Splits Are Unavoidable In World of Warcraft Raiding

thomas1644: Personally, I dont think RWF guilds even want blizzard to fix splits. They like being able to spend billions of gold to give themselves a big gearing advantage over everyone else.

thomas1644: I see two possible solutions.

1. Untradeable personal loot. If you cant trade loot, obviously makes splits impossible. However, I'm sure high level guilds would still do multiple runs to try to get high rolls of loot on week 1, but it would solve the splits problem for most players.

2. Deterministic currency system. IE, you get currency from killing bosses and can directly trade for your choice of loot. This is the only way to completely get rid of splits for everyone, but it is also the most boring option. Everyone would take the exact same loot. Personally, I think the positives of this outweigh the negatives (everyone always ends up with the same gear anyway - who cares if it happens 3 weeks earlier?)

lazarus7860: dont really care about splits, BUT if Blizzard wanted to kill them then disable trading raid gear for the first 4 weeks of the raid. But blizz wont do that... again its whatever ill just raid with a raid team with no splits.

tommythecat10: jeath had a somewhat good solution he mentioned a while back: Mythic difficulty comes out 2 weeks before other difficulties. It doesnt fully solve the problem as guilds still progging after 2 weeks are motivated to split, but the reward is far less as people are geared from keys, delves and the mythic bosses they have managed to kill, so desired HC raid gear is now just cantrips and trinkets.

Of course, the biggest downside is that all the non mythic raiders feel extremely left out. For this reason, Jeath said he didnt think this was in any way feasible. But if splits in the raiding scene is becoming a big problem, this is something that actually solves it.

Darkaleas: They need a system that drops 2 pools, one with common traidable items and one with rare drops charakter bound. Making funneling hear pretty random.

erick4923: What if we had personal loot until the first mythic clear of the raid worldwide? Then master looter went in effect reset afterwards?

booksnbooze7796: As long as there is a soft cap on character progression (where realistically you cant gain much power if any) then splits will exist. If you introduced AP again, then that naturally decentralizes splits as any time NOT progressing your MC lowers their power potential. But, of course, the biggest issue with AP is alts and is the reason they removed it in the first place.

patrick2657: Here is an idea that doesn't eliminate splits but at least probably makes them better(maybe not for RWF since less community involvement needed). Aside from Mythic difficulty, reset the raid loot lockout once you kill the last boss so you can do full clears with the same characters. Hero track gear is already completely farmable in m so if mythic raid guilds want to run multiple heroic clears instead of m more power to them.

SerGlushko: Make raids harder and less splittable. The mythic splits fiasco this season was only possible because mythic Chimaerus and most of the Spire bosses were piss easy (on top of them being separate lockouts)

"OK, guys, GJ on the HoF, re-log, gotta do this couple more times"

sebastiantherrien3166: The solution of only raiding on 1 character a week would genuinely be so terrible for the game. If that is the only solution (I'm sure it's not) leaving splits as is is 100% the right call

ronnyalv: The solution, albeit not a reasonable one, would make it so that gear itself does not contain power and is only used for cosmetic purposes and the power itself is just on the character itself and so the only thing to do is at that point a RWF that is purely skill level

luisdj86: Yeah but you can mitigate a LOT of this.

Just make sure that the time that you can trade loot doesn't stop when you log off with the item. It will break how it is done today.

shawnc292: What if it was a 4 characters per week per warband limit? Would that really effect a lot of players?

Taytorthot: Can only speak as someone who at this point has quit WoW cause of this. I have a limited time. I was roughly able to fit in 9 to 12 hours a week of game time for raiding with keys on the weekend.

Even non HoF guilds are wanting people to run splits and run an extra day or two at the start of a raid for it. And like sorry i just can't do that. And so as someone who plays at a lower HoF skill level I have to play with a late CE guild (Which is misarable cause i'm waiting for 1/2 the team to pick up and finish the fight when i'm done in half the prog time), or somehow find time as someone who works a full time job, to fit in those extra hours at the start of a raid.

Shit sucks.

endgame_real: I dont think Blizz could do anything if they wanted to tbh

If they rolled out fucking ID verification and it was one account per lockout, guilds down to Rank 450 would have an inhouse fake id plug within 3 months

Riokaii: once again, there is a solution, max jsut refuses to watch the video

WTF2334: love you max
