kuyajames1: How to PVP in SWTOR: Solo queue, lose, and then mald in general chat that the opposing groups are all premades.
CeaseFaith: I would recommend taking a gearing guide and potentially a basic or quick class guide for your class in PvP long before bothering with level 80 PvP. The new player experience is just fundamentally bad for fresh level 80's and it's the worst it has ever been for end game players. As for low level PvP, lowest level augments are busted for stats and should be applied to your gear to avoid players from using this advantage against you. It's relatively cheap and it's possible to craft them yourself.
We used to have a function called bolster (still do in lower level modes) that would beef you up to be more competitive when missing gear, while in level 80 nowadays that's basically disabled due to bolster issues that were never resolved around launch of 7.0. So now all gear is sync'd to 336, your main drive should be to unlock said 336 modded if you're interested in PvP what so ever. There's plenty guides that can take you through to obtain this within a week or a day depending how much you play.
Then obtain cheapest augments you can likely blue 83's (296 item level) which will be sufficient until you get better at the game.
Arenas & PvP is not a good way to gear and it's unlike you will win if you're not a contributing factor, even more so if you chose to play arenas ungeared, you're likely only hurting yourself and others at the same time.
As for 8's, don't expect to win every game, there's a magnitude of reasons someone won't do what you expect them to, or not do the perfect play. Being obsessed with winning is part of why so many people these days have issues with SWTOR's PvP. Some matches aren't winnable and 8v8 is a format where you can fly under the radar in impact, but also make a large impact when playing well. It's a good mix and it has to be nearly intentional to make a negative impact, where as just existing under geared in arena you're often an instant negative impact.
When it comes to actually learning the game, guilds are great, but there's a lot of scattered misinformation all over the place that may end up misguiding you. I highly recommend reaching out to experienced PvPer's on either YouTube (like myself) or on twitch, as some still pop up every now and then. I love to help people, so if you do have more in-depth questions about PvP feel free to ask me here, I am one of those whose been around a long time playing all modes. I also have a j o b, so I am not quite as degenerate as some.
spartantraveler7251: Been thinking of starting PvPing recently to get the darksaber crystals. What a coincidence!
v3lr4x5: Should have mentioned the minimum armor rating for arenas or new low geared players will be focused and die first and fast
darthrenero7877: The amount of gratitude I have for these tutorials… you have no idea!
I’m forever grateful for The Academy series and all the amazing guides, videos, and resources you’ve made on your website and channel.
Thank you for being one of the biggest reasons I was able to enjoy SWTOR and honestly, for even helping me and so many others get into and better understand the MMORPG genre.
Inthruelvanmorda: Seems nice untill you actually try it and realize most of the pvp community in this game is full with people who have played for years and will blame and shit talk you every match, you will be fighting against people that have basically max gear every time (Which means getting one-shot 90% of the time if you are a newbie and dont have a ton of time to gear up for it) And ppl in general and endgame chats will mock you for asking basic questions and tell you to not que bc you are a noob. I have played lots of mmo´s, and SWTOR pvp seems to be a bad time for new players overall, so keep this in mind if you are planning to get into pvp, players that are loyal to the game wont tell you this bc they want more players in their game and will tell you how amazing it is when you ask in the online game community, but when you try it in-game it turns out quite different, id recommend you guys give it a try for yourself first and make an opinion based on that. Dont wanna try to convince no1 to not try pvp in this game, just sharing my new player expirience with you guys and sharing what i think you should know as a newbie, i love your videos, they are great!!
Edit: Also PVP matches are non-existant untill you reach max lvl (Even tho you can que, there is no ppl pvping untill max lvl, so it will never pop the que) so there is no lower level pvp to try it out, you are immediatly sent to que with max-geared players that will focus whoever they see a noob in the match
LucianDarth: Ah the best content in SWTOR is here!
