NewbWorld: I have the hoarding problem bad.

aranzen: For the auto attack, you can turn it off and press the 1 chain manually. It might help convince you that The Commander can auto faster than you can, if you see your own 1 chain timing. Or it might give you better control over timing.

For the hoarding, that's what the wiki is for.

Type "/wiki" and shift click the item and it'll take you to the wiki page for it and you can determine if it's really important or not.

If it's really important for an achievement or collection, there's a good chance that you can get it again.

For the boosts, logging out is probably the best way to keep those, but you really don't need them for "efficient" play.

Reward tracks are more important than rank in WvW in most cases, though there can be exceptions.

Magic find boosts are nice, but boosts can be gotten from multiple sources, not just the booster items. Plus, capping magic find is really only important for holiday bags, where fomo is real.

As for the getting distracted while playing:

skehall8139: You kind of have to "spam" 1, If your character kills one enemy, hitting 1 makes them target another enemy. So, I daresay, most people spam the 1 key.

rarausa405: Thanks for the chuckle. I definitely have some of these 'bad' habits as well. Distraction is a mainstay of GW2, at least for me. I, too, love those orange events that constantly drag me away from whatever I was determined to accomplish. I also find myself suddenly having to look in nooks and crannies that surely have something interesting (and sometimes they do!). And the hoarding! I have unlocked all the panes of storage in my bank; it's never enough. Glad you're enjoying GW2; I say keep those bad habits, they're good!

framinthor: I have that 1 key pressing problem too, and you know I tried to stop doing it and I realized that sometimes it would just stop autoattacking on its own (I am sure something happens for it to do it), so I decided to just keep pressing it

ironnoodle7992: Spamming attack skill 1 can actually be detrimental to your DPS. If that attack is a chain of skills (some have 3 skills) and you spam it, then only the first skill of the chain is activated when the subsequent skills are more powerful; doing more damage and having other effects.

After 13 years of play, I still have lots of stuff in my inventory that, "one of these days I will do something with".

GW2 is an adhd and ocd dream game. No plan survives contact with the enemy

Right from in game it will open the wiki for that item and the notes will generally tell you what the item is for. If an items only value is as part of a collection, once its added to the collection you can dump it.

nielsjensen4185: The spamming 1 is a habit you've created from other games where AA is what you do between everything else. IN GW2 it's the main thing you do, anf then you do oter things inbetween.

In GW2 it's a major problem is that A LOT of your DPS comes from AA, if you use a weapon that has a chain. Get used to hold 1 so it makes 1-1-1 and then a new chain starts. Disable AA auto-casting, and get used to just finishing the chain, and then you press another button.

AusTxMale: Instead of buying more bag slots next time, I'd suggest material storage expansions. Each one increases your storage capacity by 250 up to a (current) maximum of 3000. So all those ore, wood, and other crafting materials will have more space in your bank rather than your bags.

ChopPvP: I have a bad habit of pressing each skill so many times because in wvw I get ping lag sometimes and you have to spam it
