IS SWTOR REALLY DOOMED? Boomy Reacts!

darthgooner: to be fair people have been saying SWTOR is doomed for a decade now and it's still going

kieran21192: $100 or here in the UK £100 can get you a new game …

For SWTOR … £100 gets you a mount … cartel coins … and a month or so sub time … and 5 dyes …

myworstenemy7966: I’ve been hearing that SWTOR is “dead/dying/doomed/shutting down” for the last 13 years. Broadsword doesn’t really need to worry about subscriptions yet, because the cartel market is where the money’s at. Even without that reliance, I’d say that the game isn’t in danger. I started playing again, a couple weeks ago; after canceling my subscription for about 4 years, and I’ve had no problems finding people to group up with.

TroySpencer-k6u: I have been playing SWTOR on/off for a decade now and I do get bored of redoing the same stories over and over again. I like the stories. But the Broadsword team really needs to pump out fresh content more frequently.

Stephen-ut5xo: $99, comes with 6 months Sub time right? So the bundle pretty much pays for itself if you plan on subbing for 6 months. The Mount is trash, and the Cartel Coins and Dye are just a bonus.

geoffreygotsch7329: All you have to do is go to the SWTOR official echo chamber cheer section... I mean forums... to see that no matter what they sell for how much, there will be people that will invest in SWTOR no matter what gets released. So as from Broadsword's standpoint as long as you have white hat whales that not only will buy everything they release but defend it makes sense to keep going. One correction though, in STO if you buy a ship off of the zen store it's account wide, but if you do a gambling box ship (which you don't get in SWTOR) it's only for the character that opens it.

HopelessPhoenix: I dont want them to shut down SWTOR, its cool game, cool universe, one of my favorite parts of star wars. I just want them to make an update to get people back INTO IT

ZADANxyz: I wish they had an item you could get for game time like WOW has or a repeatable deed/achievement system that isn't server wide like LOTRO has so you could earn you way to new features and content.

chrissnyder8415: Another company trying to make money? Unreal, how dare they. Like, Share and Subscribe and don't forget to turn on notifications.

TheWriterBrothers: Pretty much agree with everything. I have been trying to be excited and enjoy the game, but it's just so... even character progression needs to be retooled. It's not fun to constantly plow through enemies with little to no damage. The most "challenge" I can get for planet quests is soloing Heroics and even then it's never a super close call.

I am diving back into Lost Ark because it feels like what SWTOR wanted to be in a lot of ways. Lost Ark rewards dedication, but also has enjoyability for casuals. All it's missing is epic cutscenes and voice acting.

My suggestion: bring back open world PvP. Make it worthwhile to play in the danger zones. Part of the fun of Prophecy of the Five was that random wars would break out between the factions. You would have organic battles that were unplanned and lasted for HOURS with so many players occupying the area that the serves crashed! Obviously we expect better stability, but imagine being a part of a 100 v 100 total war fight to the death on Tatooine?

Last note, I don't often watch these kinds of commentaries of other people's content. I watched to the end.

VonKerman8328: Disney is just raking this shit in.

tomp6879: I am definitely positive about games and dont like the "game is dying" crowd. I have played games that were truly dying with dead servers and SWTOR isnt that. However, this video is realistic as always and I agree with your points.

The cartel market is absolutely bullshit. There is NO excuse why you cant unlock dyes like you can cosmetics on the CM. And just about anything "cool" is now CM-only. When was the last time we saw a new armor set or weapon in the actual game? This much I will agree with. The CM is horrible, but as a subscriber I havent really bought CC in years, so thats a plus I guess.

My only defense for the CM is almost all of it is cosmetic. You dont need any of it to play the game. Its not like there is a lightsaber on the CM with better stats than you can find in game. And that is the difference between Pay2Win and this. You pay to look good, not to win. A mount is a mount is a mount. You can use your first moddable lightsaber until endgame if you choose. Nothing on the CM helps you get an edge aside from a couple consumables like XP boosts, companion compendiums, and level boost, and maybe the unlocks if you're F2P. Its a system, like WoW's, where it is fully cosmetic and therefore a waste of money from a frugal/logical viewpoint.

I also agree the only reason this game is alive, is because its Star Wars. Because we are so starved for a good Star Wars MMO that we play this. Same thing as SWG in the end: people played for Star Wars, not the game. You take the Star Wars out of this game and what's left? The real problem is WE NEED A GOOD STAR WARS MMO! And whether LA wont allow it to be made, or no one wants to make it, its what we all want and what we arent getting.

