Shopping CartcraponAsPTULA: I decided to try my hand at healing for the first time this season, so I tried druid. After studying up and practicing unrated, I got called a disgusting retard by a hunter in my second shuffle after explaining I was new to healing, he also told me to give up. I'm 1800 on day 3, still climbing and learning. Don't let the toxic people drag you down, just mute them and move on. The toxic people are the reason ques are 30 minutes for dps, be nice to people!
kentdavidkelly-castleoldskull: Immediately ignoring the top reason is pretty telling.
kaddiloc1: I believe the effects of people being toxic and the frequency of it is really being downplayed here. I know everyone thinks rated is the only way measure a person's skill in PVP also. Some of the best PVP players I have ever met despise arena. The culture around PVP often times is just not welcoming along with the inherent problems with PVP. We also have the problem of random battlegrounds being overrun with 9 to 10 man pre-made groups which should not be allowed in randoms. They are treating them as one-sided rated battlegrounds and it completely destroys the experience for anyone not in that group.
amulrei: These have been core PvP issues for over 10 years. Healers being gods, the gear grind being needlessly long and toxicity going unchecked. It's a problem so old it feels engrained in the game's DNA by now.
Shadows_Edge_artist: Toxicity can't be the problem causing raiding is toxic too?!? great logic. PvP is toxic asf and not fun for learners and casuals. Knowledge gap, gear and toxicity are the issues for me. Why do I want to push through getting farmed and abused in unrated to even get gud?
johnsmith9471: PVP is fun and maybe once every other expansion I’ll push up to 1800. But for casual pvpers it kind of sucks. Regular pvpers have gotten so good that casual players end up spending the entire game at the spirit rezzer. Solo shuffle isn’t so bad, but BGs are rough.
Kamran-xd1: Because pvp is hard for pvers . Especially when you’ve spent a lot of time on the pve and step into pvp for the first time, you suddenly realize you know nothing about the game.
-joe-davidson: Their real reason is because it's harder to defeat another player than to learn the predictable mechanics of a Boss.
ChrisLeeAllison: At this point "beating a dead horse" is an understatement.
Nahn_Shalont: Here's the fix: click the combat log tab and leave it there. When a purple tab pops, right click and close conversation. Easy peace.
GooseComics: I like how you totally negate the first few comments stating that it's negative. You saying that you don't agree to that kind of proves the point that it is a negative experience no?
christophspitzenberger1272: "People are mean" is a valid point.. I played M for almost the entire season (~18 keys) and then quickly farmed Elite in Solo Shuffle (for 3 weeks) and BG Blitz at the end. In the entire M season, I got flamed only once and the rest of the party members immediately had my back.. In BG Blitz, on almost every single loss, sooner or later someone always typed "we're losing because we have no heals" or something similar.. but when you actually looked at the stats, we usually just had no DPS in those rounds.. I only play Solo Shuffle with Silent Shuffle now for good reasons.. which is why I can't really judge the chat there.. I turned it off briefly and was immediately reminded why I use it.. it's definitely a different climate than in PvE content.. even competitive PvE.. it might be the same in other PvP games and PvP players just endure it.. but it is a reason why PvE players don't play it, and it shouldn't always be brushed off with "ah, that's not the issue"..
NovaTerran: Legion pvp stat templates was bis, ilvl gave you minor bonus but everyones stats were roughly where they were supposed to be.
Weslicus: To answer the Reddit post question before I watch the video: For me, it’s because I mainly PvE and once they stopped giving me reasons to PvP, eg. good trinkets or faster set bonus, there is no reason to… so I don’t. It’s the same reason PvPers don’t PvE. There is no reason to. They need to weave the game modes together again like in classic. Make raiders want to do a BG and make Arena guys run a mythic . The game is better when you play all of it.
