Top 10 WORST Patches in World of Warcraft

kaelmic7476: Nzoth worse than sanctum of dominqtion? No fucking way

Cocoadk: 9.1 is the actual closest point WoW came to dying. I’m not sure how it could only be #4.

valdenn412: Selfie camera and Twitter integration. That patch was a cornerstone of WoW’s history. It’s not about creating a world of mystery with intricate lore and interesting NPC’s anymore. It’s about chasing the meta. Posting your online gaming experience. They cut so much content from that expansion that would have added to the lore, for a selfie camera, Twitter and a boat dock for your garrison. Their efforts, or lack thereof, in the patches since then has been telling.

MrLSD: I have just paused this video.

My guess for the worst will be the selfie camera patch or something in WoD.

Woody9080x: 8.3 definetly wasnt the worst patches since it bring Corruption to the game. Literally the most played seasons that ever happened.

Fseb-uj1ih: 8.3, wasn't a bad patch imo. Corruption effects were fun, broken yes, but fun.

johnj4471: The number of times later things that are called tedious yet people did things in vanilla, tbc, wrath, and mop that were far more tedious is crazy. Calling visions of nzoth tedious is wild compared to other things.

Kiwicrack: When people nowaday ask "was the selfie patch truly that bad?" Or declare "this current patch is THE WORST CONTENT PATCH EVERRRRR!" Please understand, the selfie patch was truly a big bag of fucking nothing.

realnzall: 9.1 should have been higher on the list, probably number 2, or maybe even number 1.

6.1 was seen as a disappointment by the players because it added nothing of note, but people still had hopes that Blizzard could bring it back from the brink, and many people used the downtime to stock up on gold and gets their alts geared. at the end of WoD, I had a dozen alts that all had max level crafted weapons, plus I had 800K gold purely from the mission table. And the patch after, Legion was released which for most people still is among the best expansions ever.

4.3 and 8.3 also had their problems, but unlike 9.1, neither of these released after a content drought that lasted 8 months in one of the worst expansions ever made. Neither of these patches had major content creators VERY publicly announce they were cutting ties with Blizzard over the state of the game and the legal troubles the company was in. Neither of these patches absolutely mangled one of the oldest and most respected characters in the game to the point that they had to put them on ice for 2 expansions. Neither of these patches caused such an uproar in the community that the developers did a complete 180 on their game design, to the point that the developers gave multiple talks during industry conferences about learning from the many mistakes they made during this period. Neither of these patches damaged subscriber numbers so badly that they didn't recover until 2 expansions later. Neither of these patches doubled down on anti-fun design paradigms and unpopular decisions from the start of the expansion. Neither of these patches made me so upset about the state of the game and the actions of the developers that I would literally rather go for a walk than play the game, IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC NO LESS!

scorpiowarrior7841: Not putting 9.1 in top 3 when it almost killed the game is illegal.

duckys_on_quack: Your smoking pure meth if you think n'zoth was worse than korthia that patch was the closest this game has ever been to actually dying

Caladryus: 9.1 at 4th place?? The single patch that actually nearly killed WoW and we still feel the effect of to this day?

Honestly would put that garbage at number 1, as it was actively detrimental to the game, where 6.1 was "just" a big disappointment that added nothing of value

onlyme3: No way they put hour of twilight worse than chains of domination

alexrompen805: At #4, we have the entirety of Shadowlands.... an expansion SO BAD they are now retconning the ENTIRE THING.....

veron4150: Leaving out the whole Shards of Domination System for the 9.1 overview, really?

Darmalarm777: Visions of Nzoth being anywhere close to a worst patches list is hilarious and completely reddit-brained nonsense. Retail is hitting rock bottom levels of novelty/creativity thanks to this mindset. World of cosmetic slop.

argenis9518: Btw don't forget that faces animations with the selfie camera are broken and they are not fixing it

PavelA-x5w: Vision of N'Zoth was a bad patch? Are you some sort of troll or what? It was the best patch in BFA, and the only bad thing about corruptions was that they were added way too late.

Dontrez12: 9.1 should be higher. Recent low point for the game at the same time as high point for FF14.

Saimeren: Whatever patch took away 2 tank specs and 1 dps spec from DK's was the worst patch. That was such amazing gameplay at the time. Loved it. But you know, fun detected. Can't have that, so they got neutered to what DK's are today. What a shame.

MrBurniful: One of my core memories was 8.3, I really enjoyed that patch tbh

psyshadowxx: For people like me who came back to the game partway through 8.3, right after corruption vendor came out, it was the best patch ive ever played. Ive never had more fun in wow before or after and ive played tbc-mop and 8.3-11.2

petterituovinem8412: the first one in the list actually made for players in low pop realms to do some BGs so it wasn't bad. The muh community argument was just BS and still is

itskhro: You either had awful corruption luck, or barely played in 8.3. About a month or so in, everyone in my casual heroic guild (and early mythic) had some reasonable level of corruption, with a couple of exceptionally lucky outliers. Not that it was ever really needed to hit your m reward cap, or to prog HC. Nice right, the power scaling of your character being a luxury and not a requirement? And M in 8.3 was an absolute blast too, the shroud skips from the affix, indestructible tanks, scaling corruption changing pulls week to week, it was just fun. Visions also posed an actual solo-player challenge, sorely missed after the mage tower. Uldum and Vale... Existed, I guess. Not unlike most overworld content.

Most importantly, I didnt feel forced to do anything MUNDANE to gain these powers. I could play and do whatever, and corruption would show up over time, sometimes on the vendor, eventually permanently on the vendor. And Ill say it; Felt quite different from the hoops of brainrot you gotta go through to get keys for delves now, which also are braindead after week 1 in .1 or .2 patches.

thenerdbeast7375: Korthia and the hiatus leading up to it came closer to killing the game than the selfie patch from WoD; yeah patch 6.1 was a nothing sandwich but better to have nothing than outright poison.

txnafish: just wanted to say tysm for always being consistent with these uploads. cant even remember when i first started watching you, must have been in wod, it's crazy how long it's been. they're always great :)

nachos4256: I'm surprised 11.1.5 isn't on here at all. Compared to some of the other patches listed, it should really be up there, considering it didn't add anything of value to the game. 3 events that were staggered thruout the patch, the best of which was the reused horrific visions from BFA. Nightfall was possibly the worst version of the open world events so far, being bugged to hell on release, and Dastardly Duo's being a joke of an "event mode". The only redeeming factor was that we got turbo boost, which even at the time was a very decisive point with how blizzard handled it. So honestly, how it doesn't make it on this video despite being top 5, maybe even top 3 worst patches of all time, is very confusing to me.