We just need new gamemodes really
ThyBountyHunter: I would say heal, that is all I did when this released, I healed my teammates to the point I became the target where I would then heal myself and my teammates would pick them off one by one. Rinse and repeat.
jessenelson8011: thank you for all the info
jessenelson8011: good I'm bad hahahaahahahahaahahahah
jasonmenke7423: The first thing to do to make yourself better in pvp is to unbind your backwards key (s) and learn how to play by turning instead of walking backwards. Walking backwards is very slow and makes you an easy target in pvp. You can get away with it in pve, but pvp is very different.
Another bonus is that you get an extra key bind for other things. I use my S key for an emergency defense, depending on my class.
If I see someone walking backwards in pvp I automatically assume they are a noob. There is no reason to ever be walking backwards, ever.
chrisstewart9828: Not a pvp dude, but love the videos! Thank you!!!
phonescreenfiend: This helped a lot as a bew player
matthewbusch1484: God tier supportive and helpful video!
josephmulvihill1761: I would like to be able to get a new account set up for this game but it never works. Is there any good tutorial on how this can be done?
PinkLemnade: Step 1: Be jedi or sith
Step 2: go invisible
Step 3: spam stuns
youre welcome saved you 8 minutes
hackintosh3899: How to PvP in SWTOR. 1) Grind months for implants, tacticals, item level is actually the easy part. 2) The reward for all that work? Now you get to pay to win with 7 billion credit augment sets. MUCH MORE if you want to play alts. 3) You aren't done yet though. Now that you are geared you get to engage in the worst pvp in any mmo ever, because they removed ranked and the people who win traded in ranked (should have been permabanned) now run premades with a heal/guard mechanic that just doesn't work outside a premade facing a premade. Who will you be premading against? New players who you make never queue up again, cus you don't even play objectives and farm people who aren't close to the same power level due to augments and the most convoluted gearing system ever created for MMO PvP. Make sure to make videos "farming noobs" with a pve parse running (when you have no competition you can do pve rotations) that a whole 50 people might watch. 4) Welp no one is queuing for level 80 pvp atm, so spend a ton of more money, level up twinks who can literally 3 v 1 new players in lower brackets and destroy any other new players that might ever level to 80 and pvp. Of course you don't have to 4 v 1 cus you will be premading lower brackets to with a healer and a tank and guard when you are usually facing all dps. When the premades have to play each other all queues stop for hours,
Still want to PvP? Oh I forgot you also have to join a guild you may not even want to be in (cus screw making a guild with friends) with stupid guild speed increases which devs added to the game without testing, that make pvp much, much worse due to the game engine and desync. A game engine that runs on one cpu core and that can dip down into the 30 FPS range on a NASA supercomputer. A game engine that no sane person would EVER add more desync problems to with speed boosts.
Keep in mind SWTOR PvP was once a CASUAL experience where gearing and playing tons of alts was easy because they realized the community was cooked when they removed ranked (which only made things worse). It was the one niche SWTOR had. Barbie dress up and casual pvp that the community and current dev teams ruined. Instead of stopping the premades, bringing back ranked so that their egos were destroyed and simply permabanning cheaters who would risk years of collecting outfits, mounts etc, the devs just made it easier for the most toxic community in mmo history to destroy what's left of the community. It's so bad they can't even get players to queue up now with a REWARD track for doing literally nothing.
The few content creators that are around legit don't even like each other and forget about non biased feedback because they actually will shadowban you for laughing at how bad the desync speed patch is, all cus it buffed their favorite class. The only winning move now is not to play until the devs show they have a clue, care at all and realize the one niche this game had left in the pvp space. I could make pvp infinitely better with minimal effort. Ranked, Augs don't matter in pvp anymore cus you already have an insane grind with tacticals and implants before you can even compete on a new class, ranked back, permaban anyone win trading and embarrass them with forum posts, Regular warzones are now solo queue. Grats you just fixed SWTOR pvp and would get a ton of new players.
__homa__: Ranked?
BlackMage_BlackMage: First! <3
Geckorawasg: Don't. Insta win for not playing pvp in swtor.
