announcement, it hit my algorithm and i watched a few videos on both games, including your new player advice video. I started the game last monday, I’m level 46 and have had a blast.

Also…. I’ve never really been a fan of MMOs. I liked the old Star Wars galaxies game when i was in high school and freshly graduated, but i was playing on a fan server because that game shut down years before. I played osrs as a kid a lot, but that was more out of ease of access and not because i truly loved it.

Ive tried wow, swtor, albion online, ffxiv, eso, and new world, and the only one of those i liked was new world, but it’s shutting down.

I went ahead and bought the complete collection with heart of thorns, path of fire, and end of dragons plus living world because of how much I’m genuinely enjoying it.

This is really the first time I’ve ever truly had fun in an mmo, and have made an effort to group up side from the sw galaxies fan server.

So thanks for your video for new players. Ive been doing what you said and going in blind and ive just been doing my story, map completion, and events. I did Join a social guild as well. I’m gradually learning the game more each day, and all the old players have been extremely helpful and nice. When i tried wow (both classic and retail) in 2023, people were ASSHOLES lol. Like fr i asked if anyone was willing to group up with a new player and i got jumped with literally DOZENS of messages telling me “no, f you. K**l yourself and quit” lmfao. I get that that’s just their community joking around, but that’s still not the kind of community i want to be a part of lol.

Glad to be here in gw2 and finally starting my first mmo for real at 31 with a career and family lol

ghostsong635: For some of us the GW3 announcement came right after Blizz shut down a popular private server, and is actively going after all the other servers that are doing it right. We are done rerolling and done with a developer that abuses its playerbase. This time around GW2 feels so fresh , immersive, and respectful. Loving my reintroduction.

Wanted to play the first dungeon and met up with some people to do it immediately when I entered the map. We formed a guild on the spot after finishing the dungeon. We're all new or returning players.

Loving the exploration and how events make the world feel alive. Started doing fractals because of the fractal rush thing and they're really fun and varied.

mbvx7: I am back because wow wants me to grind 20 factions and re-gear every 6 weeks. no time for that junk. if you don't do your dailies and weeklies EVERY single week, your carrot RUNS away from you.

GW2 is more fun, more relaxing, and let's me play 1 hour or 40 hours and progress forward either way. I literally deleted Blizzard off my computer. I think I am going to try and Sell the entire account.

werbearjack: One piece of evidence of what is happening in GW2 I encountered is that the Devona/Nika/Zhed gear sets have gotten pretty expensive, most pieces are over 1 gold when they used to hover around 40 silver.

For years content creators have praised them as a cheap first max level set with Berserker stats that will always be relevant - and it seems a bunch of new or returning players are listening to that.

It certainly indicates that there is an influx of not only new character but level 80 characters on accounts that don't have access to legendary armor.

weebamf: I've taken years off a few times from it and came back like 5 months ago and loving the new expansion. Also going back and earing all the masteries and stories I skipped the other times I played. Joined a new guild and the guild filled in about 2 weeks with new and old people.

basvandenberg4361: I started 3 years ago. A year before that I tried but like many it didn't click for me. But man. When it does it hits hard. And I am so glad gw3 wil be a different kind of game.

rikku942: Played back in beta days. I constantly go back on and off to guild wars 2, still even play GW1 from time to time. GW1 is great on steamdeck btw for anybody that has one. I do tend to get bored of it fairly quickly with GW2 though and need breaks so the no sub helps when it comes time when a new xpac comes out. Not having a sub is probably the only reason I come back to this game when I can't find other things to play. The horizontal gear grind always killed me... feeling like I'm only playing for story and upgrading my mount through masteries 90% of the time is probably why I get bored so fast. My Necro feels kind of pointless to play in newer xpacs even if I love the class because I really don't need new gear to do most of the things and my Viper gear from way back when doesn't really need to be upgraded at all. So for me GW2 is kind of a double edged sword. I think I like GW1 a lot more than GW2 just because I can be a necro then play another class as a subclass and change things up.

draxxx_exe: as a new player in my 30s i can confirm gw2 is busy! almost feels like a new game based on how active the servers are. this game respects your time and as a dad that’s huge for me. i came from fps games and an on/off eso player but this game hooked me immediately. love these videos man!
