The Saddest Quest of Classic World of Warcraft

sanremo112: I love the callback in WoD where you can meet young Mankrik and and his Girlfriend in Nagrand.

ladyofthedrgns: One thing that made me give a bittersweet smile was the follow-up quest in Cata. A worried Orc Woman asks you to check in on Mankirk. You can tell she loves and cares for him. She doesn't want to replace his wife.

Mehanlow: We need more nixxiom talks videos

vardrag4064: Where is Mankrik's wife?

daniel88pospa: Fun fact. Twenty years ago, I started playing WoW on an “unofficial” server. A lot of the quests didn’t work or were bugged. And Mankrik’s wife was a living, moving NPC. So the ONLY WAY to complete the quest… was to reduce her HP to 0 and then inspect her body.

Twenty years… millions of quilboars killed, and Mankrik still has no clue. And yes, my main is an Undead warlock.

moarpewpew-r2u: I think Darrowshire is equally sad.

Thanks for this.

MrGoesBoom: You get all emotional about Mankirk and his wife and all they endured and such....but if they were in the internment camps then they were part of the invading armies of the Horde...part of the Horde that slaughtered the Draenai and made roads out of their bones, that razed entire cities and towns as they invaded Azeroth, showing no mercy or quarter to man woman or child, civilian or soldier....kinda dulls the sympathy a bit there.

MrLocurito: then blizzard made their sorrow into heartstone cards where they are pretty much mocked

notsure7060: I have done these quests and i love it that you tell the story in detail ..

Earthstorm84: 'Want to bet I can make a full 16 minutes video out of a random quest from vanilla wow?'

AtomikTurtle: As always, great video!

I really like how you flesh out the story with context from lore.

drx1000: What if we're all wrong about Mankrik though? What if it was he who actually murdered his wife, blamed it on Quillboars, and as a further coverup made you turn over her body to identify her thus contaminating the crime scene with your own DNA and making you the prime suspect?

AiresLA: I don't think there's anything sadder than losing a wife or a kid.

Like, parents are there for half your life, and you know they're gonna go some day. Even if most people don't say it because it's a bit brutal, deep down you are mentally prepared to see them go and move on without them some day.

Your wife and kids, those are the ones who are supposed to be with you until your very last breath. Those are the reason why you were put here on this planet. Despite all the new lore that I'm not really a fan of, I'm glad Mankrik found a new companion recently.

johnrm0766: can't you get banned from wow with those lag reducers?

KushKushBlaze420: meow

sushionaram: And then she has cameo in Shadowlands as Decimator Olgra, plus few in Heartstone

NeilRoy: The saddest quest for me, that literally brought tears to my eyes, was "For Love Eternal", which you get from " Cerellean Whiteclaw" who stands on dock in Auberdine. He wants you to find the spirit of his dead wife and kill her "free her". In the end, you do, and she appears to him, thanking him, but then she vanishes leaving him totally alone without her. This really hits home for me, as I am a widower who misses his wife daily. So moving, and well done. Sadly, it is no longer in the game after Cataclysm.

And I always read the quest text. I will skip over it these days as I have read it all when it first came out, but I definitely read it all if I haven't already.

klasus2344: brilliant video

KieranV93: In case anyone was wondering, quests like THIS are what Retail is missing.

JohnToridas: Back when WOW stories were good

rocksteadyish: Mankrik was a colonizer bro

lcmiracle: Death to the horde

Omerizorman: Wow your video made me Cry more then WoW ever did

Thank you so much Nixxiom
