Whalebelly2239: BDK discord has a mantra of "you should be able to live every hit and DS to recover if you followed the rotation, therefore your talent build should be optimised for damage". This means foregoing stuff like rune tap, red thirst, or gorefiends grasp. I hard to hard argue with our tank to take rune tap on Nexus King because tanks kept dying. Raid is 727 average ilvl, your tank damage doesn't matter brother. Just stay tf alive.

grahamvandyke: Rogue discord is pretty amazing. Also has a bunch of theorycrafters who play at a very high level so they look beyond just sims and stuff.

Odin_All-Father: I have legit been playing this game since beta. 21 years without many breaks. I main a DK, and have been KSM/KSL every single season since they implemented those achievements, along with AOTC every tier as well. I usually play Blood, but have done a few seasons as Frost to avoid burn out as a tank. The DK discord is an absolute cesspool. It is terrible. Ask any sort of valid question and you'll get three morons tripping over themselves to be the first to tell you to Sim yourself and never get any sort of answer or discussion of the question you asked or topic you brought up. It's absolutely worthless. Not every discord is quite that bad, but the DK, Paladin, and Warrior discords are especially terrible.

jbrunson88: I've been playing WoW since around the time a Prot Paladin named Theck was a theorycrafter. He had a whole multi-page document that gave mathematical, in-depth breakdowns on every talent point/talent tier and why it was optimal. I loved it, not for the purpose of min/maxxing the spec, but having an extraordinary analysis of how certain abilities work together and knowing how to play the class the best I could.

Kyrasis' analysis of BDK is very, VERY reminiscent of Theck. He puts in so much work in order to have a deep understanding of the spec and very eloquent in how he shares it in his patch documents. I can't vouch for him enough.

AlexJay95: asking a question in a class discord activates my fight or flight, some mods and people are cool but i have had terrible experiences for very simple yes or no questions met with hostility instead. They are very cliquey and if you arent someone that is normally talking and known people have a very different response for you cough spriest discord cough

rokiyo: "If you're part of the group, then your knowledge and wisdom is accepted" - You only BECOME part of the group by adopting the "correct" knowledge and wisdom. It's not possible to bring new thoughts into such spaces, as the masses of random people trying to climb that discord's social ladder will see you as an opportunity to demonstrate how well they fit into the group. You get flamed by a mob long before any moderator even needs to consider taking action.

thegame4027: It's still the same. Tank Discords are clueless on a whole different level. There is no way these guys actually play at even a remotely high level. The builds are almost always completly wrong for high-level play. On a good day, it's because they just dropped all of the utility for damage talents, and they got somewhat of an "excuse," but more often than not, it's also not the optimal DPS build.

HimWhoRobs: The warlock discord has a channel that is a trap... you speak in it and get instantly perma banned without warning or a way back in.

bambuco2: Guides for tanks and healers have been ass for a while. They're usually written by people that don't actually play the game so you'll get the most basic advice regarding talents and abilities with absolutely no insight into how to hold agro, survive big pulls etc.

A random top 1-5% of that class and role is going to give you better advice

shrinppy: Never had a poor experience in the mistweaver channels in the monk discord. Other discords have been less than awesome, but mistweaver seems to be pretty above and beyond with trying to help people understand and learn an underplayed spec. Not sure what that chatter was referring to tbh.

joshuafurr9439: Look, I only heroic raid and do keys around 13-14, but it learned a long time ago that class guides on the discords and even wowhead are oftentimes outdated or flat out wrong. The only source of truth for me are Warcraft Logs. If you want to be like the best, you need to look up the best. You have to know which ones to filter out because maybe they got PI 4x or something, but stats and numbers don't lie. Many classes guides are also written around beta tuning or very early in the season. Then Blizzard will do some tuning here and there and all of a sudden the guide is incorrect and it just doesn't get updated.

ATG-Athletics: The mods in class discords are toxic scum. You ask a question, and 9/10 times they just talk to you in a very dismissive condescending tone. Discouraging, they are all idiots.

itskhro: A couple of years ago I got jumped in the balance discord for asking if I really should sim my statweight still. IT SAID TO DO SO ON THE WOWHEAD GUIDE. They shifted their shittalking to the guide when I linked that part. Just unbelievable levels of brainpower.
