I'm somewhat of a veteran Guild Wars 2 player.

I've watched the first 30min of the video, so sorry if the next part of my comment is explained later in the video.

In the video you said gathering is something you can completely ignore while leveling up. This is technically true, however, you will be missing out on a lot of value.

I would argue that gathering materials (logging, mining, harvesting) is important even if you don't craft, as it is a valuable source of income.

The GW2 economy (read: how to make gold) is not something that is understood right away.

Experienced players will know that this game does not give a lot of gold via quests, mob drops or the like. What you do get is a wide variety of resources from a wide variety of activities which can be used or traded.

Even if you bought Mithril gathering tools (max quality) and used them to gather the lowest lvl nodes, you'd still make a profit by selling the materials on the Trading Post.

If a gathering node is on your path, there's literally no easier method to get money because all you have to do is press Interact and wait a few seconds.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

I'm not saying that going about and gathering is a good method of earning value. I'm saying that one should not pass by a node without gathering it (unless you're in a hurry).

TL;DR

Gathering nodes = money; unless you really don't wan't to wait 2.5 seconds

I understand not everyone is eager to stop and gather. This is my opinion. Someone do some math and prove me wrong.

I just got back into eso and your extremely comprehensive guide was awesome, looks like i'll be dipping my toes back into gw2 as well to avoid the filth-slop tsunami of "modern" mmo's releasing which are all doomed to fail.
