kubi0461: “Largest mistakes they’ve made in years”… wow that’s quite a very high bar.
felbudprotocol: Also, no one talks about how Blizzard’s customer support has been getting worse over time — to the point where it’s basically a fake support system now. They pretend to offer help, but all they do is send template replies to close your tickets with generic article links. Even when you provide specific information to ask for help, they clearly don’t read it. It feels like they’ve completely given up on actually assisting players but still want to fake they have a support tool.
Lightworks22: The social media team was doing such a great job :<
kinbailey310: Thats the thing with corporations. They never can get enough money and every year they think of new ways to cut back until theres nothing recognizable left.
CuicaLunar: Microsoft, you were supposed to save WoW (by letting the teams cook), not speed up it's demise...
andrewwolverton3762: Anyone else remember when you could petition a GM, in game, and 30 minutes later you were chatting with someone who not only listened, but would often fix problems right then and there? It was another world.
phantomlumina8686: “Many companies forget what it means to make great products. After initial success, sales and marketing people take over and the product people eventually make their way out.”
— Steve Jobs
Jdk9555: It just got outsourced to India. Tons of other companies do the same and the result is horrendous.
ijdragonfly: Time and time again, corporations slaughter the golden goose. They can have a happy community, a solid plan, high reviews, and steady growth... but if the shareholders can't afford a new yacht fast enough, they'll burn it all to the ground. It's obscene.
kellynine7438: When the Microsoft sale was announced, the internet was full of people celebrating that this would save WoW. Those of us who pointed out that industry consolidation never ends well for consumers were mocked and ridiculed. And here we are. Again.
Industry consolidation NEVER goes well for conumers.
urogoth: Moral of the story is, if your games developers get bought out, 100% of the time has shown it's start packing up your fandom and move on to some other game.
Roamingfirebat: damn ill miss the scocial media team. cant have nice things in this timeline i sware
usosaito.namahage: I feel most companies would benefit far more from laying off corporate executives instead of the workers that actually do the work.
dethsightgaming: i'm honestly amazed all social media for all games companies isn't just AI slop at this point. why pay living people to do what a buffed chatGPT can do?
fuck this timeline, i swear.
miggs8: God, I forgot how we all got catfished by that BFA cinematic
DeadKel-e2j: In all of this narrative, let's just also remind everyone else that they spent 75 billion to acquire Activision Blizzard. But somehow now they can't afford to keep the staff and keep the projects going? This is what happens when you let profit be the only possible motive. I'm so sick of my favorite things. My loves my passions being destroyed by people who can't have enough f****
ElliedoGaming: I want to point out because, I work in advertising, that when you outsource all of your social media like this there is no inside man looking at the things we say in response. They will look at view count and clicks, numbers, and possibly hide bad-for-business comments. So say goodbye to open communication to the company
mourdinmourdin: An Indian Ad agency from Mumbai has taken over this.
purple4395: I just allways don't understand the corporate incompetence in these decisions. It's allways the same in that they even choose the option that most certainly won't make them more money.
Like, maybe can they save 500k $ or something in a year with this. But how many potential customers do you lose like this?
FirelordFlamethrower: Damn, I really loved WoW shorts in YT. They were hilarious. Huge L for Blizzard.
lexdemonica: Replaced a social team with a quote calendar from Wish.
Incognitiv: I have a feeling that it's not even an agency but some ai algorithm that just checks the picture and spits out a description to given image.
cvanims: When the social media team started cooking, I was sharing their content with EVERYONE -- even friends that didn't play Warcraft. Now, the posts are rarely engaging enough for me to even give them a shot.
joseguilherme9017: You don't have IA promoting WoW in the US, but in Blizzard Brazil, there's no team anymore, just a single employee.
All their posts are translated by IA, there's no official news...
I know Brazil is not a giant market for Warcraft, but if it happens here, it can happen anywhere, it's just company politics slowly changing.
llanark: Hearthstone has descended down the same shithole. Justice for ridiculoushat! Tone deaf social media is par for the course
Dominian1: That's just AI.
ChatGPT has been making a ton of mistakes recently. Probably overloaded only doing superficial scans now. Absolute dog-shit world we are getting into.
EdgeDaddyMoist: Social media team was the only reason I kept up with WoW or cared. Kept me actually looking into upcoming features myself while not playing.
