Players from the past have become developers and game designers, building exactly what the community wanted. (Yes, of course the owners made money from it, but for most of us that was not the most important aspect.)

Four years ago when I started playing, it was a default Classic server with around 600–800 players online, a few additions, and limited quality‑of‑life features. But over these four years, we have received incredible expansions, improvements, and changes, and the population has grown to 50,000 players online across all servers.

We have met many new people, made friends, and some have even found their first love. That is what an MMO should truly be about.

Blizzard has definitely lost the soul of the original game. First and foremost, it is Warcraft — a game where you fight for your life — and it should certainly not be resembling The Sims with its building mechanics or Pokémon‑style gameplay.

davidfunk6802: the older generation is fine with the classic model. IF it never ends and we dont lose anything then we will keep playing it's not hard to understand. thats why turtle wow did so well.

arxs33: Here is an idea: WoW 2.0. But this time, do not go into route where game is updated "vertically" trough expansions, instead slowly update game "horizontally" and organically trough patches which slowly add content as story progresses. Focus on the RPG elements, no flying mounts, no teleports, add survival mechanics and make it a true RPG game with open world which stays relevant all the time. Ill explain how to do this. Get rid of the character leveling concept all together and instead make it to be all about leveling skills that you plan to use while skills slowly deteriorate if you dont use them. This way any character can be anything they train to be. Get rid of the concept that bosses drop actual gear pieces and make it so that bosses and mobs drop materials which can be used to craft armour and weapons with specific stats etc. And those gear pieces also have limited number of uses untill enchantments wear off so that you gotta farm again if you need new pieces with those stats. This way all content is relevant all the time.

chrisclement5091: Yes, it is. Classic WoW is going strong so many years later. The present version of the game is just so bad. So...so bad. I'm legit afraid of a classic plus because i dont trust them to do it right.
