Discussing Guild Wars 2 Absolution Patch With Laranity NoxxiTheNoxxian !

MsEpilady: When the credits started rolling, I was like...is that all there is? The most anticlimactic endings ever (as I typed that, Laranity said it, so it must be true).

tBarkEditing: the whole "bava nisos is a titan" was incredibly cool in concept and it's a shame that it was not given enough time to be properly developed

Pirokh: It was definitely an expansion in Guild Wars 2. The Bava Nisos Titan never spoke. The Goresval in Bava Nisos is the souls of the Mursaat. Ellen Kiel sleeping with someone has been a running gag through every expansion. She did up Zalambur in PoF, and Rama in EoD she didn't show up in SoTo but they made up for it by her oogling Isgarren at the start of Janthir Wilds. Becaue Ellen has to sample every foreign cuisine she can get her hands on.

Sonofhud: I’ve played every single patch since launch and I can’t think of a time where I was more let down by a patch. I even thought IBS was decent especially because of how beautiful the map(s) were.

Based on the previous patches, I had set the bar pretty low, and this still failed to meet those mild expectations.

The new maps are lackluster, meta-events are boring / not engaging, and the writing is lazy. Not only that, but the missing VO is sort of the cherry on top.

I hate to pile onto the conspiracies about GW3, but it really does feel like a skeleton crew is updating this game.

1980Shadowwolf: Also enough with the fill this green bar bs to continue.

Ethan-wu4re: By far the worst expansion ever tbh :(

crow_buddy: Anet, please lean into GW3 100% and just say: "Play GW2 now because all your cosmetics, MTX, legendary skins, titles, it'll carry over to GW3 and your new account!" Players would login and farm like crazy. I would reinstall and play. It's an easy win. I'm not saying you'd have legendary armor equipped on Day 1, but you'd unlock skins. This is Fashion Wars, after all.

haridiam915: Janthir was a 9 out of 10? Was she playing the same game we were? After watching bits of this video, their shilling is very evident. I guess they have the keep the cope going for the good of their own jobs as content creators.

goonmerchant: i think there has been a drop off in terms of content and quality of content in recent years with more of the content enforcing grind/repetition in a bid to keep players distracted from the lack of content alongside the ever-repetitive festivals and events to further promote this distraction. I think this is probably indicative that resources have been pulled from GW2 to work on 'other' games and upcoming expansions.

The game still has a tonne to offer newer players but for veterans like myself I find myself filling time with other games,. Yet the one game-mode (WvW) that does keep me logging in weekly never seems to receive any meaningful updates.

HarlsonLargegut: So Noxxi is a dude?

Opus_Fluke: Final fight was a bit pants. But the coolest thing was the ghost of the Mursaat Gardener who casually remarks about what happened to his people. The line about his fellow Mursaat focusing so much on his shovel that they failed to notice the dagger in his other hand until it was too late was chilling. And his memories at the end of the jumping puzzle were nice. Not all Mursaat were monsters.

ihappy1: Arena net is really good at starting stories, but horrible at concluding them. This has pretty much been true since at least (to me) Icebrood Saga. Soto and now Janthir have both had the same issue. Launch story and maps are really good, solid intros, fun maps, good starting points. But the 3 updates are so disappointing. It's like they put 70% of their effort into the beginning, with each update being another 10% after.

And on the one hand, for $25 and looking at the whole experience, I don't regret it. The homestead is cool, spear is interesting (but only really fun on elementalost for me), the warclaw upgrades are neat, though like the sky scale is blows some of the other mounts out of the water. Why would I ever use a raptor when I can use a warclaw? I would have preferred upgrades to the raptor, springer, and jackal instead of having the warclaw outshine all of them. (Also Anet why the hell is combat mounting only for 2 of the mounts? Let me do that on all of them, it's a great feature for warclaw, it should be the standard on all mounts.)

Overall though, that JW ending sucked, and I barely played when update 3 came out, so at least the combined Mistburned barrens/ Bava Nisos story and maps felt like one whole update instead of two half ones.

We'll see what they do next, since they're taking their time with it, but I'm going in with very low expectations, and even if it starts strong I have no reason to believe it will conclude well at all.

Kevin-gf4im: Janthir wilds isnt terrible but it also isnt great. If they put another mediocre expansion out before ending gw2 i feel it will force a lot of players to leave for good. The only way to improve player moral at this point is to show us what they are working on. If it is gw3 or something else.

FoureyesZero: All this Titan lore is very interesting it would have been even better if any of it was in the game.

Nex123: Worst patch ever. The bugs and issues with the client made the game frustrating because you don't get credit for things you've done.

