When WoW Stopped Feeling Like Warcraft

chrisj320ac3: Essentially, WoWs lore got hijacked by someone who didn't get to make the mmo they wanted to, so they stuck themselves to an established game to make it happen once the opportunity presented itself.

Lichdemonz: Thank GOD they kicked Danuser to the curve.

SrLoueiz: wow lore died with the Lich King

Tuberoth: after legion

chrisj320ac3: A lot had to go wrong for things to go this way

denikehi4579: What's that past tense? WOW lore still feels off.

jorbeedorbyday: Kingdoms of Amalur was an absolutely phenomenal game

Felstornn: TWW and Midnight have def felt more like a return to old WoW, but there is still a ways to go, I think the biggest difficulty is that the scale has gotten so huge, and things have changed so much it is impossible to ever return.

I am hoping that the "last titan" we see some sort of "reset" happen, and things are brought back down, like imagine if this "giant cosmic war" that has been brewing happens, and in it's wake is just miniscule groups, which means those powers are still there, but not as extreme as they are now.

Like hey, the legion is still a threat even if sargeras and his cronies are dealt with.

Also them "Retconning" Shadowlands is so good actually, it makes it somehow a decent idea. That the shadowlands were literally just a facade placed by something (Very likely Order) and is not the actual afterlife.

starboy9002: i am getting tired of pretending the burning of teldrassil couldnt have been cool if handled properly just because it was written by The Bad People and i am getting tired of pretending post-shadowlands wow story is good just because it was written by The Good People

jdblackwolf13: Giving too much credit to Denuzer considering Kingdoms of Amalor. Salvatore was the true lore of the game.

TheTick20001: Blizzards stealing ideas from others is not a new phenomenon let's be honest

lbiggy: Steve Denuser's obsession with killing warcraft is such a shame.

revjirhcs: The void is going to fail hard as a villian faction, just name me 3 known villians from this NPC faction with their background story and motivations? Blizzard should have never removed the faction conflict from the game because the best villians were part of the Horde or Alliance at some point this is what builds up good villians like Arthas, Garrosh, Gul'dan, Cho'gall, Illidan ect without the background or faction connection they are just NPC bosses of a raid and nothing more.

SgtTeddybear66: Because WoW became a game about feelings and friendship instead of a game about a world stuck in a cycle of hatred and war. Feelings are fine, but less is more. Modern writers don't know how to write.

Also Blizz keeps killing off Male characters and replacing them with females. Its so blatant and cringe.

1unrealworld: This makes so much sense now. I was following the lore up until battle for Azeroth. I was so excited for a return to the faction warfare and that’s how they framed it. Then out of no where it turned out to be old gods and threw me off and disappointed in the story direction. It’s been hard to follow ever since but I’m glad metzen is back as he’s the original lore master of the game. Maybe the Warcraft fantasy can be saved

baklava4854: more proof that de snuzer is a hack.

Athamos: Time to be honest.

A good Warcraft story doesn't even need to be complex; just put orcs and humans fighting each other, good characters, new Garithos and new Hellscreams... and that will be enough.

No matter how good you think the story is, if it has a whiny cast and a Disney-esque narrative, everything else loses its value.

Devs are making story for themselves and not for the fans.

Stop removing men from the story, its cringe and weak.

goblinounours: It makes so much sense why Steve Danuser left Blizzard without any fanfare in early 2024, without a heartfelt "I really love all of my friends at Blizzard, but I decided to pursue other things etc" (same way Alex Afrasiabi was shadow-removed). He must've

sarah-vc9vh: Cuz for the last 7 years we have been following a depressed guy or an overachieving woman through every zone

aleczero: BFA started strong but quickly got bad. They should've had way more faction war. That would've been a great chance to bring the war back to Warcraft.

kurmatata5426: Modern audience fault.

EradonYT: Amalur was banging though love that game!

spotthespy: I don't know if the Arathi - Erathi connection makes sense, at least from my perspective as a fan of both games. I wonder if the Arathi were actually a Metzen concept, and he's angling for a reset / refresh like Age of Sigmar for warhammer.

notalive_zombie: Didn't we see twitter talking about this like a year ago?

proofofmyexistence: This last expansion, TWW, felt lore-less. Near incomprehensible…

ternel: I dont mind the haronir. There has been a missing link between elves and trolls for a very long time and they fit
