We Played WoWs Rebuilt Level 180 New Player Experience

Fantic1980: If I was a new player and I started in Dragonflight, I'd want to quit too. Blizzard is so obsessed with wanting everyone to get to end game (where maybe 5% of the content is) they want you to skip the other 95% to get there.

Linear, self-contained stories for the older expansions, with follower dungeons and story-mode raids, so that we can EXPERIENCE through our characters the entire storylines of TBC, Wrath, Legion and others. They could lure us single-player game enjoyers in and drink up our subscription money for months if not years!

loftyravengirl: We realllllllly need a heroic world tier, for leveling and max level. And can we still access the full campaign of The War Within if we want to quest through it?

codipherus66: Blizzard - PLEASE do a recap story with every expansion for leveling. And Story mode / Followers, for every old raid and dungeon. Its very good.

PerciVN: In classic, at low level, you started with clearing out wildlife for the locals, fighting some bandits, exploring a mine. You progressed to the point of being a world-saving champion, it wasn't automatically assumed. Sorry if this has been said a ton of times already, but I just see blizzard starting players out with saving one of the most powerful dragons in the warcraft universe, and I wonder what happened

SomethingStudio21: end game is blizzard doing this to all expansion and let you choose when you start including the raid quests. Killing the lich king or defeating Illidan as you level up would be very cool.

mjohn3126: Having you start in Dragonflight and not incorporating a story mode of the infinite timeways where the Dark Heart is introduced is kinda weird. We’re also sliding past one important detail, every new player is going to have that big ol level boost when they buy the game. So not a ton of new players will actually level up a fresh toon

Skyelar0512: I really want them to do something similar to ffxiv when it comes to replaying expansions. New Game allows the player to experience to story, learn the lore, but doesn’t actually impact leveling.

I just want to learn the story the way everyone who’s played for a while has

homelesspaladin: The main issue is that this game didn't have a connected narrative until like 5 expansions in. Patches and raids just happened where there was little to no explanation in game to why we were doing anything. It wasn't until the end of MoP when the main current narrative we have now started and they started using the campaign system to frame the story and content for players.

This game is never going to have this magical vanilla leveling experience where it takes you 5 months to reach max level, ever again and that's not the devs fault. There's simply too much stuff in this game to segment leveling like that.

irons1de1: I’m still fairly new to WoW started playing the end of Dragon Flight. It was a daunting prospect to start the game but was worse once hitting max the game doesn’t actually tell you how to play the game and it doesn’t give any indication on how to go about the end content then the flooding of addons and rotations etc certainly made the game

A level of complexity which was overwhelming, also not understanding why I can’t access certain areas because content I hadn’t heard of that needed to be completed and using webpages to figure out how to start the quest lines etc as a new player the best advice get into a guild as soon as possible make friends and ask advice and get help

wafflenatorofficial: Honestly if they want to make Ringing Deeps six quests I won’t be complaining, but there’s some really great lore and story in Hallowfall and Azj’kahet I’d like to see re-included.

Utilitymonk: I don't know if many of yall feel it but do you think Exile's Reach now immediately kills that Horde/Alliance aspect that WoW once offered ever since level 1? At this point it's more about getting into the Worldsoul Saga then developing YOU (the character), which is the history of your race and faction. I feel like that's why the Cataclysm-Legion starting experience, especially for horde, knocked it out of the park for the development of the faction narrative and why new players from Cataclysm-Legion can look back on it in a good way.

Crosswalker.: If I had something to say or decide I would let the players play and level to max in their favourite expansion. You want to lvl from 1 to 80 just in the Vanilla areas? No problem... You want to level to max just in the BC expansion? No problem. You want to level just in the Lich King area? Sure, go on. You create your character, name him and choose in which expansion you wanna start, that would be perfect imo...

askinnakklevaar98: I would love to see them do the story mode raid stuff with wrath and icc show you all the times the lich king shows up in northrend to mock you all the argent dawn and even blade stuff maybe the icc dungeons and then end it with icc would be sick to see

ChrisSmithSmooth: I would really love playing each expansion as a 1-70 experience, good few I've missed over the years and it would be fun to revisit some of the earlier ones that way ^^

spunkin49: the dragonflight campaign sounds like a really good step in the right direction, but with what they did for TWW sounds like a nuclear bandaid thing to get players caught up for midnight.

IMO they are prolly aware of that too, and are prolly going to fix it when midnight is almost done. End of expac is the time to do very big projects for the backend and systems and things so they will prolly address this at the end of midnight, thats just a prediction though.

IMO they could probably also just allow us to get max level from doing whatever campaign we were already doing, cause its only 10 levels so they can certainly adjust some exp values to make it so right at the end of, lets say, dragonflight, boom you are now lvl 80 and in the end game.

kind of a jarring thing to go from this big adventure to a 10 level steam roll, stories require a certain amount of time and you cant really rush it if the story doesnt support that time already.

WoW needs a lot of work for the leveling/ new player experience but this is definitely a step in the right direction

DeltaComp: That’s pretty unfortunate that some of the major moments from War Within are skipped for the sake of time. I also don’t like the Alleria line change at all.

jakublesko4847: Yes, we need MSQ. But we need MSQ from earlier than a Dragonflight.

But we also won’t get it, because the earlier contet is either removed or retconed in some minor way or just irrelevant.

WoW was never build with the same system and thought as FFXIV, up to Endwalker let’s say, was.

So they would need to revamp an enormous amount of content and stuff to make this actualy work.

But they wont.

yinyatto9911: would be cool if the lorewalking like catch up stories were made part of the leveling so you got a crash course on the important parts of each expansion in chronological order

ArielAriaVT: what baffled me the most was the rewards being a set of ilevel 400 gear, yet the gear you got in the quest rewards themselves during recap were in the upper 500s.

Jeimuzu17: Would be cool if they made an optional quest line that takes you from the original quest line thru all the expansions in a more streamlined way but that doesn't skip anything major just for people who want all the story and lore before hitting current content

stephaniegreshuk8055: That is also assuming the recap even works. I am hard stuck in it cause a cutscene wouldn't trigger, and all I do now is stand at the book in dornogal forever.
