Hope you get to experience the expansions some time, Path of Fire for the mounts, or could do SoTo for early skyscale, or Janthir for the Warclaw and Housing. End of Dragons would give you the Bunny pretty quick, so maybe actually that's the best one for you to start with, although story-wise definitely out of order :D You could get to End of Dragons, get the Bunny and the Virtuoso elite specialization, and just not do the story :D giggle

My advice for a new player if you are feeling lost.

Open up your hero tab and go to achievements. Inside you will see an adventure guide that will give you some tasks to do that reward you with alot of experience. Outside of that, focus on the main story when they are available and enjoy the open world! There are massive META events and world bosses that are full of players happening constantly! As you level up a good thing to pick up in the gemstore is the World Boss Portal Device. It really helps new players get around and experience the content!

nielsjensen4185: The thing about GW2 is that you get so easily distracted, "I have this pla... what's that over there?" The game is kryptonite for ADHD.

nielsjensen4185: For me, it was less the class and more the gameplay loop. Levelling, you're unable to see it, once you get to level 80 and more and more of the map outside the Core zones. Everything after Core is endgame, meaning that the game has 38 endgame zones. If you have all the content, meaning that if you get tired of one thing, you can always go and do another, and that's great.

The other benefit is that once you hit LVL 80, that's it. There's no other levelling carrot; you can get the second-best gear from the TP, and it's only 9% worse than the best gear in the same. The carrot is the skins you can get, and if you get Legendary Gear, you can freely transmute it; it's also shared between all of your LVL 80 characters who can use it.
