splood: These little stories made vanilla feel so alive, even if you never read the quest text. The skill of the original designers' storytelling permeated every part of the game in such subtle and expert ways. You knew something mysterious was over the hill or inside the cave, even if you never explored it, which added tremendous depth to the game. No need for ham-fisted, oversaturated storylines constantly bludgeoning you over the head at every turn like modern wow has.

MrGoesBoom: Ya know, for all their zealotry got way out of hand, going by Vanilla and early WoW the Scarlet Crusade wasn't exactly wrong in wanting to wipe out the Forsaken. The fact that they have their free will and still act as they do make them more monsterous than they were as Scourge IMO. As you point out, it could be said the Forsaken as they started out were evil.

As opposed to current WoW where they seem to be trying to write out all the conflict between the factions and everyone is friends and the Forsaken aren't evil, they're misunderstood and blah blah blah.

I could no longer use any of the vendors, so no more noggenfogger, and I lost the ability to insta-logout in the tavern, yet I still had the ability to hearth to gadgetzan.
