Deeprun Tram is Aimed the Wrong Way World of Warcraft Classic

Lucyhehe_: lining up the models make these videos so interesting

prz9ano5: after all these years of riding the Tram, I always thought the middle was a random aquarium of some sort, and never really gave it much thought. After this video, a small part of me feels a resolved satisfaction. Thanks again 720! Love these.

PreBCFan1: So to clarify

1. Model was going lengthwise Gnomeregan <-> Ironforge

2. Model was going stormwind <-> Ironforge but length unchanged but now water in between for planed zone reference

3. Map was changed/Zone in between IF/SW never happened and there was flat land instead of water now compared to concept art. So we got this version of deeprun Tram. But nice findings. Source: trust me bro, but nah, basicly I reserach wow and wow history including alpha wow since TBC came out with also the age of this YT account as reference. I don't know everything and I believe nobody ever will, but here the facts are kinda well known and can be tracked through development builds

krasimirgedzhov8942: You can see why the devs shortened it - for a more digestible experience. If it were the actual length you would have to wait 3x or 4x more, and while it may seem immersive, it would be too much for most people.

And considering in-lore how it would be built, a direct line would pass through lava zones, like Searing Gorge I imagine the engineers wouldn't want to pass through those, so they probably circumvented that piece of land altogether and made a detour below the sea, which makes the underwater portion make sense. Even considering that later expansions introduce naga zones to the west of Ironforge and Stormwind, you can even explain the naga sea witch. They probably weren't planning for such continuity, but it turned out neat.

ArkOvu: For a while, I couldn’t find any content like this, until recently. I’m very happy to see that you’ve been doing these videos for so long. It gives me plenty to watch

cardonish: Been loving these videos, and funny coincidence; I was just on the tram yesterday and as I passed the underwater section I thought to myself, 720 Zone should really do a video on the tram, and basically asked all the questions you answered here

raiden72: This totally explains why darnassus seems so disconnected and hard to reach from the other alliance cities!!! Maybe they wanted to make it harder for the night elves to see the humans at first

D3Z3R7: Knowing that it was meant to go to Darnassus makes the fact that the shipwrecks are specifically Night Elven very cool. You can handwave that there was always supposed to be a sea north of SW, or that it's an underground ocean, but the shipwrecks are special. Despite the repurposing, the evidence of its true origin, from before we even saw it for the first time, remains. I'll think about that every time now.

MagusFlorren: Nice! The Ironforge model looks really beautiful and elegant.

Also it’s wild to me that the tram only covers the distance of like one zone.

It feels like it goes SO FAST and the track looks very lengthy.

This video really changes my perspective on the tram. Cool stuff.

Malikor: It would also explain why the tram goes through the ocean.

Also, in alpha, the IF tram was also supposed to be connected to Gnomeregan, before they decided it was imbalanced for Alliance to have more capital cities

josephtrahan8045: Thank you for the answers to the questions. I’ve been asking for 20 years now!

ricky_pigeon: I played official WoW on day 1 but after some time i heard about private servers, so me and my brother who were young teens at the time set one up just to mess around.

We went on the tram, looking out to the Sea area as you do, Then the giant sea monster came out the wall and killed us on the tram. It was like the maze game jump scare.

ajudgementalcat: Coolest video yet! A video dedicated to Old Ironforge would be dope

moejellini: Can you do Hyjal next or inside the caverns of time

SONSC: Hey great video!

PSA on the Darnassus connection, there's no evidence for the Tram being planned to connect to it. It's very likely just conjecture from players that has been repeated for so long it's accepted as a fact.

John Staats has been asked about it in two reddit QA's, here's what he said about it in one of them.

John Staats: But I can tell you that the deep run tram was never supposed to go to Darnasus. Aaron Keller created it, and he added the underwater section to break up the dark, fairly boring ride. It’s actually not underwater, those are just props and flying fish in blue fog.. It’s all hocus-pocus. ;)

Shokisan1: Awesome video. Always liked how mysterious the water section was.

kekeke6224: Tram going from SW to Darnassus would be pretty cool

larzancover: During the 20 years I've played WoW I've actually never questioned the fact that the Deeprun Tram runs across the ocean floor.. I think I recall someone saying the body of water must be the Loch because of Nessy, and I just took it at face value. I feel dumb now.

Interesting video as always, Jeff!

BenDeRover80: Fun video! But you forgot to mention something: how much faster the tram is compared to the flightpath. I actually clocked this since my buddy was sure it was faster to fly. Clocked from IF bank to SW bank, included mounting up and running to the tram/flightmasters:

By gryphon: 5min5sec, by tram: 3min1sec

This was mounted on epic mount with all 3 speed enhancers.

Time is money, friend!

Houkai1: I know this is all age-old info, but it really scratches my curiosity and nostalgia itch. Keep up the good work!

DJSLANKMAN: Should make some alpha wow videos. I cant get enough of them, so many cool secrets to it. Keep on making classic videos though!

piggdsbest333: The first times playing this game was best time on earth back then. I dont play anymore I get bored with all the grinding and keeping up but memories of the early game will stay forever.

catsalad2427: This would be great if we could have more trams instead of Gryphons. Mountain up, mountain down, tunnels and the possibility to jump out. Relax and listen to music.

SeriousBons: I dont know, deeprun tram feels somithing dug by dwarves and engineered by gnomes, it would feel weird to have it built for seomeone else entirely.

autismandy3050: All the best ERP sessions were in the tunnel.

Good times.

osmotic9463: wow the tram needs to be like 3x longer that would honestly be fine with me if the train took longer and there was another 2 window sections

Faefaxi: Ive wondered this for yesrs