The meta is lackluster. People in map were saying "that's it?". It was just poorly designed, just reused content.

ottersnow-f2w: I think the Meta should have been based around Lextalion vs Saevus. Lextalion may be visually a Gorseval reskin, but in terms of character and lore Lextalion's VERY different. Gorseval is almost entirely made up of human souls, most of whom had no idea why they were being sacrificed. Lextalion is mostly made of legions of Mursaat, many of whom fought the Titans until the end, and many of whom were sacrificed by Manikaz, betrayed by their own kind. This is the ultimate "your past come back to haunt you" kind of scenario. They could have written it that Saevus waited for Mabon, but when Mabon died Saevus started expanding its influence outside Bava Nisos, becoming more powerful and seeking to avenge its friend Mabon.

Write it so that Saevus, a Titan, is preparing to wage an all out war against the Kryptis. And since we literally JUST signed a truce with the Kryptis to stop them invading Tyria, stopping Saevus has way higher stakes than "evil titan bad". We'd be rushing in to stop ANOTHER interdimensional war from breaking out. And then write in that Saevus' increased activity ACCIDENTALLY awoke Lextalion.

Hell, they could have based the Meta around a three way battle between titans, demons and bloodstone ghosts controlled by Lextalion, with the Tyrian Alliance right in the middle of it all.

adambryant7430: this whole time i thought noxxi (just based on name and the character drawing looking) was a girl

KotMatroskin: What I wonder now is who forged the 3 titans from the White Mantle people: Ura, Decima, Greer. I'm not quite convinced the big titan could forge them, since it's sitting on the other side of the Mists Gate. So who did the soul twisting and forging? Can they really self-forge? Oh here we go: maybe it was Lyhr, because he said he was going to check on the Foundry of Failed Creations. Lyhr is Menzies?? Maybe Menzies possessed him back when we 'brought Lyhr back'. Maybe we didn't quite.

meolloew: I learned to temper my expectations with gw2 since they started hiring for a new mmorpg since that's obviously going to eat up a lot of dev resources but even still I found this ending super underwhelming. Oh well

programmingwithchatti4063: 7/10 expansion tbh the homestead feature is such an awsome feature, the "community aspect" of the game especially if you have a "full homestead" and people can come and admire your builds was the most fun i had since lws4 ngl.

l0I0I0I0: I look forward to the edit (shorter) version of this!

ottersnow-f2w: I feel like in terms of story setting (not map or meta design), Bava Nisos did REALLY well, especially as a GW1 fan. And I do think the writers have FINALLY redeemed themselves for introducing the 'last Mursaat' and then killing them off three seconds later, TWICE, since we get to interact with several interesting Mursaat ghosts throughout the expansion as a whole, and some lore texts in Bava Nisos reveal that at least one or two Mursaat DID escape from Janthir and have presumably been hiding out somewhere for the last 260 years. Perhaps on that unnamed continent to the west.

But in terms of the actual story, I think it was a massive let down. Saevus is essentially the villain of the entire expansion and he/she doesn't get a single line of dialogue.

At one point in time, Saevus was presumably the last of the Titans. Centuries ago, the last known Titan faced off against the last known Mursaat in the ruins of Bava Nisos, and neither had the will to fight anymore after so much war, and instead became friends. That's a character worth talking to. But like so many GW2 characters, Saevus was killed off before being able to do much of anything interesting. Not to mention that Saevus presumably started out basically the size of a dog and ended up absorbing AN ENTIRE CITY. It basically turned itself into an Elder Dragon level threat because it was the last one standing in the wake of the Flameseeker Prophecies. But we get no dialogue whatsoever.

I honestly think the poor handling of Saevus is as bad as the end of the Icebrood Saga.

And the Sceptre of Orr got the Magdaer treatment. Insanely powerful artifact with crazy lore implications finally plays a role in the GW2 story, and immediately disappears forever. They could've just put it back in the Astral Ward's vaults. It could have interesting stories in the future. But nope. It's gone. Yippee...

favillionbellarion9655: Im not sure we are accepting barely finishing products as good?, i pay for a expansion in 4 parts i want a FULL expansion in four parts, not a good first half then crappy little 1 hour farts at the end?

NoxikAD: To be honest I was disappointed with SotO and the story that started well but ended up flat and made the whole expansion more of a pain than anything, I thought nothing could get worse but Janthir Wilds did disappoint me even though I was not expecting much. Don't get me wrong, the musics and the homesteads are really nice, but in my opinion the new raid wing, the spears and the story in general is pretty much like SotO, it started well but end up being more boring and annoying than anything.

Then again it's hard to really rank an expansion compared to the one we used to have like HoT, PoF, EoD as the dev team is not as big as it used to be and the time is shorter between each expansions, but I do hope and wish for the best for the next one which make me rather curious after the push back announcement and the showcase of the core GW2 in the Summer Game Fest so we'll see what the the future will give us!

cierrablue: Respectfully, it's not Laura, it's Lara.

Jersey621: As always Mukluk TY very interesting video. Noxxi and Laranity thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts..
