vitod.6740: after wrath it is no longer classic, ive played from classic to wrath and as soon as i hit cata it started feeling overwhelming, MOP has that weird talent tree change.

In MoP, I got my Fel Hound at lvl 15... without doing a single thing except picking flowers.

raventhorX: I feel there can be two major points when the game had drastic changes and there should be a rotation of sorts between those two major points. There may have been an additional third point but I am unsure as I only recently started playing wow again and im playing classic on the anniversary servers. The first is up until cata because cata made drastic changes to the world itself. The second I feel is when they did their first level cap squish because they had to adjust the leveling experience for all the prior exploration zones. This resulted in a slightly different experience than normal and I feel everything beyond that level squish should be retail and maybe you can start referring to anything before cata as being old school or maybe have a different term for things between cata and that first level squish.

Kelmorcellus: As for when it stops being classic (in both respects) well technically it's the launch of the burning crusade. Which implemented flying mounts which fundamentally changed the game as well as both sides having horde and shaman. I find that divide being critical in the pillar that supports classics difference.

Dolthra: People were asking for a return to vanilla as far back as Wrath (maybe even a bit in TBC), so I'm not sure that's the best metric.
