Shopping CartChuckyG0: My reason for quitting was massive FOMO, i couldnt take it anymore, this pressure that i have to play, because i wont get something that can be not available anymore
Titan.Fox56: After playing for 20 yrs I have officially hung up my WoW boots, the game has become so convoluted that everything now is "Rush, rush rush rush rush" no one cares about exploring, no one cares about the adventure anymore, zones of previous expansions DEAD and useless. I've enjoyed my time playing WoW but after 20 yrs of it I grew out of it, I no longer enjoy logging in, everything now just feels like a chore to do. Plus there's so many other games that are in my opinion so much more interesting to play than spending any time playing WoW nowadays.
Anyways to anyone that still plays and enjoys WoW I'm happy for you this is from a 20 yr WoW vet, just play what makes you happy. I will not talk negatively about WoW sense a lot of people already do(and honestly thats with every game nowadays) because there's isn't any reason to do so. All I will say is if you're having fun keep playing.
itsMiggs: See you on launch
casual_citizen: I played WoW for 12 years, been playing GW2 for 9 years. It took some time to adjust to a new mmorpg, and I didn't really take the game seriously until I had been playing for 3-4 years. I just logged in, did some daily fractals (heroic dungeons), killed some open world bosses, and had fun talking with random people in the beginning. And there were periods I didn't touch the game at all for a few weeks or few months. But the pleasant change was when ever I came back, nothing I had done previously was a waste of time. I could continue where I left off and progressively got closer to getting the best armor and weapon sets. Once I had it, I had it permanently. No resets. Even the smallest investments of my time yielded me some value in the game. But for the last 5-6 years it's been my main game and I am as excited to play it as I used to be playing WoW from Vanilla > MoP (after that I lost all interest). If you are considering playing GW2 now but think you're late to the party? You're not. This is the best time to start playing as it's never been better. And another thing I love about it is how no content becomes irrelevant. WoW left a trail of abandoned expansions and nostalgia behind it. GW2 keeps all content as relative as it was when it released.
adamgroszkiewicz814: OG player herre, started in Vanilla retail and ended up quitting in Wrath. Did runs on various P servers and was all about the Classic release, then did another run in 2023. Frankly the world is fine but the player community is horrid. Its all stats, meters, optimization, etc. The problem is that the game has been fully solved.
As for retail itself, its been trash for a decade. Subs, micros, boosts, etc. Its just another extractive business model.
ThePict: yeah I havent been subbed for about 6 months but this time it feels different. I dont actually miss it and I havent preordered the expansion which i never thought i would say. The addition of hearth steel was the final nail in the coffin for me but also just the general state of the game and direction that its going in. Just not for me. Classic is fun in theory but then its just nostalgia and when that wears off you realise you are playing a relic which has been min maxed to death . Yeah I think im free boys.
sakal037: World of Warcraft has grown so greedy that it feels less like a legendary realm and more like a golden cage — every corner polished for profit, every choice weighed in coin instead of passion. In Bill Gates eyes, players no longer matter, only the whales who keep the gold flowing and farmers that sell lands to him.
sneezweasel: Congrats on the wedding man!
TheLazySpoiledKitty: Not playing Wow since 6 months or so, had health issues resulting in surgery, and since then I dont want to stress over Fomo in WoW and so I've found my home in OSRS when I can take my time and be free to go at my pace. GL with the wedding and congrats ! :) Marriage is an MMO adventure of its own :D
influx8450: o7
dissidentpriest381: I haven't played wow because 1. I can't afford it. and 2. It got old very quickly. Started Classic anniversary got my warrior to 60. Had to take time away from playing only to come back and feel behind. Was hard finding a guild that suit my schedule and way I wanted to play. On top of that decided to get rank 14 in pvp but that got tiring after I hit rank 10. Started a shaman and got to lvl 10. I haven't touched retail only to log into my characters and see the memories of when I used to play them then log out. I started to play GW2 and got into that. But MMO's in general have me burnt out. I will play RoR, Return of Reckoning if you want a good pvp style game I would try that. But again I am taking a break from mmo's over all. Enjoying some relaxing single player games like Elden Ring lol
Davo332: You forgot to mention that on top of the subscription and cash shop that you actually need to BUY the latest expansion as well. Otherwise you are just stuck playing outdated content. Great value for money that is.
Nylereia: return to wow in 2026 because your WoW content is giga
AmorphisBob: WoW doesn't double dip in monetization, they triple dip, because not only do they charge a subscription fee and have microtransactions, but they also charge the price of a full AAA game for expansions which they release every couple years.
I have an overdeveloped loathing for World of Warcraft. Not that it's unjustified but it requires explanation as to why I hate the game more than the long time players that have been screwed over by Blizzard again and again. I was a SWG player and was in an amazing guild but one by one they all left for WoW. Because I was so bitter, instead of going to Wow, I tried CoH and found a great supergroup there but again one by one they all left for WoW. It happened again and again with AoC, SWTOR, and Rift. By the time my searing hatred for WoW had subsided it was the beginning of the Legion expansion and so I tried it and found a fun guild and spent a couple good years with them. Then when BFA and Shadowlands came around and one by one all my guildmates left to play other games all I could do was laugh. Then I went to GW2 because I'm not a weeb.
In all that time the one lesson that stuck is that they only thing that can kill WoW is Blizzard's own greed and hubris. I thought they'd have learned their lesson with the Shadowlands mass exodus but clearly they have not.
The funniest part is that now I'm on fan servers of SWG (Legends) and CoH (Homecoming) which feel more alive than Wow has in years.
FenrirFrostborn: I quit as well. I canceled my sub and refunded the Midnight prepurchase. I'll not give a single dollar more to these political activist shite eaters. They can't write a good story and they can't create any meaningful content. Microsoft is in the process of turning WoW into a social media platform that they can over monetize.
Blizzard has to do what microsoft wants because at the end of the day they are owned by them.
howardstai6269: I cancelled last April after carrying a sub since BC. The hamster wheel wore me out.
eskaban_edits: i only play casually for social reasons, but the second i catch wow being unhealthy for me in any way i take distance
gdulheflljasduhdzccvm9926: Bro u gotta try arc raiders im so addicted its insane
dmtenlightenment: I can't believe you quit WOW
TheHitmanCorp: I actually love the ingame shop. I allows blizzard to keep the sub price at 13€ for 20 years now while everything else keeps getting more and more expensive in this world.
Dont forget to see the good sides of things people…
aleksander300: Retail died with Legion. anything past that is a corpse walking tugging at your wallet.
Charlee4459: If they don't shadow-drop the sub, I may be quitting here soon. Too many of my friends are moving on.
davidfence6939: Cancelled retail at the start of Legion. Did Classic and a bit of Classic BC, but quit. Found other hobbies. Camping, backpacking, etc. I want to be debt free, travel, build on my property, etc. The sub isn't much but it added up since Vanilla. Add my second and third accounts from Wrath through WoD, server transfers, faction changes, 2014 Blizzcon, and other cons, I've spent thousands. I was no longer a hardcore raider. My raiding guild whom I competed on Shandris in BC and Wrath was long gone. I met some great people but all gone. I was going through the motions. No longer enjoyed my main on live and Classic, a NE feral druid. I'm glad I moved on. Comes a time to make a change.
Alkoo98: i played since middle of tbc , still played till dragonflight, the game is gettin to woke for me
gdulheflljasduhdzccvm9926: Took way too long u seemed over it after like 3 months
