Shopping Cartwilliamgeorge2580: "Golems do not hit back." - Bruce Lee, Asuran Genius
SmugKot: Benchmark is there to show the maximum potential dps the class can do, and most people miss that point.
rusty2969: Hope this farms views for you homie, because that dense nugget Framithor won't budge.
He will just deny that it was ever about benchmarks and then persist on moving the goal posts to suit his arguments.
uhhhmnm: Voe felt very much like jw or soto to me. A lot of hype at launch but not really enough to do to keep it going.
Acolyte7: I think VoE has great content, better than the other mini expacs for sure. I just have no reason to return to it. I still grind the SOTO maps because I want the obsidian armor skins... Anet missed the marks on rewards for sure
IvanGarelli: VoE did not release enough content to fill the content drought but the new elite specs allow for interesting gameplay while interacting with existing content. More regular bonus events will also help keep the game fresh.
I do hope however that they get tuned down to reasonable levels as it currently feels shit to play older specs when comparing the fps numbers against new specs like ritualist and Firefox.
eksleja: Regarding the question in the end, I loved VoE. It felt like HoT-lite for me, and anything thats close to HoT is a win in my book :D
Very high event density, I also like metas in both maps, collections/exploration without wiki was really fun, elite specs extend my playtime significantly as well.
I suppose if you only play GW2 then the 6 month update gap is a struggle, but i'd encourage people to play some other games in the mean time if you've ran out of things to do in gw2. Personally gonna be blasting the new PoE2 league as soon as it launches and then cant wait for the 2nd part of VoE :)
Lothkru: People that complain about benchmarks fail to understand their reason of existence. Is like saying that a benchmark test for a GPU or CPU are meaningless because your PC won't ever be in a scenario of maximum stress constantly ... Benchmarks are there to grasp potential, compare between products (in an MMO's case, builds) and also identify where something can be improved on, they're not there as a measurement for normal/standard use (because "normal" use for X person can be something entirely different to Y person). If you (any reader) can't grasp that idea, that's fine, ignore benchmarks, but you don't have a leg to stand on if someone asks you if X is better than Y, since you don't have a reliable point for comparison, only subjectivity (which we all know is the most unreliable point to compare anything to anything, since everyone's tastes vary).
boxonothing4087: This thing was started by someone who thinks he's the only one to understand mechanics.
Benchmarks provide indicative value in test conditions, their results have never reflected what you do in actual combat.
If you make a series a videos telling something that obvious, you might not be as smart as you think you are.
It has become painfully obvious he still doesn't get what benchmarks are for
RealProzeR: As a casual GW2 enjoyer, I’ve definitely enjoyed my experience in the VoE maps so far compared to SotO and JW.
Could argue a decent part of my enjoyment is from the new elite specs, but I’ve barely done the story quests and the maps just feel more finished than those of the previous expacs during launch.
Kolbitar-p3y: ? grind what maps? For 6 months? Whut? I'm already back out of Castoria...
antonmishchenko4986: For now VOE feels like the best of the mini expacks so far, at least for me. But I'm a relatively new player ~500hrs, so I have shit load of stuff to grind from other expansions. For veteran players, who has every legendary in the game, there probably not much to do in VOE for now, especially considering that map events aren't particularly interesting
xXx_FilthyCasual_xXx: Benchmarks are for dedicated tryhards most casual players play whatever they like not whats benched best ;p
infexion8683: I'm one of those people that get the expansion once it's finished - when all the bugs/annoyances are ironed out,
elite specs(or weapons) get balanced out/get upgraded/changed so I cannot judge if VoE "flopped"
will see next year lol, recently finished Janthir and it was... ok
Yerbatized: I love to imagine someone picked “higher” on the multiple question section. And was really disappointed when you said “I have sad news for you”
TheRealCHIMShady: "benchmarks" or in wow we call them "patchwork sims" are utterly useless because maybe 1 raid fight per xpack you do dps without any mechanics
misterbrady100: The Visions of Eternity expansion is overall mid. If you take elite specs out, it is a nothing burger really. They need to tune the elite specs, but overall it's been good on that front. Also, the new skimmer mastery is great, and traversal options is always good. But the actual content is lacking in my opinion. I find old maps are starting to draw me away again, and if it wasn't for the boss teleporter I may not even go back to the new maps for a while. I'm still working on my legendary armor, so I have to go to other areas of the game for that.
AzureRoxe: Benchmarks show perfection, which will almost never happen in actual fights and almost no one will bother to do it correctly every single time for however long the battles ends up being.
DoDofool: I still think these maps are two of the best designs of the game
this.is.a.username: the only thing worse than this guy's video was having to sit through Teapot talking to him live on twitch as he booted that goalpost farther and farther down ze autobahn.
DragonZlaverGW2: well voe was a flop because outside of grinding the achievement list for the legendary there barely anything to do in the downtime but for mirror farm, nodes, and a few mindless events. On top of that the maps where so rushed anet left huge holes in the map to break out of in about 30secs maps gets broken both in open world and in the instances of the story aka example the story instance of seers ruins behind the stair case anet forget to patch the walls so they don't exist and so you can walk out and fall into the void waters.
shakeweller: What I don't understand is that people use 10 year old fights as references how much DPS is needed to clear it. Uhm... only the hardest content even matters when we talk about damage. Like LCMs and the NEWEST (non powercrept) CMs. Saying "Oh you can clear most fights in the game doing 20-25k dps is like saying "I can clear LFR in WoW using the 1-button-assist macro". No one cares. Normal mode raids do NOT MATTER. Normal mode strikes DO NOT MATTER. That is casual content for everyone and designed to be clearable with bad performance.
NesterNeworchard: to me the golem is a part of learning the build. training muscle memory while getting to, say, 80%, more so to be able to pick up the rotation after punch in the face rather than expecting to do the number on a boss.
elocfreidon: The only benchmarks I care about is the maximum dps and survivability you can provide without relying on others.
nd6886: Didn't think benchmarks mattered in a game in which raids are niche compared to structured PvP by Anet's own admission.
xezzee: Actually in some cases you can do More dps than benchmarks.
