Shopping CartElgato1221: my favorite part so far is when the Haranir lady made peace between the elves and the trolls by telling them "we all had a common ancestor", i mean hell if we could just try this in the middle east we would have this all figured out by now.
seanallard9335: I was so moved when the trolls told the elves, "we wuz trollzzz n' sheeeiiit." It was like telling North and South Korea, "we're the same, we should kiss and make up."
Truly peak writing; brought a tear to my eye.
FantomMisfit12: I left when they ruined Sylvanas and threw Arthas away back in Shadowlands.
EmperorOfPotatoes: WoW is, almost literally, like watching your best friend from childhood troon out and lose his mind on drugs and media
Daniel-jv7jq: I find it hillarious that when you are doing questline with Arator following you, everybody's else Arator is turned into Silverhand blood elf. Because of course, YOU have to be the most Special person in the world.
SnoopingCommentGoblin: What I found more insulting is that the Voidspire raid actually introduced stakes at the end.... And then they immediately resolve it.
Sunwell? Instantly fixed. Nobody even learned a lesson about it.
Voidstorm? Gone.
Silvermoon? No longer in danger (Why even stay there lmao)
Tensions between the elves? Nope.
Did we even NEED to get the Amani's help? No lol they didn't even do anything except show up with a squad of 5.
N̄ACARÎCVS: It's far, far too late for Chris Metzen or anyone from the original team to fix the writing or anything for that matter. The writing declined in late cata and got worse in MoP with Garrosh. Garrosh, despite being harsh and lug-headed, became an le evil orc version of the Austrian painter, which started the whole “Horde is always evil, and their leader eventually becomes an evil Austrian painter or evil undead lady working for some bald dude who got shoved in at the last minute with no lore existing about him till the new expansion.” I think Legion was the last good WoW expansion where Blizzard got their shit together after the mess that was WoD. However, good things don't last forever, and everything went back to square one afterward and continued getting worse, Although there were signs in legion, it was going that way.
ePLixOfficial: I wonder why the voice actors feel the need to deliver their lines as if they would be speaking to a bunch of children...
oh wait...
georgedevries3992: "This is Blizzard's world and we are just some rats living in it." Good thing I don't. Stopped ages ago at Suramar, Legion expansion.
The Emperor protects.
SpookSkellington: We're THIS close to all conflict being solved by Disney-esque escapades where the background characters break out in song and all the animals start dancing.
I have no words to describe how much i hate Modern Wow's writing, so just picture a frothing Khornate berserker being told he has to do math homework or something.
RaveMasterSRB: Btw, leftist woman and male feminist millennials wrote this.
andrey22: The dumbest part for me was having this nobody congregate the highest strata of elf and troll society to tell them....something that they should already know (and we as a player have known since forever). Which is not even a reveal if you know at least a little bit of lore. Hell, one of the fun filler quests in Legion had your character investigating sabotage in the war camp before the assault on Suramar City. The demons were inflitrating the alliance and horde camps and trying to instigate race riots between the Keldorei and Sindorei. One of the demons left a troll mask in the Night Elf camp with a note that said, "Here's a gift so you don't get homesick, signed not-demons". When even the rank and file in Theldrassil knows that their ancestor was a troll, the whole premise of a reconciliation peace mission is idiotic. It just reeks of a new writer that spent a few hours reading the wiki (or most likely asked an AI to write a story for them).
stephen8342: The sun well was promised to them 2000 years ago
icsimicsi: Man.. i was a Sylvanas fanboy like ever, but now.. don't even her return can make me excited for this garbage..
gostreiver8036: God that legion trailer gives me chills, the literal last expansion where people who actually loved the original Warcraft and Classic worked on the game still. So many flavor texts and love letters to the fans with Order halls and High class fantasy
also the real Conclusion of the story with Sargeras, we can happily close the book and call that the end
avalartandru7604: Ironically but story of WoW was better when blizzard tried less - just simple quest lines without a flying head constantly saying that you are a hero and you are doing good job collecting boars' asses. Would like to see something like this once again in current wow, maybe they could spend less on unnecessary long story parts and focus more on gameplay/unique zone gimmics, the gameplay itself isn't bad. But I have a feeling that they are deliberately bloat the story with unnecessary things because their statistics say this is how they make players stay longer in the game or something like that.
GoalOrientedLifting: modern wow lore is one of the where hating on it is morally correct. cause its such an eyesore. i had to even actively ignore the lore cause of how it ruined the game.
increasegas2221: jokes on you i'm used to having flaccid experiences
serijas737: Why is it always a Night Elf with droopy eyes delivering [Artefact] to a [Sanctuary] being a cinematic moment.
Please use the Female Tauren Model for once. They literally have Anshe, the Sun, and the Musha, the Moon, as their believe. Sun Well. Sun. Moon meets Sun.
Makes sense Blizzard? Nope, we gotta put Night Elves into everything.
SailorNeptune-e54: wotlk was peak, idk I think the game died for me after the Lich king.
phatkat301: This story is written for babies to enjoy.
Porter._000: I've never played retail, and every time I see how bad the graphics got, storytelling, how schizophrenic questing looks. I feel great for having it abandoned WOW on Wrath
Fradth: Elves getting their own reunion time even if we forget the rest of the world linked to them, okay, okay, thats cool...but why the fuck strangers like the Haranir join the final fight? And even worse, the Amani trolls, the WORST ennemies of Silvermoon that hated them for millenias?
bennibo1481: You right. Story is so bad i hate it
filidhdeklend893: Game went from World of Warcraft to Cringy Foidcraft in less than a decade.
That said though, you get what you pay for and you all keep paying for this garbage. ESPECIALLY those of you playing Classic, you're subsidizing your own ruination.
Mitzakis: I used to spam in world chat how bad the story was in last few expansions 1st month, the game is really really bad, it's just dungeon raids game with a city hub
BenjaminHarkon: I've recently come back to Elder Scrolls Online as well as Star Wars The Old Republic. These two MMO's aren't perfect, but the story telling is amazing, compared to WoW it is genuinely refreshing.
The stories implement the player in a meaningful way, we are offered choices and depending on our choices, the stories change. It isn't always about the next world-ending threat, it isn't about uniting and befriending every faction, no. In these MMO's the story telling is much more grounded, the stakes are realistic and the players are impactful, not just another irrelevant "champion" to do other's dirty work and then be forgotten. We actually have an impact on our own stories. Imagine that.
