Shopping CartDurkMcGerk: I've paid many hundreds of dollars to play and at this point I wouldn't feel even a tiny bit of remorse playing a local client/server.
mehomuiki3886: Legally, wow is correct, morally, turtle is right and i have absolute no remorse playing it
League8Of8Legends: This actually makes me wanna play TurtleWow
Se1404A: Mr. Season, I just wanted to thank you. Your videos brought comfort to me during very hard times. They helped me to fall asleep when nothing else worked. Take care man
Davivd2: Blizzards track record with modders is atrocious. They could have had DOTA, tried to crush it, and lost it completely. Did they learn from that experience? Nope. Not one bit. Here they are, presented with the same opportunity, and trying to crush it. Only to lose money, and the respect of their very same audience in the process. Blizzard is like a parent that would rather watch their child die under their own care, than let that child thrive under someone else's care.
clancamper: What is actually wild is that Blizzard flat out refuses to give us what we want, and will rather ruin their own services and sue those who let us play the game the way that we want.
ginx2666: Statistics show that whenever Blizzard learns of a private server, 41% more breast milk gets stolen in their HQ and an intern gets struggle-snuggled by a Blizzard manager. Maybe they should look into that, what a weird coincidence...
noname-gp6hk: I am having more fun playing twow than I have had in years playing blizzard wow. I will keep playing until the servers close. Blizzard /Microsoft can't take these memories away from me. Suck it, blizzard.
HDevezas: I literally don't care what happens. I will continue to play Turtle WoW until it dies, and when it dies I will find a way to play it singleplayer. It's the best wow experience available.
benjaminbullock8817: Turtle WoW has been my retreat from retail and classic for almost 5 years now. Its not perfect, probably corrupt, BUT its the best server community experience I've ever had. The vast majority of the "plus" material is incredibly well thought out and honestly even the bugs are a part of the fun of private servers just like they were back in vanilla days. My favorite was Thaddeus being busted for a couple weeks and we had to summon a GM to kill him who also turned us all into cats just for fun. Developers constantly fix these bugs with weekly changelogs and bug fixes. Chats and gold buying are heavily policed. Some people don't like that, but at the end of the day I appreciate the stability it brings to the server population. Short story long, Twow is an incredible experience and the fact we're playing now in defiance of Blizzard and Microsoft makes it even cooler imo.
Thunderharald: Such shame, turtle wow is what classic should have been
kaizen9406: I only started playing turtle WOW when they tried to shut it down, didn't even know of it before
FocusFactor99: Just joined Turtle Wow, learned about it via the lawsuit (free advertisement, thanks Blizzard!). It's free so who cares if they delete the server months from now or whenever it happens. I came into it blind without looking into what they changed and added, but the QOL in the game has far exceeded my expectations. There is a zero percent chance Blizzard can make their "classic " this good so I recommend joining the fun while it lasts.
-ShiraZen-: Lots of the people Blizzard is targetting aren't even Turtle 'staff' and are just independent addon devs or random community members. It's pretty wild.
Turtle is easily the best online community I've ever been a part of. I've played for years and I've met so many people from there IRL. That realm has changed my life.
The amount of community support on Turtle is unrivaled. The RP scene is directly aided by the team repeatedly and in amazing ways. For example there's a player run Faire that occurs every month and the devs go out of their way to create an entire faire ground with unique booths for all the players who are participating and organizing.
I myself have hosted events like this very frequently. I have a video gushing about the staff's amazing work on the one that happened last Sunday.
Legally Blizzard is in the right. But they will NEVER be able to create such a unique, positive, fulfilling, and stable experience like Turtle has. I feel bad for anyone who takes a hard stance against Turtle simply because it's a private realm. We will never capture lightning in a bottle like this again.
LoganChristianson: It's perfectly within Blizzard's rights to sue these private servers, and it's, from an intellectual property perspective, a bit necessary to maintain rights.
But there's also tons of other ways to maintain IP rights without personally suing individuals and continuing to tarnish their public perception, which TurtleWow outlined. But Blizzard is a creative shell of what is used to be. Today, it's no better than Ubishit or EA.
JoeSurprentis: Blizzard doesnt go after bots and gold sellers because its probably them doing it
xforby8185: Last time I was this early, I was stuck in the log in screen.
MistahBryan: The majority of Turtle WoW players I've spoken to: WON'T go back to Blizzard, so it's a Lose / Lose situation for Blizzard.
Uhha-kilaa: At this point I don't even want Blizzard to do a Classic for us. I want these community driven private servers to make home in Russia and actually enjoy content. Blizzard is over for me. It's a shame.
WiseWords42: LOL Blizzard out here making sure NOBODY has fun with their ip. They've ran the game into the ground themselves and want to make sure anyone having fun in wow cant
rpgshadowmorn2683: I think the main issue with claiming “fan mod” is that they do have microtransactions even though they are cosmetic.
For example EA actually can and will shut you down for sims paid mods.
So even though i am on turtles side… just a bad argument from them to justify is all.
((EDIT))
Just to clarify, I support turtle because I fucking loath blizzard as a company... I think profiting is a mistake many private servers make whether me or anyone else cares or not... because it's up to the company to decide if that is okay or not legally with their product... hints why i mentioned EA and the Sims 4 thing.
0ne0fmany: Well I can safely say one thing:
Shutting them down will not make players love nor support Blizzard more.
Quite the opposite, as a matter of fact.
obviouslymikey9389: I will never understand why Blizzard doesn't just sell licenses to private servers and make an extra subscription to play on private servers. Instead of removing ways for people to play the game in ways they want, they could make money of it while putting basically no work in. And for servers with in-game shops, they just take a cut of the earnings.
OnlyRoke: The most cynical fucking thing is that they wanna shut down a game whose player base will NEVER drop another dime into their laps, because blizzard had its chance and even then these people expect that a player base would then go to the company that murdered the game they were just playing.
It's just pure spite, not even monetary greed.
slavsthetics2447: Turtle WoW devs: Let's give players what they deserve and let them enjoy and have fun.
Blizzard: Let's shut them down, steal their content, refuse to give players what they want for decades now and give player base NOTHING.