The voice actor strike aside, the content is pathetic. STO, LOTRO, heck even EQ 1(!!!) puts out more content than this game does. At this point it doesnt even need to be story. Some new and cool dungeons would be nice. All we get is more and more (and more expensive) augs. And how many of us are really in that tier of players anyway?

All in all, I'm only here for the story which SWTOR still does decent, and Star Wars itself. After my 6 month sub runs out, I'm considering moving on. I love this game and I try to stay positive, but in this economy you are right, we have to decide what is worth spending money on.

Rune_TTV: Couldn't agree more with Central or yourself. If SWTOR would listen to the feedback the community has been begging for, for literal years the game would soar. How many times has something been removed and then put back in to get players to return? People want a Star Wars MMO, but more specifically, a GOOD Star Wars MMO. We've all been saying since what 2012? that the f2p model for SWTOR needs to be changed. It's such a shame because I love this IP (pre-disney) so much. Almost everything in SWTOR should be account wide. The level scaling needs to be removed. Why the f**k is there a credit tax? Ohhh that's right there have been to many credit glitches for the market to recover, remove it. Bring back ranked PvP. $20 dlc is completely fair. If they did half of what has been suggested, I'd resub.

The_MightyFiredemon: I can do one even better. The costumes, armor skins, mount skins, and weapon skins you buy off the cash shop in guild wars 2, those also unlock across your whole account once equipped. You don't have to save some gems to purchase it again for the whole account.

Nosferatu_Faust: I would love to see some accountability from the swtor team. Preferably in the form of them actually answering our questions, potentially even providing their justifications or reasonings for the lack of content and other things mentioned in these two videos.

jillianholderfield1295: As an autistic person, I have played this game since year two. I still love it nostalgically but, my god, does the way they do things piss me off.

Edit to add: I’ve been subbed for years. And it’s the only video game I’ve ever gone past free to play for. And I still hate it. Lol

sanctirongaming: Totally agree. As a player that has over 3000 hrs played in SWtor. I use to play a lot in past but once 7.X launch it killed me. I remember when season were good.. I got 7/8 classes with Renowned Smuggler etc. which title like that should be account wide and not server. They haven't learn a thing in years.

Sashman1234: We all have common sense. "Talk with the community, not censor them", "Wrap that cheap cash grab cartel market stuff in something good like strongholds, cool decoration, story content". Hell, we could look to other nice games, take some inspiration! SWTOR could do better. But I doubt the developers will ever change. At last... every Star Wars fan could write a better plot than this Hidden Chain never-ending-story pile of poodoo.

brooklyntaylor5935: SWTOR is so doomed let be real Boomy. ESO and BDO do better with thier dye system and cash shop. So yea he is right in his video Boomy 100%. If stuff do not change it will die and super decline. Gw2 , ESO and BDO all 3 cinema way of handling cash shop. As for story telling, since i got more and more into ESO and GW2. ESo and GW2 have way more deep stories. ESO 100% does.

bigjohncasey2641: They will not change. As long as they keep selling Cartel market items nothing will change. If you say anything (negative in their eyes) to suggesting any type of feedback, you get blocked, called aggressive, or flat-out ignored. The one major problem i have had is a lack of true help with missing items or being stuck in a storyline that's glitched they don't want to help.

GothicBimbo: From a new players perspective thats played wow and ffxiv i think swotr is realtively good value for money even considering the sub I think the biggest downfall is the lack of new expansions in so long (for existing players, not myself currently as im currently working my way through to act 3 of every origin story)

Capconian: Like I've said in the Discord: I have around 2 more months of sub time, and unless the next updates blow me away, once I lose my sub, I'm out until I hear something that's worth my time returning to.

I bought those $100 packs because I like the mounts, but that Chrome Dildo was not worth my money, even when I really wanted those chrome dyes.

I got other games to play.

Darthpicklelord: I couldn't agree more with you and Central! The voices of reason in this community!

DBthefirst: GW2 is a game you can pick up and play at your own pace. No need to rush or need to feel rushed.

Briansgate: I remember when Swtor was awesome.

ShadowKingRecks: The cartel market has pretty much been the same shit for the entire time other than the items they make "scarce" on purpose, I love this game I have almost 100%'d it but its been dying for a long time not because of us but because of the Devs. It is a very slow death, but a death nonetheless. It's just on life support, unfortunately.

slicktre931: A friend and I started playing swtor after years of not playing, got past the first flashpoint and saw we couldn’t equip the purple gear, looked up why and saw we needed to spend money to get authurization and we both quit again. Was a huge disappointment and I probably would have subbed because it was so fun but gear was a strange line to cross for micro transactions