Weslicus: 5:45 the problem is without pvp trinkets or the boosted ilevel from pvp gear you just explode. They need to delete the pvp set bonus and remove the boosted ilevel on pvp gear. Gear should just be gear and you can get it from wherever you want. (And faster than normal if you do various forms of content. eg. BGs, M , Raids, Arenas, Deleves, etc.)
joshmacfarlane2157: at no point should i ever be in danger of dying to a healer in arena and at no point should healers be able to keep everyone alive indefinetly
paraskamu: Cross-faction battlegrounds. In solo content only allow que as SOLO. Mount rewards for all brackets (custom mount options for achieving pvp goals).
jonathanyo96: I use to only pvp but once it got to the point where every class had some sort of self sustain and abilities outside of cooldowns meant nothing it lost me.
lupy-QwQ: The pvp community in most games I've played is more toxic than any experience I've ever had in PvE. I still do both, but I can acknowledge that 'people are mean' is 100% valid.
Kronosbattlemaps: Until they fix it so I can report someone after they ignore you. I'll come back to pvp. I get abused, then whispered saying how bad I am then ignored immediately so I can't report toxicness. I don't care been abused, but I want to report them.
me-bo8cx: I just love people linking my checkpvp after every shuffle telling me to go off myself. I'll just stick to single player games from now on.
Nikk636: 1 suggestion i could offer is have honor gear be the only pvp gear, since honor is relatively easy to acquire that could help soothe some ppl and rework the mark of honor token. Rename mark of honor to mark of conquest and allow people to buy the transmog, mounts, etc with the tokens assuming they also meet the rating requirements.
antimage797: With mini CC TTS of 'Zenith', 'SHADOWBLADES' i had fun in shuffle as a healer, without it i do not like PVP at all. the addon stopped working and i legit can't heal anymore, didn't even queued up again to check if is back.
Duder70: Regular BGs: Love them, never play them. Next to zero rewards, and I main a healer so I don't get satisfaction from "deleting" low-geared players.
RBGs: Aren't they completely dead now? From past experience, extremely toxic, bad balance, low player pool and it takes for ever to put a group together.
Blitz: Much better than RBGs, I can just queue alone, better rules. I enjoy Blitz but I have to just play them for some casual fun. If you want to take them more seriously, grind rating, improve, progress... its too frustrating. Toxicity, bad balance, some maps are too big for just 8 players, huge issues with MMR.
Arena 2s/3s/Shuffle: The main focus is CC, stopping the enemy players from playing the game, doing damage/healing is secondary. I've tried my best to find a way to enjoy this game mode but its impossible. Why would I spend my time, literally, not able to play the game. 1/3 of your time is spent in CC, 2/3 is spent trying to avoid getting CCed.
Are you ranged? interrupted, spell push back, LoS.
Are you melee? slows roots.
Did you pop CDs? CCed.
Are you a healer just existing? CCed, CCed and then CCed some more.
In general, it simply comes down to this:
PvE (M ) allows me to play the game/my character to its full extent.
PvP, I'm not allowed to play the game.
Suggestion:
Blizzard should add a new unrated arena bracket, call it "EXPERIMENTAL" and let the players know that it will be an unbalanced mess made for testing. Then every week, just throw some stuff on the wall and see what sticks. For example, turn off all CC and see what that does to the gameplay and how players respond to it.
theflyest6595: It’s really the toxicity from WoW lifers, rank 1 players and glads. A ton of elitism. People swear having a R1 title is the equivalent of winning a nba championship
JohnnyCommentWriter: I got my friend into the game for the first time ever this season and he instantly got 2500 in shuffle on disc. Healing is a complete joke in this game, they’re immortal and have the least mechanics unless you play evoker which is why the class feels completely game breaking in your lobby.
happyhippiesurbanfarm: I’m a long time healer, I push title in M , mythic raid, and love solo shuffle. I have definitely received slightly more open toxicity in arena than other game modes. Also had the most PMs telling me to uninstall and play runescape
That being said, I love arena and am constantly trying to get my pve friends to queue up with me.
Instant PvP gear is by far the best idea to help ease their frustrations.
