CarpalPants: best thing is you can take a 5 year break in osrs and come back at the same level you were when you left. Can continuously just make bits and bits of progress throughout your entire life
geoffshaw2775: These WoW players starting their OSRS adventures are among my favorite content. I can't get enough of it. I'm so happy more people are trying out my favorite MMO.
TrampyPulsar: Its easy: When you progress in OSRS, you keep that progression. In WOW you can play for months, but then everything you worked for is reset in a single patch.
MaikeruRS: This video was really well put together. Good job
I've personally been loving watching these wow players and streamers I've watched my whole life like soda try out the game i love haha
PlaySwag: As it turns out, WoW was the WoW killer all along.
Hananniee: the losers who can only get 5 bucks gang rise up
Protomethau: From my own experience I feel like a lot of WoW players (not talking about any e-celeb in particular) come to OSRS with the wrong mindset. They are expecting to tackle the game like any other theme park MMO that demands full attention at any given time, instead, its sandbox-like nature favors a more balanced playstyle where there are lulls in which you can chill out while you do other things (skilling, afk combat training, etc) and moments that are more intense/"rewarding" (Bossing, questing, pvping, multiskilling). Finding the balance of when and where to do these activities is IMO what determines someone's ability to fully enjoy or appreciate the game.
For me, I have the dubious privilege of being able to play(afk) this game while I work. And I can focus on the more intense tasks in my free time which makes the grindy parts pass by really quickly and I get to appreciate the game a lot more.
jlolo33321: I remember playing runescape as a kid and everyone who played WoW told me that runescape was dumb and had terrible graphics..oh how times have changed
unprofessionaltrader6743: Osrs has a honeymoon phase. Early on the gains are quick, the early-mid level quests they can do pretty quickly. But there will be a point in which they hit the “grind” phase, where they will need to grind weeks on weeks or months to get to the next tier. Once they get to the grind phase is when we’ll see what they really think
ShypaxGaming: Honestly, as a former pro WoW player and avid runescape player over the last 20 years, runescape just never gets boring - when they launched the 07 servers it was perfect, the nostalgia of childhood with the advancement of game design today - also OSRS is player voted, content dont enter unless we say so - yes there will be minor changes, but major content is always voted on - and it dosnt matter what skill level you want to apply, you wanna go around bonk cows and chickens , you can do that - if you want to kill a level 1000 boss that can instant kill you 3 different ways if you step wrong, you can do that .
OSRS is the superior MMO over WoW - and thats coming from someone that in WOTLK had 700 days played on his druid .
sarphog: This is the only damn video I've seen that actually manages to address the issue WoW actually has, and why just feels better to so many people. Timegating and seasonality indeed
zometthecomet: Came here to see all the OSRS players say we told you so
doubleshine: Good to see many hopping over and i'm especially curious what the staying power will be when the more deep grinds actually start to happen, especially by streamers. WoW is insanely seasonal right now so it's not too surprising to see so many hop onto a trend, and I hope a lot of them come back for Leagues.
regista4: I stopped playing RS2 in about 2007 when I discovered Guild Wars, then moved onto GW2 (I was one of the kids whose parents refused to pay for WoW). I tried returning a few times to what became RS3 but found it too overwhelming to return to. I looked back on RS fondly as the MMO I played as a kid because it was easy to access but that I'd moved on from once I found "better" games.
That was until I finally decided to give OSRS a try in 2023 and I returned with far more experience of other games and a fresh perspective. The nostalgia hooked me initially but then I remembered the insane quality of the quests, the way all the skills interact, the way requirements, rewards and content unlocks overlap to give you those Metroidvania style "this changes everything" moments. And I've barely even scratched the surface of all the new PvM that's been added since Old School started.
Andrew Gower and his brothers really did catch lightning in a bottle with the original game. Old School still feels like a minor miracle in how they've been able to create a fork in the road which stays true to the game's roots while continuously adding fresh content that regularly pushes the boundaries of the game's systems and mechanics without invalidating most of the existing content.
qsxmirage7274: Can't wait till the others get along further like Karadus has. He's got a year head start on the rest of them and his channel has been one of my favorites!
9gag1992: Welcome noobs. Don't let people trim your armour. Hope you enjoy the game
AlienFoodage: As someone who started and stayed on Runescape/OSRS, but played WoW on and off on the side, this definitely hit the nail on the head as to why I always stayed on OSRS but failed to stay on WoW. Mainly the deterioration of previously prized items becoming worthless and also transmog. I hated seeing someone look insanely cool, then realising it wasn't infact what they were actually equipped with. Thanks for the great video!
kipo8454: Bro the Runescape 3 staff needs to see this. Their quests are actual cinema with voice acting and such but they became jagex's retail wow so it's beauty all means nothing...
AnimeTopScholar: One of the things I like about all these WoW players trying out OSRS is how they give a different point of view to how content is experienced and information is portrayed in game. For most of us veterans there's so much stuff in OSRS that we just know because we've played it for years and years and watched the game grow. So it can often times be hard to really understand what it's like coming in as someone who actually doesn't know anything about Runescape. And I especially like seeing Madseason go through the quests in the game completely blind. It brings me back to when I first discovered Runescape in the early 2000s and had absolutely no idea how anything works. And I also have to give him props that he has decided to stick with that, cause my child self went to see if there were guides or any help at all online as soon as I got stuck on something lol
Anyways, great video as always!
MintzyIRL: It's Good to see people try out and enjoy osrs because blizzard has taken that joy away from alot of them.
sohctony: My absolute favorite thing about OSRS is you can set your own arbitrary goals, there's no pressure to play any specific way.
SagesRS: Fantastic video! As a lifelong RS player, this was really insightful into the mind of a WoW head
ragondo1: I quit my job to play OSRS, thats how good it is!
ProtOTyrion: I play both but now only old school runescape
thundrwaffle: I wouldn't say they're switching, just trying it out
