People were gatekeeping the new leveling raid day 1 with the kind of shit we all wanted gone when we asked for vanilla.

1) they have a retail version of the game that will continue to collect new players and squeeze money out of people

2) they have the museum version of the game, a journey spanning 20 years on repeat, over and over and over

3) they have the seasonal/evergreen contradiction, a game that simultaneously has new things (but isn't retail) but is also exactly like classic (classic? ?)

All they want is for you to spend money. Spent money on the wrong game? they win. Spent money on the right game? they win. If you quit, you already spent money, they win. If you stay, you already spent money, they win.

kamiKATZE1337: I think those of us who thought of classic with its original mentality, as in journey over endgame, no mtx like tokens and boost, no elitism etc , and tried to help uphold that spirit of old wow, have peaced out long ago.

I went through the Dark Portal and called it quits because i felt so cheated by Blizz when they started introducing retail garbage like the level boost with ugly looking mounts attached that all of the new boosters that spawned in like a swarm rode on. The mount that made them remove the /spit emote, because people then cared enough about Classic to express their distaste en masse. One Expansion later, the WoW Token came out. People protested. It didn't matter. The quick cash they make from the mtx matters so much more than principles and players.

That's why you don't hear people fight it anymore. The people who are left playing most versions of Classic are all those ok or even happy with Blizz handholding them with overpriced Win buttons, nerfing content into the ground, granting mounts that almost look like old TBC glad mounts with the boost and so on.

Wyrmshield: The reason why people are excited for boosts is exactly because there have been so many versions of vanilla already. That reverence for the journey was held to its highest degree in 2019, season of mastery, hardcore, season of discovery especially, and anniversary. Basically going through the journey every year for 6 years. All of those servers did not come out at once and it was very much not confusing being a player during it. Now that we've done that journey so much, people are excited to try something new and get right to the new stuff
